Your addition of an external link to Bass fishing
editWelcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the external links you added to the page Bass fishing do not comply with our guidelines for external links. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. — Dave (Talk | contribs) 14:19, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Angling. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policy for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. — Dave (Talk | contribs) 14:21, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
April 2011
editWelcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article Sesame Street, please cite a reliable source for the content of your edit. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for how to cite sources, and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Hello Halclyon,
It seems to me that an article you worked on, Harold Howe II, may be copied from http://www.gse.harvard.edu/news/features/howe12022002.html. It's entirely possible that I made a mistake, but I wanted to let you know because Wikipedia is strict about copying from other sites.
It's important that you edit the article and rewrite it in your own words, unless you're absolutely certain nothing in it is copied. If you're not sure how to fix the problem or have any questions, there are people at the help desk who are happy to assist you.
Thank you for helping build a free encyclopedia! MadmanBot (talk) 13:07, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Harold Howe II
editHello Halclyon,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Harold Howe II for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Barney the barney barney (talk) 13:30, 21 July 2013 (UTC) Hi Barney,
IFirst of all, I'm not an experienced Wiki editor and do not understand a lot about the tecnical aspects. I worked closely with Harold Howe II and knew him well and was asked by a Wikipedia editor if I would write an article on him. I drafted the piece you have nominated for deletion from Harvard Graduate School of Education as a draft beginning of the article and later referenced the Harvard source, hoping I and others could add to it. I encountered this editor some years ago when I was making some changes to the Sesame Street article as she kept deleting my edits even thoughI was there as the project officer for Sesame Street, and knew what happened. My experience here has been very frustrating! Did you see my references to the draft crediting its source?
Another question for you as certainly a more experienced wiki editor than I: The article on me: Harold C. Lyon Jr. has been labeled as a "Stub" bu someone, after which, as suggested, I added more content. How do I get it "unstubbed as it now has much more content??
Thanks.

Opting in to VisualEditor
editAs you may know, VisualEditor ("Edit beta") is currently available on the English Wikipedia only for registered editors who choose to enable it. Since you have made 50 or more edits with VisualEditor this year, I want to make sure that you know that you can enable VisualEditor (if you haven't already done so) by going to your preferences and choosing the item, "MediaWiki:Visualeditor-preference-enable
". This will give you the option of using VisualEditor on articles and userpages when you want to, and give you the opportunity to spot changes in the interface and suggest improvements. We value your feedback, whether positive or negative, about using VisualEditor, at Wikipedia:VisualEditor/Feedback. Thank you, Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 20:16, 11 October 2013 (UTC)
February 2014
editPlease do not write or add to an article about yourself. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. ElKevbo (talk) 03:37, 12 February 2014 (UTC) I have been putting in the references requested as links as well as correcting information on other sites where I personally present and know that information posted was incorrect an have put in references where I could to published sources. (Sesame Street, Carl Rogers, George Wallace, James Meredith, etc). Some editor posted on my addition to the George Wallace, "unlikely story". I was there when this secret negotiation took place and this editor was not even born at that time! Very frustrating!Halclyon (talk) 21:25, 23 February 2014 (UTC)Harold LyonHalclyon (talk)

Could you please provide a source showing that "Hal C. Lyon, Jr." is a commonly used alternative name for Harold C. Lyon, Jr.? Thanks! Mz7 (talk) 17:01, 26 December 2015 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for March 8
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Harold C. Lyon, Jr., you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Michael Murphy and Gifted & talented. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
