Speedy deletion nomination of GB Leighton
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on GB Leighton, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
- It appears to be a clear copyright infringement. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. However, even if you use one of these processes to release copyrighted material to Wikipedia, it still needs to comply with the other policies and guidelines to be eligible for inclusion. If you would like any assistance with this, you can ask a question at the help desk.
- It appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), individual animal, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. JamesG5 (talk) 23:01, 17 April 2016 (UTC)

- First of all I'd ask you to please review the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use and to make sure you comply with the disclosure requirements laid out here. The article you created suffered - as other editors explained in some detail - multiple severe problems, from copyright issues to being blatantly promotional. For those reasons I have deleted the page. If you feel you can write neutrally about Leighton (and to be blunt, that page did not seem promising to me), I'd strongly advise you to use the Article Wizard to write a draft that summarizes in your own words what third-party sources such as newspapers or reputable music magazines have reported about Leighton, and to submit it for a review by an experienced editor. Hello, Hbargmann. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article GB Leighton, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, please:
- avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your circle, your organization, its competitors, projects or products;
- instead propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
- when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Melcous (talk) 23:05, 17 April 2016 (UTC)

editYour comments on GB Leighton (copying here in case page is removed before you see it)
- This page should not be speedily deleted because... (im in a process of creating this page and I do social media and such for gbleighton - im new at this and figuring it out so if I created a page wrong im sorry. again im new and working on getting it all in the right format and page and such. I simply used a few words from our website to create the page as a place to start. I didn't want to just put in a name and leave it at that until I figure the rest out. Its complicated. - The problem here is that you're in violation of multiple Wikipedia policies. First and foremost on conflict of interest WP:COI and paid editing WP:PAYDISCLOSE. Neither are appreciated, and if you're doing them you MUST report them per the policies on those pages. Second, the person you're making a page about must meet WP:NOTABILITY as verified by WP:RS (reliable sources). You must have at least one citation on the page. More to the point, see WP:PROMO and WP:NOTSOCIALNETWORK, Wikipedia is not intended for promotion. You're here, by your own words, promoting someone. That's absolutely not allowed. Finally, you can't use copyrighted content from someone's website, even if you created it for them, unless the page shows a specific license permitting it or you file an exemption here, see WP:COPVIO. If you're going to create an article that adheres to all these policies, your best bet would be to start at WP:AFC articles for creation and let it get reviewed before posting. - Side note, I see your comment about Kat Perkins. I'm a big fan of hers & voted for her on The Voice. However, prior to her appearance there she would have not rated a page here. GB has done nothing, per his page, to rate one. That's not an insult, just a reflection of the criteria here. JamesG5 (talk) 23:18, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
