Please don't unnecessarily or indiscriminately pipe links, as in, change Maratha to Maratha etc as you have been doing on dozens of articles recently. Abecedare (talk) 03:01, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
- But I can do it on Maratha Empire brother?? Helping Birds (talk) 03:03, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
- Please don't unless you have a specific reason to, which you explain clearly in the edit-summary or the concerned article's talkpage. The terms "Maratha Empire", "Martha Confederacy" and "Maratha" all are used by reliable sources depending upon the authors' preference and specific context and changing one to another indiscriminately is not fixing a "mistake". Abecedare (talk) 03:07, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
- But Maratha Empire is redirected to Maratha Confederacy and i'm placing the direct link of Maratha Confederacy. Sir?? Helping Birds (talk) 03:09, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
- See WP:NOPIPE for the reason why that is both unnecessary and inadvisable. Just let the redirects do their job. Abecedare (talk) 03:11, 4 July 2024 (UTC)

Introduction to contentious topics
editYou have recently edited a page related to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the template.
Please do not unnecessarily or indiscriminately pipe links, as in, change Rajputs to Rajputs, etc. as you have been doing on dozens of articles recently. I am repeating what @Abecedare said as you have failed to stop doing this; having a wikilink redirect to another article is completely fine; see WP:NOTBROKEN as well. Artificially increasing edit count
editPlease do not make dummy edits — edits which do not change the actual appearance of a page — or any unconstructive edits, which only artificially increase your edit count. If you just want extended confirmed rights to edit a certain page, please make an edit request to that page instead or make constructive contributions to other pages instead of trying to game the system for permissions. This includes reverting your own edits multiple times on your user page and changing the capitalization of the "r" in the reflist template. Flemmish Nietzsche (talk) 08:43, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
- No sir Helping Birds (talk) 08:45, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
- It is suggested you comply with this notice, as there may be repercussions for your edit count gaming, including a block, if you show that you are not here to build an encyclopedia. Thank you. Flemmish Nietzsche (talk) 08:48, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
- Help me Helping Birds (talk) 08:49, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
- Please see the help desk or visit the teahouse if you want further help. I am not saying you will be blocked this second, I am just suggesting that you stop making edits which are not very constructive; adding short descriptions and actually improving articles is great, but doing things such as changing "reflist" to "Reflist" or "reflist" to "<reflist/>", or making other non-changing edits just to increase your edit count, is not great as it suggests you may be trying to game the system. Thank you. Flemmish Nietzsche (talk) 08:53, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
- ok sir i will remember that Helping Birds (talk) 08:55, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
- You are still doing the exact thing I suggested you not do. Please at least explain why you make these unconstructive edits, so the appropriate action can be taken. Not all of your edits are unconstructive, but you continue to make many that are not helpful. If you do not know what to edit, please see the task center or the teahouse. Flemmish Nietzsche (talk) 09:14, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
- Sir, i'm improving the articles by adding short description and linking pages. Helping Birds (talk) 09:17, 12 July 2024 (UTC)

- I see that, and those edits and your other constructive edits are appreciated. I just want to make sure you are not making many edits which have no effect on the end user and that you are not trying to game the system by artificially increasing your edit count. Flemmish Nietzsche (talk) 09:21, 12 July 2024 (UTC)

- hello sir, Priya Malik (actor) is wrong name, she is female. Helping Birds (talk) 09:46, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
- "actor" is a sufficiently gender-neutral term here; it can refer to either a man or a woman and we don't need to change it to "actress". Flemmish Nietzsche (talk) 09:50, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
- but sir, i placed a request on talk page of Priya Malik (actor) to change its name???. Helping Birds (talk) 09:52, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
- How can i revert it. Helping Birds (talk) 09:52, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
- I have done so, and added the article to the relevant WikiProjects. Flemmish Nietzsche (talk) 09:58, 12 July 2024 (UTC)

- Sir, what is the use of DEFAULTSORT in an article on wikipedia. Helping Birds (talk) 10:07, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
- DEFAULTSORT affects the order in which articles are shown on category pages. For example, an article with the sortkey (the thing after the colon or pipe, in this case "Foo": DEFAULTSORT:Foo) of "New York Times, The" would be listed under "N" in a category page instead of the default of under "T" to help with categorization. Flemmish Nietzsche (talk) 10:13, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
- Ok sir Helping Birds (talk) 10:16, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
- Also, you generally don't have to worry about changing the DEFAULTSORT on articles of people, as this is usually specified in the WPB template on the talk page. Flemmish Nietzsche (talk) 10:17, 12 July 2024 (UTC)

Please go through Template:More citations needed#When_to_use before placing the 'More citations needed' maintenance template in articles. Jeraxmoira🐉 (talk) 10:50, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
- I don't understand sir. Helping Birds (talk) 10:52, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
- This template indicates that the article needs additional inline citations. This template should be used only for articles where there are some, but insufficient, inline citations to support the material currently in the article. Jeraxmoira🐉 (talk) 10:53, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
- ok sir Helping Birds (talk) 10:54, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
- Please focus on contributing content instead of working on the maintenance part of Wikipedia. You are also misleading others with your edit summary when you add default sort. Those are not typos. [1] Jeraxmoira🐉 (talk) 10:59, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
- So what should I write in the edit summary, sir?? Helping Birds (talk) 11:01, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
