Goodna Neighbourhood House

edit

A tag has been placed on Goodna Neighbourhood House, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group or service and which would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Mattinbgn/ talk 12:06, 30 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please do the following:

  1. Place {{hangon}} on the page. Please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag(s).
  2. Make your case on the article's talk page.

Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. Anna512 (talk contribs) 12:08, 30 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please don't recreate this article in this form. Wikipedia is not a directory. I am also unsure that even if this article was not written as an advertisemnt it would not be notable enough for a Wikipedia article. Please see Wikipedia guidelines on notability for details. -- Mattinbgn/ talk 12:13, 30 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

User talk page and user page info

edit

Regarding user talk pages, it is best to not delete notices, but instead, to archive them. You will find how to do this here, under "When pages get too long." Your talk page is intended to serve as a place to discuss your contributions. It ends up being a sort of a history of the work you've done and the conflicts you've been in, or the praise you've received. It's alright to archive comments or warnings, but blanking your talk page is not considered appropriate, as it is not actually yours but instead belongs to us all. Please read WP:USERPAGE and WP:TALK. Actively erasing non-harassing personal messages can often be interpreted as hostile. In the past, this kind of behavior has been viewed as uncivil. For this reason, eventually when you desire to keep the "clutter" down on your user talk page, I suggest that you create archives for these messages. I would be happy to assist you in doing just that if you ask me to. You can see a sample of archives (mine) here. As for your user page, most users seem to use it as a place to describe themselves as people and/or editing entities. Many collect links to pages they are working on and/or have been working on. You user page is more "yours," in a way, than anywhere else on wikipedia, but is not intended to serve as a personal webpage either. Once again, read here to learn more about this. -- Kukini hablame aqui 23:51, 30 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Goodna Neighbourhood House

edit

Hi Goodstone,

Firstly, I would like to compliment you on your work on the Goodna article to date. It is good to see editors taking an interest in improving articles about the Ipswich area. The new article is a big improvement on the previous articles. Remember, that Wikipedia's guidelines on advertising applies to not for profit bodies as well and it is important that content is encyclopedic in nature. However, I am still concerned that in its current state, the article is likely to be nominated for deletion as it does not assert its notability using multiple non-trivial reliable sources independent of the subject and each other. Please see Wikipedia's guidelines on notability for ideas on how this can be established.

It may be worth creating this article in your userspace and working on it there before moving to the main article space. When you have found your sources and are happy with the article, it can then be moved over to the mainspace. This will prevent deletionist minded editors from tagging your article for deletion while you are still working on it. I can help you with this if you wish. Remember, everyone may not have the same opinion as you on its notability so regardless of how much work you put it others may still tag it for deletion. With regards to creating an article for every redlink, sometimes it is better to remove the redlink if it is unlikely that an article meeting Wikipedia guidelines can be created. To get some idea on community consensus on notability please have a look at some deletion debates at Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Australia.

Lastly, Wikipedia has built up a set of procedures and guidelines for working through differences of opinion like ours last night. Please follow them as it makes working on a project such as this much easier for everybody. If you are interested please have a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Australia and feel free to add your name as a participant. Happy editing -- Mattinbgn/ talk 04:06, 1 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disagreement by deletion

edit

Goodstone, what you did to my edits on the Goodna page (and now here) and it's talk page is called "disagreement by deletion" and is entirely inappropriate for a wiki. The comment when you did it ("Removed it appears politically motivated vandalism by unlogged in user") is obviously incorrect - nothing in my changes would be construed as "vandalism" by an unbiased reader. See Wikipedia:Talk_page_guidelines#Editing_comments

The fact that I was not logged in does not automatically make my changes vandalism - if it did, wikipedia would simply not allow edits without logging in.

None of my changes was political. I suspect that, given that you raised politics both in the article itself and in your comments when deleting my changes, you are the one pushing a political point. How many suburb pages have the results of federal, state and local elections in them?

I attempted to improve the quality of the page. You attempted to make the page and, thereby the place you live, seem more appealing. Aj wp 18:28, 26 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of Goodna Shopping Centre

If you are interested in the deletion discussion, please participate by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Goodna Shopping Centre. Thank you. Honestly I not fussed either way. I suggest, try once more to establish its notability, then let it go and move on. If its gets deleted, I suggest you should put the most important main points on the Goodna page.
My opinion, is that Goodna Shopping Centre is not really a major shopping centre and has very little significance beyond it's locality. If someone requires more information about the centre they should visit the shops or contact centre management. Do you have some sort of business interest in promoting this page? If your objecting to the page deletion because most of it is based on your contributions, you may want to spread your effort over a greater number of pages. I notice your average edits per page is more than twice mine. - Shiftchange 23:01, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of File:Goodna Shopping Centre Side.jpg

edit

The file File:Goodna Shopping Centre Side.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

orphaned image, no encyclopedic use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist.
