The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

December 2020

Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that you recently added commentary to an article, Trombiculidae. While Wikipedia welcomes editors' opinions on an article and how it could be changed, these comments are more appropriate for the article's accompanying talk page. If you post your comments there, other editors working on the same article will notice and respond to them, and your comments will not disrupt the flow of the article. However, keep in mind that even on the talk page of an article, you should limit your discussion to improving the article. Article talk pages are not the place to discuss opinions of the subject of articles, nor are such pages a forum. Thank you. Donner60 (talk) 01:22, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

As I look back at this, it appears to be just a Manual of Style problem. Instead of "NOTE:", a simple statement that these are not "jiggers" or pronounced as such and not chigoe fleas, rather than a direction to the reader would be more appropriate. My message was inaccurate, to say the least, and also neither informative nor necessary. The edits did not justify a revert and a template message. At most I should have simply left a message about my view that this wording was not appropriate and an explanation along these lines.
