Thanks for tackling this article. Have a look at my comments on the talk page. Make sure what you write is sourced, rather than your own opinion and thoughts. See WP:NOR. BTW: you were editing anonymously, rather than through your user-account. I've ammended your signature on that page. Colin°Talk 16:06, 19 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I apologise for the spelling mistakes and next time I will take more care.

Hey, thanks for your help in handling User:1471 yesterday - he came back anonymously today and went a bit crazy which helped because a friendly admin blocked him on both his user login and his IP address. Keep up the good work! Budgiekiller 19:45, 19 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Another good revert - looks like our nemesis is moving IPs just to keep grinding us down. Keep it going...! Budgiekiller 21:27, 20 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Washington, Tyne and Wear

edit

A few months ago, on the Washington. Tyne and Wear talk page you made the claim that George Washington had no connections with the area. It is well known in the area that it is his ancestoral home...

Well, given the evidence, I apologise... I used to live near Sulgrave, and knew the link was there - I didn't stop to wonder where they'd come from prior to that (though people didn't tend to move from one end of the country to the other much in those days!). Thanks for clearing it up. Grutness...wha? 01:38, 21 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, bout that. I didn't realize it was an issue. I'll keep my fingers off. At least we have good taste in music in common. Cheers. --Geneb1955Talk/CVU 09:20, 29 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hey do you mind if I tap you for some insight on UK/US terminology differences? For example, do you (as a country so to speak) prefer British or English or something different? --Geneb1955Talk/CVU 11:44, 29 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yeh fair enough, I meant no-one in that converstaion, I hadn't really paid any attention to the vandalism. Yeh, I know I was wrong, sorry. But as you can imagine I was absolutely gutted then, and I was being grouped, with a generalised and incorrect view and offended. so yeh sorry. Philc TECI 19:54, 2 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yeh i did to actually, because of this [1] edit summary. It just got to me. Especially because he seems to be american, and thats just hipocracy for ya. Philc TECI 20:41, 2 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hey, I saw your new message about me posting in US English rather than Brit. English. The thing is, all I added were sources, so I don't understand how I could have posted something in US English. Ealgian

I saw your new new message. Don't worry, you didn't come off as mean or anything. However, I repeat again, all I added were sources. I went back and looked at what I added. I did not write that his favo(u)rite boyhood team was Liverpool FC. I did write that earlier in the "Trivia" section (and you edited it I'm pretty sure). Then someone else moved it and didn't use Brit. English. Hope you don't feel as tired anymore :) Ealgian

David Beckham

edit

OK. I can see him as being "flavour of the month". But are you saying he is a top brand name? He is clearly not. The top brands names are Microsoft, Nivea, McDonalds, Sony and Toyota. Even Colgate is a better known brand name than Beckham. Certainly the top five I mentioned are. I will try removimg this next year some time. I'm sure Becks will be well forgotten by then. Wallie 15:29, 8 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Famous for 9 years? Coca Cola has been famous for over 100 years. Many people use it most days, and they invented the modern Santa. IBM has been famous for over 50 years. Many use IBM regularly too. Beckham hardly features is most people's lives. Please do not ever think Beckham is in the league of Coca Cola or IBM. In the UK he may be, but not in China, India, Africa, Germany, United States, Middle East, Russia or anywhere south of the equator. Wallie 15:44, 8 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Japan is always having "fads". Even Kylie Minogue was popular there for a while. China? Don't think so. They have more class and culture there. Lang Lang is better known in China. Bet you don't know who he is. You see, fame is regional. Wallie 16:12, 8 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, but Beckham is not that famous outside a few countries. Probably Japan and England (not Scotland). My daughter went to a football match he was playing at last year, although she is not interested in football. She spoke to him no problem. However, she went to a Grand Prix meeting and wanted to meet or even see Michael Schumacher. You cannot get near these guys. Now that's real big. Wallie 16:39, 8 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
You can argue black is white using Google stats. They are quite meaningless. If you step back a look at this without emotion, you will get a different picture. Did you know that Ronaldo gets almost twice as many hits as David Beckham? IBM get 30 times the number that David Beckham does. This doesn't prove anything. Outside Britain, few people take him seriously. From what I see, and what people wear, the Brazilian team is definitely the most "cool" and marketable. If you look at Japan, Ronaldo and Shakira are more popular than Posh and Becks.Wallie 17:11, 8 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
South Africa? That country is rugby and cricket mad, not football. The fottbal marketing people would have you believe otherwise, but that's the truth. They are rated permanently in the top five in both rugby and cricket, but are not even in the top 50 in football. Even the USA and Australia are rated higher. I am surprised that you mention that Beckham is popular in the Middle East and North Africa (is that Egypt?). Wallie 17:40, 8 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Paul McCartney

edit

Hello, I have been in the process of peer reviewing the article Paul McCartney and was curious to see your edit summary recently. Why do you feel that UK English should be used in preference to American English? From my understanding of Wikipedia (and it may be wrong), articles can contain either, but were not to specifically be changed to one or the other. Just wondering why the change in English's. Newnam(talk) 00:34, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hey, thanks for the response. You're right, it is no big deal...I was just wondering. What you said sounds right, so that's good enough for me. Thanks for satisfying my curiosity. Newnam(talk) 21:23, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ryton references

I have added the references as you requested. I suggest you look to see how I have done this (in terms of syntax), and to check that I have done what you inteded. Peterkingiron 21:22, 24 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

North East England

edit

I did create a section on Education, which someone has recently changed, to include private schools. I was referring to state schools. In other parts of the UK, there are state selective schools, but there are none in the North East. In general, the state schools in the North East do not perform as high as other areas, particularly the North West. This is true for many former coal mining areas. I was a bit disappointed by the North East schools. The private schools are much better, and the good pupils appear to go to these instead. In the North West, the state grammar schools get much better results than the private schools. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by DinosaursLoveExistence (talkcontribs) 12:48, 27 February 2007 (UTC).Reply

File source problem with File:RytonHirings.jpg

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:RytonHirings.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:47, 9 April 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ricky81682 (talk) 00:47, 9 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:TynefromRytonWillows.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.
