Coordinates III

Where did you get these coordinates? They are exactly the same as those of Camden Road railway station which is nowhere near Old Oak Lane Halt railway station - it's off by about 8 km (5 miles). --Redrose64(talk) 21:20, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

Monty the metal horse

Hi Grim23. Thank you for message. I've amended the text on the image page with what I know. Off the record I believe the horse was commissioned due to the land being previously occupied by a official traveller's site and much of the land there was used for grazing. The Wildlife Trusts

The article Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts correctly describes it, as far as I can see, as an organisation with a membership of the 47 local wildlife trusts, which is known as The Wildlife Trusts, but which also has a separate grants unit. See http://www.wildlondon.org.uk/Aboutus/TheWildlifeTrusts/tabid/225/language/en-GB/Default.aspx andhttp://www.wildlifetrusts.org/index.php?section=about. However, there is also a separate article The Wildlife Trusts which confusingly describes the RSWT as also part of the partnership. Investigative journalism as medical ref

I have again deleted investigative journalism as medical ref in article Ketamine. This is hearsay, by lay persons who are out for sensational reports. It is therefore tainted by this interest in the sensation. It also changes from day to day, just dependent on what the sought after sensation is, and also in such cases like drug use, what the sought after drug political goal is. As such it is rather volatile and unreliable material and to be excluded as a medical reference. WP has guidelines, what is to be used as a medical reference: It are secondary sources like recognized textbooks, and it are review articles in peer reviewed publications. It are not case reports, letters to the editor, self-published materials and journalist sources. It are also not primary sources, as long as the results are not recognized part of the common and secured medical knowledge. Otherwise WP may take on the volatile and sensational character of investigative journalism itself, rather than being encyclopedic. 70.137.143.108 (talk) 23:21, 10 July 2011 (UTC)

I will make an attempt at British humor: This story reminds me all too much of the story of the far east "japanese clap". Dr. Nutter, former advisor of the immigration and vice unit of the home office, explained to investigative reporters, that there is an extreme danger of contracting the "blackening far east clap" from illegal immigrants, which necessitates immediate surgical removal of the genitalia in a life-saving emergency operation, before they turn black and fall off under signs of life-threatening sepsis. This is the BBC life report. And now to the next report: There is increasing evidence that the use of club drugs... blah... blah... blah... The home office has determined... Dr. Nutter says... blah.. blah... blah... have to be surgically removed in an emergency operation... blah... blah... blah...

As you seem to be British you will see the point. Only Germans have such an unshaken trust in authorities and take investigative radio reports, even by Goebbels, at face value. Of course later, in particular in Nuremberg, they claim to have been under orders. "Wenn ist das Nunstuck grit und Shlotermeyer? Nein Beierhund das oder die Flipperwaldt gersput." (The deadly joke, by Monty Python.) In my opinion the involvement of government advisors makes the information less trustworthy, not more trustworthy. Same for the BBC. And regarding Dr. Nutter I suspect nomen est omen.

Finally, on a factual basis, a medline search brings up only anecdotal evidence, case reports, letters to the editor, one single review article on this issue. Try it out. So this seems to be insufficient evidence for such claims. I really propose to wait until this has been more elucidated. Also, god knows what the bloody "Street ketamine" is, who cooked it in the basement out of what chemical waste etc. It is simply too early for being encyclopedic material. 70.137.160.145 (talk) 08:03, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

Well, as an expat German and longterm colleague of British expats I have learned that no discussion is complete without a few bits from "Fawlty towers" (Ahhh... the gentlemen from Germany are here, I will immediately march into the kitchen to prepare some sausages and the sauerkraut. There you are, one pickled Goering, twoPrawns Goebbels and two Colditz salad.) as well as the classics (e.g. Oh, you are german, and I thought there is something wrong with you) and excerpts from the "Deadly joke". I may also convince you that Germans are probably still leading regarding their doggish obedience wrt. authorities. Maybe it slowly dissipates, as the young generation is brought up in a more cosmopolitan spirit.
