Speedy deletion nomination of Tahiti Drink

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Tahiti Drink, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Hi Gary, I happened to read the note that User Orangemike left you on his Talk page about your new page Tahiti Drink. Here is some more detail. The specific notability guidelines you need are at WP:PRODUCT. As you will read, you might have more success with an article on the manufacturer rather than an individual product. The key is articles published about the product/company; note that these really need to be substantial, and not just recycled press releases. It also helps if you mark your page as a stub. I suspect you have chosen a difficult task as your first page. An example of a short page I created a while ago is Terry clip. Note that, because Herbert Terry & Sons has ceased to exist, people are relatively relaxed about notability as there is no possibility of the page being promotional. (If you want to respond, please do so here.) Best of luck, HairyWombat 21:05, 15 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
Thanks HairyWombat, I appreciate your help. I've read all that I can find and have posted a new (stub) entry in my sandbox. If you can see it I would be very interested in your input. I shortened everything up and added a more appropriate source. Thx again, Gary Garysmith10 (talk) 21:26, 17 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
I have tidied the article a little. Things for you to consider include:
  1. Moving the article out of your sandbox to User:Garysmith10/Tahiti Drink. This would allow you to develop multiple articles in your userspace.
  2. Using a more detailed stub than {{stub}}. There is a long list at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/List of stubs.
  3. Finding one or more categories to add. These must already exist (which your one does not). Whilst the article remains in your userspace then leave the categories commented out (between <!-- and -->). Categories are listed under Category:Contents, but it will be easier to look at existing Wikipedia articles on alcoholic drinks and Tahiti, and to steal from them.
  4. I put back the image; images are good.
  5. The <ref> is a good one; you might want to mine it for further stuff for the article. The article originally would have been published in the paper edition of this magazine, so I left in the parameters |volume=, etc, in case we ever find out what these were. (I receive this magazine, but do not keep back copies.) Using citation templates is always useful for <ref>s (in this case {{Cite magazine}}).
That's all for now. HairyWombat 22:20, 17 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
I think I got everything you suggested and then submitted the page. Man, had no idea how much goes into one small page. Thx so much for all your help Hairy'. Garysmith10 (talk) 02:50, 18 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Don't lose heart just because your article was speedy deleted. It happens to pretty much everybody at some point. My first article was speedy deleted. RJFJR (talk) 22:00, 15 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
