editI moved the link you added to Scouting in Jamaica, and added the Girl Scouts of Jamaica. --—— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 23:19, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
- Ed got here just as I was about to. ;) Would you consider writing the article Girl Scouts of Jamaica? Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 00:57, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- Before starting a new article on GSJ please check Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) and Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not. Girl Scouts of Jamaica was speedily deleted twice, reasons were notability and advertising.
- In my opinion, GSJ should grow to some more members (some hundreds) before aiming for an article in Wikipedia. --jergen (talk) 09:07, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
Chris, I would be happy to write an article about the Girl Scouts of Jamaica, yet again.--Girlscoutsjm (talk) 09:55, 27 October 2008 (UTC) Jergen, are you in Jamaica? Do you know the significance of the Girl Scouts of Jamaica, or in fact any of the scout/guide groups in Jamaica?--Girlscoutsjm (talk) 09:55, 27 October 2008 (UTC) I do find this whole Wikipedia set up very confusing, but I have joined the Scouting project and will make our contributions to it.--Girlscoutsjm (talk) 09:55, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- I had not realized the article had been deleted. If you wish to pursue this, I suggest you create a draft in your user space. Click on User:Girlscoutsjm/Girl Scouts of Jamaica to start editing. We can review it as you work through it. --—— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 10:55, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- I do not know anything about Scouting in Jamaica. But this is not the point. Before starting an article you should check if Girl Scouts of Jamaica matches any of the criteria on Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). I cannot see how a newly founded organization with a very small membership (judging from its website) should do so. I also propose to read Wikipedia:Conflict of Interest.
- I'm not judging your dedication to Scouting - I'm sure it's deep and honest. But Wikipedia is not a Scouting database nor for promoting a new association. It's an encylopedia. --jergen (talk) 11:06, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:GSJ-roundfleurpin.gif)
editThanks for uploading Image:GSJ-roundfleurpin.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:16, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Simple English please. I have no idea what this means.--Girlscoutsjm (talk) 11:08, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
- Excuse the bots (the above was sent by what is like a robot). The point is that no article is using Image:GSJ-roundfleurpinsm.gif. You are using Image:GSJ-roundfleurpin.png. Since the image was not under a free license, it can not just be used anywhere. Since it is not used it will be deleted. I've been on wikipedia for three years now and I still find imagees confusing. --Bduke (Discussion) 21:09, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
Not (quite) all WOSM!
editI read your comments with a real sense of deja-vu. I'm not WOSM, I'm with WFIS and have become increasingly frustrated by a couple of editors ... as you may have noticed! Apologies for having it fall out all over your GSJ talk page, but I had just had an almost identical issue with the same editor on another non-WOSM article. Most editors on here are a pretty good bunch, really, so I'm sorry that your first experience of this place has been so stressful!
If you get any events in the press, and the press puts them on the internet, link to them straight away. Sadly, although WOSM pages seem to be permitted to sit on Wikipedia without any any external references, everything else to do with Scouting has to justify each and every word.
Hope that things are going well for GSJ. Yours in Scouting, Richard (DiverScout) DiverScout (talk) 13:38, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:Gsj-natl-fire-logo 173x180.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Gsj-natl-fire-logo 173x180.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. –Drilnoth (T/C) 22:36, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

Survey
editHi Girlscoutsjm!
I have put together a survey for female editors of Wikipedia (and related projects) in order to explore, in greater detail, women's experiences and roles within the Wikimedia movement. It'd be wonderful if you could participate!
It's an independent survey, done by me, as a fellow volunteer Wikimedian. It is not being done on behalf of the Wikimedia Foundation. I hope you'll participate!
Just click this link to participate in this survey, via Google!
Any questions or concerns, feel free to email me or stop by my user talk page. Also, feel free to share this any other female Wikimedians you may know. It is in English, but any language Wikimedia participants are encouraged to participate. I appreciate your contributions - to the survey and to Wikipedia! Thank you! Invitation: WikiProject Autism
editGreetings! You are hereby invited to WikiProject Autism, a collaborative effort to improve the coverage of autism, Asperger syndrome, and Autistic culture on Wikipedia. As the project emphasizes contribution from autistic editors, it is especially interested in you, who have chosen to list yourself as a Wikipedian with Asperger syndrome.
