Just to clarify, AfD discussions are not about a specific version of the entry, but about whether the subject itself is notable, per WP:ARTN and WP:NEXIST. You might also check out WP:BEFORE for advice on the kinds of searches to perform in order to evaluate the subject’s notability before nominating in the future. Perfume list - I use Fragrantica references, OK?
Good job clearing the List of perfumes up. Just in case you'll see my edits: I use Fragrantica site. Unfortunately, it has a window called "great deals at EBay". Since EBay is, basically, an online flea market, I have no problem with using Fragrantica as a source of data on perfumes.
It's not like I'm promoting stuff, it's just because I don't really have the time to sift through .PDFs and can't use actually promotional materials from glam mags. 81.89.66.133 (talk) 06:34, 7 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for your message, I appreciate your reaching out. Fragrantica’s database gives no indication of a fact-checking process though, so we can’t count on it as a reliable source. Given the amount of promotion that list attracts, we need to be vigilant about high-quality sources. Thanks for your help on it. Innisfree987 (talk) 09:07, 7 March 2024 (UTC)
- To add, I would actually support restricting that list to only perfumes that meet Wikipedia’s standard for notability, since at this point thousands of perfumes are released every year and Wikipedia is not a directory nor an indiscriminate list. At minimum, to justify mention, we need to see some notice in a reliable secondary source; merely existing isn’t enough. Innisfree987 (talk) 09:13, 7 March 2024 (UTC)
