Request reason:
Caught by a colocation web host block but this host or IP is not a web host. My IP address is user talk:208.87.232.0/21. Place any further information here. Indy208 (talk) 15:59, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
Accept reason:
It appears that this has been addressed (block dropped to anon only, and account creation allowed): [1]. Please reach out to me if you continue to have trouble editing. SQLQuery Me! 22:01, 27 March 2023 (UTC) @SQL: Thanks. Don't hesitate to turn off account creation if you see any vandalism from new accounts. Indy208 (talk) 21:55, 28 March 2023 (UTC)

Can we grant a block exemption here? Vanjagenije (talk) 16:30, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
- Looking. --Yamla (talk) 17:09, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
- Checkuser data supports granting IPBE here. --Yamla (talk) 17:11, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
- The range, which is the Brooklyn Public Library, has been blocked as a colo web host since 2018. The small number of users who have recently been using that range with IPBE have long tenure on Wikipedia -- 2009, 2014 and 2006. But the range has also been used by various socks and long term abusers. There's been some discussion at User talk:208.87.236.201. I'm having trouble seeing where this account fits into our WP:IPBE guidelines. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆𝄐𝄇 17:12, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
- Perhaps I spoke too soon. Jpgordon is correct. I saw no evidence of abuse here and so was assuming good faith, but was planning on monitoring contributions. However, Jpgordon correctly brings up there's been a fair amount of abuse, too. --Yamla (talk) 17:16, 18 March 2023 (UTC)

- @Indy208: Why are you using the IP address of the Brooklyn Public Library? Is there some reason ? Vanjagenije (talk) 17:25, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
@Vanjagenije:, Sorry for the long time in responding. I come here on weekends. I'm only asking this because many people tell me they can't edit. We have many meetups at the central library and they all say they're unable to edit even after they're able to request an account. To many, the BPL is their only access to wikipedia so it's rather unusual to block logged in users from editing at a public site like this. Indy208 (talk) 15:02, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Indy208, I'm presently looking at this one. Full disclosure, I've blocked this range in the past as well. It looks from the IP talkpage that users at the library can bypass this block by not editing Wikipedia from 'private mode' in the browser, is this still correct? SQLQuery Me! 17:05, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
@SQL: Nope, when you leave out "anon only" it blocks all non-admin editors -- even when they log in. There's no "private mode" and even attempt to edit from wifi generate the block message. So yes you can advise us to request an account and you'll grant it but there's no way to edit with the current status of this IP. Indy208 (talk) 20:11, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
- All modern browsers (at least that I'm aware of) have a "private mode", Chrome calls it "Incognito". The post was from someone last year, so I figured I'd ask if it was still applicable. I agree that AN might be a more appropriate venue than here. SQLQuery Me! 23:13, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
Regarding your edit at m:Steward requests/Global
editHi Indy208, I understand you are not able to directly edit your user talk page here, but your edit at Steward requests/Global was inappropriate. Please don’t submit reports for the purpose of retaliation because of a legitimate block placed by the blocking administrator on the English Wikipedia. Tropicalkitty (talk) 20:10, 28 May 2023 (UTC)
@Tropicalkitty: what am I supposed to do? Someone chose to block me at random and I can’t respond when I log in. Indy208 (talk) 16:04, 29 May 2023 (UTC)
- Perhaps the tone of the message above may have been a bit harsh, so I apologize. I would like to say though that Stewards requests/Global is only to report obvious cross-project disruption, or other reasons listed at m:Global locks. Tropicalkitty (talk) 03:35, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
- If you attempted to edit, you would have seen a message indicating that you are blocked from editing, with the information shown on how to appeal the block (which is now also visible here). Additionally, there's also the Wikipedia:Unblock Ticket Request System, that's used in most situations. Tropicalkitty (talk) 03:50, 30 May 2023 (UTC)

editNote that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should review the guide to appealing blocks, and then appeal your block by adding the following text below this notice:
{{unblock|Your reason here ~~~~}}
. Note that anything you post in your unblock request will be public, so you may alternatively use the Unblock Ticket Request System to submit an appeal if it contains information that must be private.Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or by administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting with a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee. Administrators who undo checkuser blocks without permission from a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee may be summarily desysopped.
