Thank you.
A tag has been placed on La lanterna glasgow, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.
If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}}
on the top of La lanterna glasgow and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Cheers! ► Wireless Keyboard ◄ 15:55, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

editWelcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from La lanterna glasgow, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Zachlipton (talk) 16:04, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on La lanterna glasgow requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Travelbird (talk) 15:26, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Ardanaiseig
editYes, it was an advertisement for a hotel. If only the historic information had been included, it might have been valid. Please read Wikipedia:Notability, Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and Wikipedia:Advertising#Wikipedia_is_not_a_soapbox (particularly point 5) for further guidance. A tag has been placed on Ardanaiseig Hotel requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

editPlease stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add soapboxing, promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. If you honestly cannot see that such language as, for example, "firmly established as one of the city`s premier destinations for authentic Italian cuisine" and "...work tirelessly to maintain the eatery`s fine traditions that have taken La Lanterna`s reputation to where it is today" is promotional then you will probably never be able to contribute constructively to Wikipedia. - OK, I have read you post to my talk page, and I accept that we can all learn, and that to judge you purely by your first attempt may not be fair. I will give you a (rather belated) welcome message, which will include links to some pages that you may find helpful. You can't be expected to read them all before you start, but I suggest having a look at some of them, and coming back to them over the course of time. your first article is probably a good one to look at, and you may possibly find the article wizard helpful too. - While I was writing my comment above you posted to my talk page again. Obviously for a new editor it is natural to look at existing articles to see what is acceptable, but it can be dangerous, for two reasons. The first reason is that there may be an important difference which is not obvious to a newcomer, such as the one having coverage in reliable sources and the other one not. Personally I do not like such language as "It is well-known for its celebrity guests" in any article, but if there is a reliable source saying so then that is not a reason for deletion. In fact one remark like that would not be a reason for deleting a whole article even without sources, as the remark can just be removed. However, if an article is full of little other than language like that and there are no reliable sources, then the article is likely to look like promotion, and is likely to be deleted. All that is likely to be fairly obvious to many experienced Wikipedia editors, but not to a newcomer. The second reason why following existing articles as a guide is dangerous is explained at Wikipedia:Inclusion is not an indicator of notability, and also at WP:OTHERSTUFF. Finally, do feel welcome to contact me on my talk page if you have any questions. I don't promise always to be able to help, but I will if I can. JamesBWatson (talk) 15:45, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
- By the way, it helps if at the end of a talk page comment you add Please remember to sign your name on talk pages by using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username and the date, and a link to your talk page, which can be very helpful to anyone wanting to get back to you. Userfied article
editI see that your attempt at an article has been deleted again. I have created a temporary copy for you to work on at User:Gordon m campbell/Ardanaiseig Hotel. This is known as a "userfied" copy". This is only a short term measure, not a long-term way of evading deletion. However, it should give you a breathing space in which to work without fear of immediate deletion. I will try to find time to come back and give you advice on what needs doing to it tomorrow, but I have no more time now. JamesBWatson (talk) 16:04, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
- First of all, sorry that I didn't "come back and give you advice on what needs doing to it tomorrow". I'm afraid I simply forgot about it until I saw the note you have recently posted to my talk page. However, I have now had a look at the latest version. The only problem that I saw was the one mentioned in the post below from DGG, that is to say a lack of any 3rd party independent sources about the hotel. However, that problem is an important one. You do have a perfectly good source about William Burn, but not about the hotel. The hotel's own web site is fine for verifying facts about the hotel, but it is no use for establishing notability, which needs 3rd party sources. I'm afraid it looks to me as though the hotel may not satisfy Wikipedia's notability criteria, in which case no amount of rewriting the article will change that. I have searched and found plenty of stuff about Ardanaiseig Hotel, but I am not sure how much of it is from sources that are both independent and reliable. Advertising and other promotional sites are no good, as they are not independent of the subject. JamesBWatson (talk) 14:00, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
Status and Advice
editYes, although the copyvio has been removed, I deleted it for the third time, for there was no indication of possible encyclopedic importance. You need to show some indication of such importance, and the only way to do so that will keep the article in Wikipedia is to have references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases. Mere listings in tourist guides or directories will not meet this requirement. To give you time to get the information, I've protected the page against re-creation for a week. After that, if you can find references, you could move the article from userspace, but unless you do have references, it will just be deleted again. For further information see our FAQ about business, organizations, and articles like this and also WP:FIRST. . DGG ( talk ) 16:28, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
