Coleman Insights

edit

A tag has been placed on Coleman Insights, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Accounting4Taste:talk 23:08, 13 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your note. At the moment, the article has almost no chance of remaining in Wikipedia beyond today. The reason is made more clear in the links that I suggested you follow and read, but I'll try to boil it down for you. Essentially, the article is made up of self-serving declarations about what the company is and what it does, none of which are appropriate for Wikipedia; in addition, the article has major problems with our conflict of interest guidelines, since you're almost certainly connected with the company. What would be appropriate for Wikipedia is a selection of quotations from reliable sources that assert the notability of the company in a verifiable way. What impartial third parties say that the company is important, and where do they say so? Another crucial policy that the article has serious problems with is this policy about having a "neutral point of view". Your own assertions that the company is notable are not appropriate; only quotations from impartial third-party experts are of any use here. In fact, it may not even be possible for you to create an acceptable article if there are no appropriate citations; what might be appropriate is if the company was mentioned as part of an article about the general topic of the company's work and how the company has contributed -- in a verifiable way -- to that topic. In general, articles about companies are very difficult to craft in such a way that they will remain on Wikipedia. There is a difficult balance between notability and advertising that is difficult to maintain. Perhaps you should try to reconsider this from the point of view of a Wikipedia user. If for some reason you wanted to know more about the company, you could search Google for its website and read what it said about itself. If you were interested in the topic of the company's work, that's when you would come to Wikipedia, and what you will find there is not what the company says about itself but what others say about its contribution to that work, if any. I hope this is of use to you. I do recommend that you read through our introductory material and if you have any further questions, you can leave me a note.
