Holly Knight article
editHi! I apologize for the rude greeting. We have "welcome templates" that provide links to our rules and guidelines and to places to ask for help, so I'll be dropping one below, but I wanted to write a personal note first.
Please don't use misleading edit summaries like "minor grammatical correction" when you make major changes to an article. The attempt at deception just makes you look bad. Remember, anyone can see the history of the article. Oh I am sorry, the editor who reverted went back to a much earlier revision; that last edit was indeed very small. Please discount this paragraph.
Strictly speaking, if you are the subject of the article, or even someone close to them (such as a representative), you shouldn't be editing the article directly. The policy page is at WP:COI; a fuller explanation is here. The big reason for this is that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and we therefore value neutral presentation of verifiable facts very highly; those are two of our core principles. It's practically impossible to be neutral and write purely based on reliable, checkable published sources when writing about oneself. If you are Holly Knight, you should be posting on the article talk page, not overwriting bits of the article. You can probably find us a reliable source for Los Angeles and the two children a lot faster than I can; you will know about the latest awards for Knight's work, and where they were written up; and you were right to excise the supposed birth name, as I found when I checked the source. But that would have been removed a lot faster if you'd pointed it out on the talk page (or even just excised that mistaken info pointing out in your edit summary that the source was being misinterpreted, and raised anything else on the talk page).
I am sorry nobody has explained this earlier, and it must seem very bureaucratic. But at this point, please post to the talk page about what else should be changed in your view. Someone has already started a section.
I'll post that big template with my next edit here. Yngvadottir (talk) 22:11, 17 November 2017 (UTC)
Welcome!
