Welcome!
editWelcome to Wikipedia, Heron10! I am Brewcrewer and have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Wikipedia! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or by typing {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. I love to help new users, so don't be afraid to leave a message! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- Introduction
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- How to write a great article
- Manual of Style
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Oh yeah, I almost forgot, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome! brewcrewer (yada, yada) 02:33, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

editHi Heron10! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Paperback Software International that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. I'll also note that, as you phrased it, it looks like Sawyer was responsible for all of the software on the list, whereas your edit comment suggests that it was just the final item on the list. May I suggest that you review your edit, and also provide a source if you are going to maintain Sawyer's name in there. Nat Gertler (talk) 17:39, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
- I clarified my changes to Paperback Software and included reference stating Sawyer designed and coded VP-Expert Heron10 (talk) 21:38, 17 October 2023 (UTC)

- Perhaps you can help me understand how to salvage this article. I thought it was an interesting early artifact from the 1980's in the evolution of artificial intelligence. It is not an advertisement as the tool is outdated and obsolete now. Would it be "more neutral" if I added more context, discussing its limitations and show how later expert system shells have been enhanced by "fuzzy logic" and how they have been supplanted by software employing neural networks. Would mentioning other expert system shells that were contemporary to VP-Expert be helpful? I thought the subject was notable because of the significant applications that were built with the tools. I am puzzled by your objection to the references. Heron10 (talk) 22:38, 23 October 2023 (UTC)

The article Joshua Lynn has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
WP:BLP1E -- the material here that isn't about on specific case is local by-the-numbers politician coverage that doesn't reach WP:NPOL.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Nat Gertler (talk) 20:52, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
