Welcome to the one hundredth and thirtieth WikiProject Yorkshire monthly newsletter.
Thanks to the contributions of our many members and supporters, WP:YORKS has become a leading local British WikiProject in terms of the total number of articles supported (up from 14,488 last month to 14,522 on 30 January 2019). In the area of GAs WP:YORKS at 150 is ahead of WP:GM who have 86. WP:GM has the lead in FAs at 67 out of a total number of 4,150 articles.
Currently we have forty seven Yorkshire featured articles:
The number has been kept deliberately low to give us a fighting chance of improving them to at least GA status, also so we can concentrate our efforts on these first.
WikiProject Yorkshire Collaboration of the Month Project
The February 2019 articles selected below are an editor choice as there were no further suggestions from the project talk page.
The project is subscribed to a clean-up listing which lists articles tagged with various clean-up tags that need attention. The listing is refreshed by a bot on a regular basis.
Monitoring is essential Use the watchlist to keep an eye on changes to the project's articles so that vandalism and spamming can be removed as quickly as possible.
Moves Please be careful when performing articles moves and ensure that you also move all the talk sub-pages and update any image fair use rational. Otherwise the archives, to-do lists, assessment comments and GA reviews get lost and the image may be deleted as it has an incorrect FUR. You will also have to check that the Commons link is set correctly.
Thanks

"Anglicanism" versus "Anglican".
Latest comment: 5 years ago2 comments2 people in discussion
I was very surprised by your reversal of my edit on the Robin Ward article. I believe my edit was more accurate. The term "Anglicanism" describes a Christian tradition, it is not the actual name of any "denomination". In this instance, "Church of England" is the most precise name as neither "Anglican" or "Anglicanism" are entirely correct but Anglican is less incorrect. Yahboo (talk) 03:33, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
Hi Yahboo, thank you for your message. The parameter's purpose is to list the wider tradition/denomination that that person practices rather than specific church they belong to: the |church= found higher up that infobox is where "Church of England" of would go in this specific case. As per Religious denomination, "A religious denomination is a subgroup within a religion that operates under a common name, tradition, and identity. The term refers to the various Christian denominations (for example, Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholic, and the many varieties of Protestantism).". And as per Anglicanism, "Adherents of Anglicanism are called "Anglicans".", and so in this case the entry should read "Anglicanism" as the question the parameter is asking is "which denomination/tradition does this person practice?". Likewise, the |education= is asking "which school did they attend" rather than "what oldboy are they?" (Eton vs Old Etonian).
Things are confused further in that the the parameter is actually called |religion= but shows up as "Denomination". Another example would be someone from the Church of Scotland having Presbyterianism rather than the broader Protestantism in that parameter (Eg Colin Sinclair (minister)). The main reason |church= and |religion= are different is because they are in different sections of the infobox: |religion= is in the "Personal life" section and so is referring to that individual, while the main section is referring to their "job".
