Lack of edit summaries when you are changing the picture in the infobox of articles

edit

Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing →   Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Shatranj (1956 film) moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Shatranj (1956 film), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Ways to improve Bandhan (1956 film)

edit

Hello, GaiusAugustine,

Thank you for creating Bandhan (1956 film).

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

Thanks for the article! Movie Buff, Cinestaan, and Hindigeetamala are cited, though, are these RS? They appear to be iffy databases not covered at Wikipedia:WikiProject Film/Indian cinema task force, nor the Film Resources page.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|VickKiang}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Avoiding cut-and-paste moves

edit

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Phir Subah Hogi a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Phir Subha Hogi. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Changing pictures on a whim

edit

There is absolutely no reason to change infobox pictures of celebrities every other month. The main picture can and should stay the same for years and years, unless there is a significant difference in the way the celeb looks. Remember, Wikipedia is not a fashion tabloid to show off a celeb's latest look and clothes. Krimuk2.0 (talk) 06:40, 1 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Greetings @Krimuk2.0!
It would have been nicer if you'd have been less rude with whatever you're trying to establish here, but then there are some people...
Please refrain from that in future. Also, I won't do the same thing as you did as it'll just aggravate something meaningless. Wikipedia is free for all and no one gets to decide which picture must stay and which must not.

@Krimuk2.0 If you still can't realize what was meant for you to learn from this then I can't blame you. I'm sure you're wise enough to understand what this means. :) GaiusAugustine (talk) 06:47, 2 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Try teaching yourself that lesson then. Perhaps some Gandhism would he helpful. And no, don't go around changing his picture to show off his clothes too. ;) Krimuk2.0 (talk) 06:49, 2 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Or maybe i will change his picture and show off his new clothes.. but I'll do it only on the condition that you'll have to change that picture too as I'm loving this little banter :D GaiusAugustine (talk) 07:32, 2 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Tenure of 2nd Modi ministry

edit

Hi! I saw your edits on the Second Modi Ministry article. While the Prime Minister had tendered his resignation and that of his council of ministers today; they still remain on caretaker capacity till the new cabinet assumes office which is expected on 8th. So, could you kindly remove the term end dates and only add them when the new entrants assume office? Also, could you please follow Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Dates and numbers while adding the dates. Oritsu.me (talk) 09:44, 5 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Oritsu.me No problem, I'll remove it. GaiusAugustine (talk) 11:13, 5 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Pictures on 3rd Modi ministry

edit

Hi! I saw your edits, you have done quite an enormous work to add the pictures in the table for the ministers. But I must tell you that the template format has proven to be useful as compared to the format which you used. Why? Because once there is a reshuffle. You'd need to remove the whole thing and return back to the template system as using the same picture more than once in the table is just space consuming and makes the article look very strange. Also, we tend to arrange the list according to the ministries and not ministers; so that'll possess another issue. Further, this will break the trend of the articles since the article on First Nehru ministry till PM Modi's second ministry. I hope you understand! Oritsu.me (talk) 19:00, 13 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Oritsu.me I completely understand your point. You're right in every sense, but I took inspiration from the Ministries of Australia and India. If it comes to reshuffle, I claim full responsibility to make the article look concise, coherent and appealing. About the other ministries, I'll change all of them, slowly in a time bound manner.
I mean, it'll really help if you'll let me try this, I am sure you'll love the end results. GaiusAugustine (talk) 03:12, 14 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Oritsu.me Atleast you could have waited for me to reply. Completely undoing something without reaching the consensus is unacceptable. Ministries all across the world, be it Australia, England, Canada are using pictures. I spent days in creating something like this and you undid the whole thing just like that. Let other users provide their inputs, I'm not vandalising the page afterall. You can't just do things as per your convenience. GaiusAugustine (talk) 03:24, 14 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
See, I understand that you've given days of efforts but I can tell you the pros and cons of using that format. UK, Canada, US have very limited ministries and less reshuffles. Moreover images are found very easily. Same is not in our case. Moreover, you'll find images easily for the ministers since 2009 onwards. What about those before? Also, once there is a big reshuffle (same as 2021), your table will look very cozy and untidy. Hence, I suggest that we stick to the template format and that also helps out with maintaining a link of the same format for all other pages on the ministries. I hope you understand. Also I did not say that you had vandalised the page. Oritsu.me (talk) 08:17, 14 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
About the scene of reshuffle, if we look at the page "Sunak Ministry" there have been crazy reshuffles, but they have still maintained it somehow. They have even given a separate table for that.
I know it's difficult to get pictures before 2009, we can then take a cue from Ministries from Canada, where a similar problem persists. There, they haven't used pictures for Ministries before those from recent years. An example can be the Ministry of Pierre Trudeau.
All I wish to say is, if we can obtain images and use them on this page then where's the problem?
Plus, while editing I clearly observed that no wonder this style makes the page look comprehensive but, the size of the page in terms of characters actually reduces. This not only makes the page look elaborate, comprehensive and informational but also visually appealing. GaiusAugustine (talk) 08:45, 14 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
