Help on picture copyright
Hi Ganesh, I found this picture by google search. I want to use it for article on first chief minister of madhya pradesh. Can you please let me know if it violates the copyrights. Here is the picture. Thanks Gunjan (talk) 05:04, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks Ganesh for your prompt reply. This picture was taken on 1 November 1956 so there are still 7 more years to become public as per 60 year law. Gunjan (talk) 05:32, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

Help with bot problem
Hi again, you created a bot for me some time ago to generate a watchlist here. This has been working for some time without problems but is now giving errors. I assume that it has something to do with recent software updates. I have tried the latest pywikipedia software but get the same result. Any idea what can be done?
It starts with a warning - weblinkchecker.py808: SyntaxWarning: name 'day' is assigned to before global declaration global day
Then starts up and gives a traceback -
coventry1.py line 1109, in <module>
- main <>
coventry1.py line 1095, in main
- wl.getTaggedPages<>
coventry1.py line 141, in wl.getTaggedPages
- for page in refs:
wikipedia.py line 1170, in GetReferences
- next_meg = self.site<>.mediawiki_message('whatlinkshere-next')
wikipedia.py line 5417, in mediawiki_message
- tree = XML(decode)
"string", line 85, in XML
- SyntaxError: unidentified entity   ;: line 667, column 145
I have called my local copy coventry1.py. Many thanks. Keith D (talk) 10:43, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks, sorry I forgot to let you know that I found something on WP:VPT that others were having similar problems. It seems to operate OK though a little slower. Keith D (talk) 10:49, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

re: Tamil Wiki assessment
I'm quite thrilled at the possibility as that's one of the things that many of our editors are wanting to do. I'm yet to go through the link you posted, but could you tell me if it involves just setting it up or does it require writing new code as well? (Sorry for not doing research on my own, I'm a little tied up these days.) -- Sundar \talk \contribs 18:44, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
- If that be the case, I can do that, Ganesh. Will work on it next week. -- Sundar \talk \contribs 12:57, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the Barnstar!
Ganesh, thanks for the Barnstar! I am thrilled to receive my first Wikipedia award!
In addition, I would also like to contribute some scripts which could be useful for getting information from Yahoo! and Google's Maps API. I have to clean them up and document them a bit, but could you suggest where I can put those online?

Bot
Ganesh, I think you run a bot that creates village articles, can it be repurposed to create articles for politicians? Basically MLAs/MPs. If yes, what would be required, format etc? I'm thinking a basic infobox, two line stubs with constituency name, elected year... cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 06:48, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Nehru tryst with destiny speech.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Nehru tryst with destiny speech.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. SchuminWeb (Talk) 15:29, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:Masulabeach.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Masulabeach.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 04:13, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Talk:Sangli/Post by Umesh
A tag has been placed on Talk:Sangli/Post by Umesh requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. CSVLoader
Hello. I am wondering if I can use your CSVLoader to create articles from a .csv of this list User:Anna Frodesiak/Blue sandbox and this sample User:Anna Frodesiak/Gold sandbox. Thanks. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:43, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
A quick question or two
I don't seem to have enough places to put things.
AWB's bottom-left box contains the articles to be created. Example:
User:Anna_Frodesiak/Sandbox/banana
User:Anna_Frodesiak/Sandbox/apple
User:Anna_Frodesiak/Sandbox/grape
The big box below the headings box in the Loader contains the data:
- User:Anna_Frodesiak/Sandbox/banana, snoring, ski
- User:Anna_Frodesiak/Sandbox/apple, interrupting, eat
- User:Anna_Frodesiak/Sandbox/grape, belching, panic
So where does the sample article go: Jimbo likes ##food##s, but has a terrible habit of ##habit##. Sometimes, in the middle of the night, he will ##activity##.
Also, by csv, one simply means a text file with comma delimited fields, right? Or do I need to use the Excel file I made, which seems to have no place to go.
