Hello, I'm B.J. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to Matthew Grant—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. — B.J (talk) 16:48, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
- Hi BJ. Why was it not constructive? The page has many errors in it. I've been a researcher of Matthew Grant for 20 years and was very disappointed when I saw the errors on this page. Most of the facts on his life can be found in his diary (https://libguides.ctstatelibrary.org/hg/colonialresearch/grantdiary) or in the Stiles book on Windsor and the Arthur Hastings Grant book on the family. gigrant74 (talk) 17:02, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
- There is no proof of his birth location. Exeter is a fine guess, as would be Crewkerne or Dorchester. But there are no records. The connection to the Tuberville family was proven wrong over 50 years ago, as was the idea his wife was from a prominent Grey family (and if shew was, there would be records showing it). gigrant74 (talk) 17:03, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
- you can email me if you would like to discuss at length. Also, the wikitree page on him is 90% correct and shows some of the research re: wis wife and origins. gigrant74 (talk) 17:05, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
- Nobody is going to do your work for you. If you think that Matthew Grant has errors. go to Talk:Matthew Grant, list one error, post a link to the page that you think has the correct information (the specific link. Not just "go to wikitree.com and try to guess which reference corrects the error"). Repeat until you run out of what you think are errors. --Guy Macon (talk) 18:36, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
- Solid advice, and appreciated. I'll gather info and try to do it all in one edit. A few of the sources here actually confirm my changes, others are just not good sources for anything. Online genealogies are a mess and should be avoided... But yes, I have real sources and can really help this page. Thanks. gigrant74 (talk) 19:20, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
