Hi Godimrm - Was just after a bit more clarification regarding your comments on my referencing. Have added one of Kasriel's publications to the article to try and give it some strength. This is my first attempt by the way! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jo325325 (talkcontribs) 09:56, 8 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

== Manuscript Pen Co Ltd == this is the first article I have submitted to Wikipedia and I have submitted several versions. I am uncertain how to edit it to make it more acceptable. To try and show why Manuscript is notable, I have referred to certain things like the worldwide historic importance of steel pen making and confirmed that Manuscript is one of the few remaining companies in the West Midlands which still manufactures pen nibs and the fifth generation of the same family remains associated with it. I have tried to make these factual statements. Please can you tell me which "peacock terms" are a problem and if there is any particular part which is not sufficiently impartial. I have included references to a BBC website and independent specialist websites about the steel pen trade. I am not sure what other references would be possible. Any more detailed assistance you can give me would be much appreciated. Thanks Malissastockbridge (talk) 09:49, 1 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Malissastockbridge, here are a few suggestions -
  • If you are writing about Manuscript Pen Co., then the article should focus on the company, not on the founder (which currently is the focus of the article).

You need more of these to establish the notability of the company. Hope this helps Godimrm (talk) 12:10, 1 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

*Thank you. I will use that reference and redraft to change the emphasis. Guidance much appreciated. Malissastockbridge (talk) 12:34, 1 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
*I have submitted an edited version. I have amended the text to describe company itself more directly but impartially. Steel pen trade heritage left in as hopefully notable. Your suggested reference has been added. I would be grateful for your feedback. Thanks Malissastockbridge (talk) 15:34, 1 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Manuscript_Pen_Company_Ltd Looks better now. Can you move the names of the office bearers to Infobox? The statements which can be referenced should be left in the article. Do you have any news coverage of the company which can be cited as a reference? Godimrm (talk) 15:44, 1 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Manuscript_Pen_Company_Ltd I have put names of all Directors and titles in the Infobox and removed the titles from the text but not sure how to reference the statements to the people in the infobox. Can you help re this? I will try and find more news articles on line. The current BBC news page reference includes a short video of the Inside Out programme as transmitted. Carl Chinn visited our factory (because he was amazed and impressed that we were still in business and even using some of the old hand presses) and this is shown at the end of the programme. The programme made by Cloudscape which was approved for transmission by the BBC was cut short because it was transmitted on a day when the snow was terrible and that, coupled with the lack of salt available, meant that part of Inside Out overran and ours was cut. The original version is the last video on this page http://www.cloudscape.tv/our-work/. Is that any help? Malissastockbridge (talk) 17:03, 1 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Manuscript_Pen_Company_Ltd Radio Shropshire broadcast a programme about us in June on Colin Young's Lunchbox http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00smd6x. However, sadly this link only shows a summary of this, the broadcast itself is no longer available. Is this any help?! Thanks Malissastockbridge (talk) 17:52, 1 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Article for Creation - Burck Smith

edit

Thanks for your suggestions, I updated the Burck Smith article to hopefully better meet your recommendations ([Burck Smith Article]).
I couldn't figure out though why it was saying the page would be created as "StraighterLine" (an existing Wikipedia page) and not under "Burck Smith." Is there a tag that I'm missing?
Thanks.
