Speedy deletion nomination of I Will Stand (album)

A tag has been placed on I Will Stand (album) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a musical recording which does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and where the artist's article has never existed, has been deleted or is eligible for deletion itself. Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), such as at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Holland_Davis, please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, discussion pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Holland Davis, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Hello, I noticed that you may have recently made edits to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Holland Davis while logged out. Wikipedia's policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow the use of both an account and an IP address by the same person in the same setting and doing so may result in your account being blocked from editing. Additionally, making edits while logged out reveals your IP address, which may allow others to determine your location and identity. If this was not your intention, please remember to log in when editing. Please clarify on the deletion discussion page, if you have forgotten to login as "Hollanddavis", and have accidentally sent the message as 68.4.22.3. Sorry for my bad edit summary

Hi

I'd like to apologize for the following bad edit summary written by me: Special:Diff/855538576/prev

I have been looking at the page about 24 hours after your edit, and was reading through the new arguments, when I noticed that all bolded words on the page suddenly said "Keep". My "delete" vote had silently been modified; someone else seemed to have put their words in my mouth, above my signature. I am a bit allergic to this, but I realize that this has likely been a misinterpretation on my part, and not bad faith by you. I should have assumed this in the first place, per Wikipedia:Assume good faith. While replacing "Delete" with "Keep" is unlikely to be a random typo, it might very well never have been intended to be a modification of someone else's words. Also, the rest of the edit (insertion and deletion of "the" inside my comment, at two different places) clearly indicates that the text editing software has displayed something wrong. The cursor might have been somewhere else, and the editor added the text to an unexpected place, intransparently for the user. This sometimes happens to me as well, but I have learned to notice when this happens, and to abort editing and reload the page in these cases. I have noticed that the "syntax highlighting" option of the editor might have something to do with this.

About the specific summary, it was wrong of me to write this, for multiple reasons:

• I have been personally addressing you, something that is potentially problematic and to be avoided per WP:AVOIDYOU
• I have written it from a perspective of "us"/"our", not "me"/"my", although I later noticed that only my own comment has been modified. Also, the whole "us"/"our" thing creates unnecessary animosity by implying that "you" were allegedly not a part of "us", which could be interpreted as "the community" and would then be very wrong. Of course, you are an equally important, valued part of the community.
• I have been asking you about your personal motivation behind the edit, even supplying a specific allegedly possible reason, "kidding". This is wrong because the motivation is irrelevant, and comments should focus on the content, not the contributor, per Wikipedia:No personal attacks.
• I have been using the word "manipulating" to describe your action, but "manipulating" is an ambiguous word that can mean "modifying" or "tamper". The only acceptable usage is "modifying". By leaving this ambiguity unsolved, I have not been assuming good faith.

I should better have written: "Please do not modify other users' comments. I assume this was an accident -- don't worry, I'll fix this." I have then actually fixed it, by restoring your comment manually.

I'm curious how the deletion discussion will end. It appears to be going into the "keep" direction stronger than I had expected. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 14:12, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
