Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed maintenance templates from Sean Ensign. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Please see Help:Maintenance template removal for further information on when maintenance templates should or should not be removed. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. Thank you. okay sorry this was not my intention i will not do this again GillieBille (talk) 18:04, 27 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Mako001. An edit you recently made to After-School All-Stars seemed to be a test and has been removed. If you want more practice editing, the sandbox is the best place to do so. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Mako001 (C)  (T)  🇺🇦 16:51, 30 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Why did you remove the COI and ad tags on the Nixon Peabody article?
--A. B. (talkcontribsglobal count) 14:44, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
i accidentally removed some things like that because i thought i could remove them if the problem was solved but now i know i can't do it without people like you asking me questions so i won't do it again GillieBille (talk) 17:11, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for helping us -- here are some things you especially qualified to help us with

edit

Please don't get too discouraged. I looked at some of your other edits; I think you may be getting tangled up in some of the subtle inconsistencies of the English language. There are the primary rules (grammar) and vocabulary taught in school but then there are secondary nuances involving actual language "usage". In some edits you made small, grammatically correct edits to sentences which were already grammatically correct; your edits led to slightly less common wording. I did not revert these.

I suspect that your removal of conflict-of-interest tags had a similar origin. Think of it this way: if I learned Flemish, I might be able to write good quality prose. At the same time, I might have difficulty recognizing fake online user reviews -- there'd be a degree of "fluff" that I would not catch involving subtle language nuances. Take a look at MOS:PEACOCK and Wikipedia:Wikipuffery. I reverted some of your tag removals; others were appropriate.

I write this with considerable humility; like so many (too many) English speakers, I am almost monolingual (I know just enough French to make a Frenchman cry). Having worked in an international setting with extremely fluent English speakers from Switzerland, I know how frustrating English's odd nuances can be. English is a sprawling language resulting from jamming together two mostly consistent languages - French and something most similar to Frisian -- into an inconsistent linguistic Frankenstein.

So I think in making these small changes, you have been taking on a difficult task that is actually not that important here.

Notwithstanding the comments above about very subtle, minor linguistic issues, you clearly understand English well. I don't know if your first language is Flemish or French but perhaps you could help add content from the French, Dutch or Flemish Wikipedias to this one. Or do the reverse and take our content there. Either would be helpful. Take a look at:

Once you have more experience on Wikipedia, there are some translation tools you can qualify for.

You could also add new material to existing articles about Belgium or Belgian topics. See:

I suggest you skim these policies and guidelines (spend about 5 minutes on each):

We have many behavioural policies, too - no personal attacks, etc. Just don't be a jerk and you don't have to read them all.

We have dozens of other policies and guidelines. Few people have read them all! Even fewer people have read all the subpages of the Wikipedia:Manual of Style. Don't even try.

I believe you can be very helpful here with the opportunities I listed above.- that's why I've spent an hour finding these links and writing this out. I'm not qualified to do any of those things, nor are >95% of other English Wikipedia users.

Thank you for helping us. Contact me if you run into problems. --A. B. (talkcontribsglobal count) 20:22, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Louise Boisot moved to draftspace

edit

Thanks for your contributions to Louise Boisot. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 23:39, 7 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Significa liberdade, I translated it from the dutch version, but i don't know how to put in the article. Can you maybe help me with that pls? GillieBille (talk) 07:53, 8 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi, @Gilliebillie, thanks for asking! If you translated the article from the Dutch Wikipedia, you'll want to include attribution in an edit summary (see Help:Translation). If the article on the Dutch Wikipedia has sources, you can bring those sources onto the English Wikipedia. If the article on the Dutch Wikipedia does not have sources, you will need to find sources to establish notability to indicate that the article belongs on the English Wikipedia. Does that make sense? Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 13:23, 8 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Significa liberdade, I added something, is it good enough? GillieBille (talk) 13:32, 8 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Not quite yet. Per the basic notability criteria for biographies, "People are presumed notable if they have received significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject." Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 13:53, 8 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Well @Significa liberdade, the page can be removed, i can not find any sources about Louise Boisot. GillieBille (talk) 15:20, 8 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
