Pinochet

Hi there. In a couple of recent edits [1], [2], you have made changes about the name Pinochet. All the references I have seen indicate that, while the name is originally from France, it has been nativized in Spanish and was pronounced with a Spanish-style pronunciation /pinotʃet/. Since you're from Chile, I respect your difference of opinion here, but

• it's bad form to change claims that are supported by references. If you have references that claim the opposite, then add them and let the user judge between the competing claims. If necessary, go to the talk page.
• you marked both changes as "minor". Minor changes are supposed to be for things like grammar, spelling or format fixes, not for substantive changes in articles.

Buxtehude

Hallo and thanks for helping people to pronounce the name Dieterich Buxtehude. But I confess that I probably know too little about IPA, the symbols given would not help me. I don't find the middle syllable of the first name and would expect the "t" after the x (ks) the same sound as in the middle of the first name, the last d (hude) the same as the first letter of the first name. Thanks for your reply. The pronounciation is of course correct for Danish. But I understand that even though he may have been born in Denmark (nobody knows) he lived and worked in Germany for most of his adult life and is considered a German composer. His German name is Dieterich according to the latest studies (compare de-WP, article and long discussion). Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia.
