California WikiProjects

edit

As a California Wikipedian, you may be interested in the California WikiProject (and/or one of its 'daughter' Wikiprojects on Southern California, Santa Barbara County, California State Highways and California County Routes). Please take a look at the WikiProject to see if there is anything that interests you. If you have any comments or questions, feel free to contact me. If enough people express an interest, it would also be very easy to create additional daughter WikiProjects, such as a Northern California WikiProject or a California Politics WikiProject.

It has also more than seven months since the 2nd Los Angeles area Wikipedia meetup ([ 26 September]] 2005), so it is time for another one. There have also been California meetups in San Diego (18 October 2005) and a very small one in Santa Barbara (8 April 2006. It's also about time that the Bay Area gets its first Meetup if anyone is willing to organize it. BlankVerse 05:54, 28 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Your request for rollback

edit

After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback can be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback may be removed at any time.

If you no longer want rollback, then contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some information on how to use rollback, you can view this page. I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, just leave me a message if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Happy editing! Reverting edits that are not vandalism

edit

Hi. I noticed that you have rollbacked edits that were not obvious vandalism. For examples : [1], [2]. You reverted valid additions such as [3], [4], or [5]. Even though they need cleanup, formatting or sourcing, they should not be reverted. You also reverted an obvious grammar correction. You must be more careful when using Huggle. When reverting edits that are not obvious vandalism, you must leave an appropriate edit summary, to justify your revert. Huggle allows to enter edits summaries but sometimes you must investigate further before reverting, to check the validity of the edit (using google, etc). If this kind of reverts continue, your rollback rights will be removed. Regards, Cenarium (talk) 16:44, 8 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Promotion of organization?--Pedrortm (userID)

edit

Greetings, This is the second time I create this page(IPEA), though this time I actually expanded on the previous webpage and put links to prove that the Institute is an actual entity with international renown. I am assuming that it has been marked for speedy deletion because as Jimmy Walles said "it doesn't have enough google prescence or promotes an organization". However, this is because the Institute was created in January 2009 -- this however, shouldn't undermine its already impressive achievements. I invite you to see a few of the interview links on its International Friends profiles and Legion of Liberty news coverage to verify this yourself. The page was created for informative purposes only (its a nonprofit), and I don't believe it should be classified as "publicity" or "lack of presence". If you still don't agree that this page is worthy of remaining in wikipedia, I would greatly appreciate a somewhat detailed explanation. Thanks, Pedro Rivera —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pedrortm (talkcontribs) 02:56, 13 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I noticed that you tagged this page for speedy deletion under criterion A7. While your tagging was not incorrect, I believe you should have used criterion G10 instead, as this is clearly a page created only to attack or disparage its subject. This also gives the creator a more stern warning than a simple notice saying their subject may not be notable. It is also likely to get faster administrator attention.

Keep in mind that attack pages should preferably also be blanked. Some tools, like Twinkle, does this automatically. Other than that, keep up the good work! decltype (talk) 06:12, 17 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi thanks for checking the new articles. NPOV violations do not need to be speedy deleted, unless it is an advertisement. An A7 deletion is if the article claims no importance for a person. The articles may not even need to be deleted at all if written in the right kind of tone. If you find this situation again please tag with {{Autobiography}}, and possibly {{NPOV}}. Removed speedy deletion tag: 병렬컴퓨팅

edit

Hi AeonicOmega! Firstly, thanks for helping out in CSD areas. I just wanted to inform you that I removed the speedy deletion tag you placed on 병렬컴퓨팅- because: the article appears to be in Korean, and I can not find the article at ko wiki. The page should perhaps be redirected to Parallel computing If you have any questions or other message, please contact me. Thanks Kingpin13 (talk) 19:57, 29 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Mmm, I noticed that myself, naturally the article could be deleted under G7, but it's likely the only reason the author was blanking was due to the deletion nom, and the article could make a good redirect. I will ask the user whether they actually want it deleted. - Kingpin13 (talk) 20:07, 29 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi AeonicOmega. I removed your speedy tag from Chris Uscinski because the article contains a claim of significance ("Summer topped the charts"). Since that claim seems to be unsupported I've PRODed it instead. Cheers, Olaf Davis (talk) 09:48, 3 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

It was funny enough that I did a Google search to make sure it wasn't a slang term (no hits, though). With no hits on the search, I didn't see any productive reason to keep the article around, so it got a speedy delete. —C.Fred (talk) 00:27, 7 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

prod: Irena Troupová

edit

Hello AeonicOmega. I've removed the {{prod}} template from Troupová article, I think the reason for deletion is inappropriate, unrelated to the notability of the subject of the article. Autobiographies are strongly discouraged but not prohibited. I added several sources and external links, check the article again, please, and look also at notability criteria for musicians. For further explanation look also here. Take the article to AfD, if you disagree. Thank you, have a nice day. --Vejvančický (talk) 14:41, 7 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
