AfD nominations
editGreetings. In response to your comment at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Neurovisceral Exhumation: Please don't be discouraged from nominating other articles for deletion. I agree that the ones you tagged do not appear to meet the standards for inclusion, and removing non-compliant articles is a Good Thing. It's just that the steps beyond just tagging the article are necessary for a full discussion to take place. Listing the discussion page on a daily log page brings it to the attention of people who follow AfD nominations and discussions in general. Use of the {{afd2}} template adds important links (including one back to the article itself) which editors can use to track the history of the article and gather the information they need to evaluate it properly. It also brings the page to the attention of certain bots which perform AfD-related functions (including adding it to the logs if that step had not been done). Without these other steps being taken, hardly anyone would be made aware that the discussion exists. I only ran across these nominations myself because I follow a bot-created page (User:DumbBOT/TimeSortedAfD) which tracks those discussion pages which have been open the longest, and yours had reached the top of the list.
So anyway, I wasn't out to be critical, just helpful. Some of these procedures can get complicated. I'll also note that there are tools available (I use Twinkle) which can streamline the process so that you're not editing three or four pages by hand. Thanks for your contributions, and feel free to ask me questions. Happy editing! --Finngall talk 16:45, 20 December 2019 (UTC)
@Finngall:: Thank you for your message. I try to follow this in the future but I'm not even sure that I will nominate any more articles to deletion. I will see.
Irigy Hónaljmirigy moved to draftspace
editAn article you recently created, Irigy Hónaljmirigy, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. TheImaCow (talk) 09:38, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
@TheImaCow: Thanks for the info! I was ready to find some sources by the way.
GhostDestroyer100 (talk) 09:41, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
@TheImaCow: I expended the article significantly and I added some sources. I think it is ready to go into the mainspace.

- User:GhostDestroyer100 - I declined the draft. I did not reject it. If you resubmit it, please explain what criterion they qualify under. Robert McClenon (talk) 21:15, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
@Robert McClenon:: Okay. I included reliable sources in the article, such as Origo.hu (one of the largest news portals in Hungary), Index.hu (also one of the largest web portals in Hungary and Origo's biggest rival, I think) and Hammer World (Metal Hammer). Or are there other problems?
Hungarian Classic Rock Bands
editHello, we have run into each other several times at band deletion discussions, and I noticed you mention that you are Hungarian. First a little about myself: I am American but once lived in Budapest for several months and later went there a second time for a major business trip. (These were both related to teaching gigs at the now-departed Central European University.) So Hungary has a place in my heart. While there, I learned that the country had a rock music scene during the Communist years and I became quite interested.
.....Anyway, here at English Wikipedia I am trying to improve articles on some of the musicians from that scene. My biggest accomplishments so far include a major expansion of Sarolta Zalatnay and a significant cleanup for Locomotiv GT. My next projects will be Illés (band) and Omega (band), which are both in pretty good shape but with practically no sources for verification. I plan to work on those soon. I am pretty good at figuring out Hungarian-language sources via Google Translate, and will bring stuff over from Hungarian Wikipedia. Please consider chipping in on those yourself, if you have time.
......The main reason for this message is that I would also like to improve Metró (Hungarian band), but even the Hungarian WP article for them is low on sources. Perhaps you could track down old print sources about this band in Hungarian if you are able. If nothing can be found for this particular article, it may be eligible for deletion.
......Thanks! ---DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 03:51, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
@Doomsdayer520: Hi! Thanks for writing! I am glad to hear that my country has a special place in your heart and you are interested in Hungarian rock. Unfortunately I am not good in tracking down offline sources. Sorry. Regards, GhostDestroyer100 (talk) 06:23, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
Hi, I noticed you voted delete in the above AFD. Have found some sources and listed them in the AFD, can you please evaluate them, regards Atlantic306 (talk) 21:09, 7 November 2020 (UTC)

AfDs & Notifications
editHello, GhostDestroyer100,
When you nominate an article for an AfD discussion, please notify the page creator by posting
- {{subst:Afd notice|NominationName}} ~~~~
on their user talk page. It's considerate to inform a page creator that their articles are being discussed. If you use Twinkle, this is done automatically with each page tagging once you set up your preferences. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 21:47, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

Soul Crusher's Albums
editHey, I don't now if you're already aware of this, but it is possible to generate a list of articles created by a Wikipedia user. If you navigate to a list of their recent edits, at the very bottom of that page there is a grey box with some database tools, including "Articles created". (Try if on yourself.) Anyway, I did this with old Soul Crusher and found that he created a ridiculous 2625 articles before being kicked out, most on obscure albums and industrial bands. Many have been deleted but many others are still sitting around as well. SEE THIS: [1]. I'm not saying they're all non-notable, but this is a useful way to track things down for further action. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 21:12, 31 December 2020 (UTC)
@Doomsdayer520: Thank you for the info! I said I have a slight suspicion about there being more of Soul Crusher's articles, but I did not expect it to be this many! I haven't written any new articles here, I know that. I mostly start and contribute to AfDs and fix minor typos / revert vandalism. I only tried to submit a new article about a Hungarian parody band, but it didn't got accepted. So yeah. But thanks for this site! GhostDestroyer100 (talk) 10:21, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
- I was thinking about the albums. If one of Soul Crusher's albums is clearly non-notable but is from a band that has an article, just redirect the album to the band. Help:Redirect. That way you don't have to go through the lengthy AfD process. If someone disagrees they can easily undo the redirect but the only person likely to do that is Soul Crusher, and he's gone. The band articles would require more work though. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 16:18, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
@Doomsdayer520: Ok, thanks! GhostDestroyer100 (talk) 18:59, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
Hello
I am the guy who has been updating the page for " The Great Leap Forward (band)" - rationale being that the information is out of date and / or is missing, as this band has been active since previous article edits.
The article "Great Leap Forward (band)" (which I didn't start) has been up on Wiki since 2008ish, with no problems, queries, or referrals from yourselves. "Great Leap Forward (band)" and "The Great Leap Forward (band)" are one and the same. As part of an information update, and in my ignorance of your procedures, I tried to rectify this original name error by creating a new page and redirecting, which I see that you then kindly did anyway - apologies for any self-caused problems there.
I have since uploaded new information (for both this article and related others), and I appreciate that your criteria kicks in in order to monitor this. However, I am now clearly worried that you are about to delete the article when all I wanted to do was to bring it up to date, and as mentioned above, the article has been in existence since 2008 without being deemed "un-notable", so what is so different now that you are considering deleting it?
And may I humbly point out that if you do delete, then there many many other bands on Wiki who also fall into your "no evidence of notability" category, but still have articles.
Regarding evidence/references: I note Spiderone "couldn't find anything reliable, just the standard junk..". Not really sure what "standard junk" means, and wondering how how much you use that phrase to determine whether a band is notable or not. Also I suppose it depends on your in-depth knowledge of the British independent music scene, mostly in the 1980's I admit, which, going on GhostDestroyer100's age, I can appreciate may not be his priority.
So what I can do is provide you with references from reviews and interviews over time about this band from British and European music media such as NME, Sounds etc., and as this band has a new album out later this year then I expect there to be further references available.
In summary, I only wished to update an article that has been living quite happily on Wiki for over 12 years. If I went about this is in the wrong manner, then I can only apologise. Please advise what steps I need to take to avoid this page being deleted.
Thanks for your consideration TGLForward (talk) 10:26, 13 January 2021 (UTC)TGLForward
@TGLForward: Hello! I apologize you, no problem. Let me clarify a bit.
The problem is that your name clearly indicates a COI (conflict of interest), and that is not appreciated on WP. Besides, I know that there are many other non-notable bands, I have also nominated a lot of those during my stay here, and all of them got deleted. The other problem is that there are still many more, which I think is horrible and a disgrace to WP. But since there are so many articles, we can't see all of them, I am aware of that. "Standard junk" is a phrase I use to refer to the unreliable sites, you know, like youtube, facebook and other social media, databases, retail sites, blogs and download sites. Sites which doesn't contribute to notability.
And yeah, I'm only 22, so I don't have access to offline sources, and I don't know how to track them down, so you are right about that.
I would appreciate the sources you mentioned (Sounds and NME are reliable of course), and if there are even more, the higher the chance it will stay.
Just please, do something with your name. I think you can request to have a new name. But that's just my opinion.
Regards, GhostDestroyer100 (talk) 11:39, 13 January 2021 (UTC)
Hi there, just giving you a quick message as I've seen you in a few music-related AfDs and I know you've got solid knowledge in this area. Looking for a second opinion on this band. Are they "The Great Leap Forward" or "Great Leap Forward" in your opinion? The creator has reverted my attempts to redirect one page to another even though they are exactly the same band. Secondly, do you think they are notable? I'm struggling to find independent sources and was wondering if you could have a quick look please? Many thanks Spiderone 22:56, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
@Spiderone: Hi! I have never heard about this band, but I will check everything about them. They don't seem notable, based on the sourcing, and I have a suspicion that searching will be difficult because of the common name. GhostDestroyer100 (talk) 09:12, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
@Spiderone: I checked this band, and they seem to operate under both names. But I think they are not notable. Couldn't find anything reliable, just the standard junk (I searched with their studio album). COI also applies, as the username matches the name of the band. No evidence of notability. An Afd should be started in my opinion. GhostDestroyer100 (talk) 10:12, 2 January 2021 (UTC)

Project Sweep
editHey, you have developed a talent for tracking down old articles, especially on bands, that have been sitting around for years and years with a lot of problems. As we've seen many times at the AfD process, those are often from the early days of Wikipedia when there were not only weaker notability policies, but there were also no useful techniques to detect and review new articles. There is now a project focused on that problem that you might find interesting: Wikipedia:WikiProject Sweep. They have their work cut out for them though, with a plan to tackle possibly millions of articles. In any case, they would probably welcome your participation. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 15:01, 3 July 2021 (UTC)

Secondary listings for public companies
editPlease do not add secondary stock listings to the traded_as=
parameter in infoboxes for public companies. Longstanding consensus is that the field is only for the primary, home country listing of the company (and the infobox documentation reflects that consensus). Very rarely, a company will have, as a result of historical legacy or merger, two primary listings that are appropriate to include (Linde plc and Shell plc are examples) but otherwise ther should only be one.
