I am currently in the process of linking articles on American High Schools to external media pages, that provide timely coverage of Athletics at these schools. This information is largely outside of the scope of wikipedia.

These sites are official sources of content, and are managed by the school administration.

Please use this page as a forum to communicate with me, should you have a specific school or event you would like me to link or provide more data on (citation, source, detail, etc). I will do my best to service these needs. Thanks!!! Digitalsports (talk) 15:58, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Trying to understand what just happened. I have had a long and detailed back and forth on COIBot Take page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Beetstra, outlining what I am offering and how/where I plan to help. The last thing I am interested in is getting flagged as spam, so I have been trying to be as visible and helpful as possible. I am trying to increase the content on High School pages, by adding details around High School Sports. My intention is to add citations, sources, and content. In the case where the all of this is exceptional for a given school, my hope would be to simply add an external link to a school or teams official site, where real-time data is being accumulated. These sources are completely relevant and outside of Wikipedia's functional scope, because the content, while relevant and interesting, lacks long-term significance. I am trying to go about this the right way, and hence, have reached out to the community to get a feel for what content would be desired.
Having a long conversation with Dirk Beetsrta, we agreed that my intentions, so long as my actions followed them, were not "spam"-worthy. I even took his advice, reaching out the various WikiProjects to communicate what I could offer and how it could be best used. I found projects related to schools, sports, and Maryland - projects that represent the cross section of what I can offer the community, as far as content goes. I set up my talk page so that users could communicate with me, if they had questions. That took a lot of time, and it appears now that everything I have done, to go about this in a way that didn't take away from Wikipedia's goals have been removed, a lot of time and work, erased. What's worse, I have a big spam warning on my talk page, having taken no action in the first place.
Perhaps this was simply an error, as a result of a bot picking something up. I dont know. I guess what I am asking for, is the same thing I thought the wikipedia community appreciated most - dialogue.
My question is simple. Please let me know what the community could use, in regards to high school sports content, and I will do my best to find it, add it, cite it... Thanks. Digitalsports (talk) 20:13, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

You can't fool me, that's the same name you are currently using! — Yamla (talk) 20:48, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I plan to change my username, so if you can simply unblock me, I will go through that process. I am learning wikipedia as I go, sorry for the confusion. Digitalsports (talk) 20:43, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi, apparently you are not blocked directly, and you are most probably able to create an account. You might wish to try the instructions located at Template:Autoblock if you're still unable to edit. Please note, though, that advertising under this username or an other is prohibited on Wikipedia. -- lucasbfr talk 20:50, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hi. I understand, I have been doing my best to work with the community to learn standard operating procedure. I am simply trying to get unblocked, and change my username. I didn't intend to cause any confusion or problems. Once second my account was working, the next it was blocked. I don't understand, procedurely, what is happening right now, my sole intention at this point is to get ublocked, create an approved username, and start from scratch. sorry, i am literally learning how to exist in this environment at the same time as I am operating in it. Help? Thanks. Digitalsports (talk) 20:57, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Oh, I see, you think I am going to change my username TO Digitalsports. I'm sorry, I must have incorrectly copied and pasted something in. I am going to change it from Digitalsports to something else. I will try this again. Do I really need to come up with the Screen Name now? Will do. One second, I will put in a new request. This is a procedural decline, I was able to completely lift the "automatic block" the software added. you should now be able to simply create an account (that's WAY faster than requesting a renaming) — -- lucasbfr talk 21:25, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Just so I understand, was the "automatic block" simply because my username was the same as website? with username: digitalsport website: digitalsports.com? Just trying to close the case on this one?
Also, does this mean I can again edit with DigitalSports? Will I ever be able to do that again? Thanks again. Digitalsports (talk) 21:46, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
You should change your username at Wikipedia:Changing username. Usernames that contain a domain or imply a web address are not allowed as usernames and the account will be disabled. see Inappropriate usernames.--Hu12 (talk) 21:49, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Gotcha. Thanks for your help. Digitalsports (talk) 22:21, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
