Welcome

edit

Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. I'm glad that you've decided to help, and I hope you find editing here as fun and rewarding as I do. :)

To help you get acquainted with Wikipedia, you might check out our introduction and tutorial, and if you need help, you can check our FAQ, ask at the help desk, or place {{helpme}} and your question on this page, and someone will come by to help out.

You are encouraged to be bold, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to look over the five pillars that summarize Wikipedia's policies and guidelines to further familiarize yourself with how things work here.

Lastly, please remember to sign your posts to discussion areas (like this one), but not contributions to articles, by typing four tildes (~~~~) after your message. That will automagically be transformed into your username and the timestamp when you save the page.

Again, welcome. WODUP 03:30, 4 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Help with naming of articles

edit

{{helpme}} If a page (or its URL) is incorrectly titled, how do you fix it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ijmitchell (talkcontribs) 22:28, 8 July 2010

When you leave messages, please remember to "sign" your name, by putting ~~~~ (four tilde signs) at the end. This will add your name, and the date and time. You can also do this by clicking the 'sign' button, pictured to the right.
To change the article title, you move it to the new name.
For more help, you can either;
  • Leave a message on my own talk page; OR
  • Use a {{helpme}} - please create a new section at the end of your own talk page, put {{helpme}}, and ask your question - remember to 'sign' your name by putting ~~~~ at the end; OR
  • Talk to us live, with this or this.
The last of those is particularly useful - please try it; pop in now and say hello. Chzz  ►  22:36, 8 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
