Diplomatic missions by country

The comprimise solution we have developed is that Turkish diplomatic missions can be listed under "Asia", not "Europe". This follows the United Nations Geocode system. Kransky (talk) 00:01, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

My image page

Hello Izmir lee. You made an edit and changed an image in my personal image gallery ,in a sub-page of my user-dominion - please do not do so again! This is a big breach of wikipedia rules and etiquette - one does not change, basically, an user page (only in very rare and extreme circunstances), and doing so can be considered vandalism. Hi. It looks you have been stealing a map from another user and trying to submit it as your own piece of work. This is the original map [1], this is the map you uploaded [2] and then inserted into the article instead of the original map [3]. Would you care to explain this action? It seems that Image:Location Turkey in Europe.png also exists on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:Image:Location of the Republic of Turkey.png, but that version does not say that you are the author. Your comments on my talkpage do not imply an open mind. I am not a supporter of the PKK, but i have visited Kurdistan several times and know many kurdish people, some of them citizens of Turkey. Thank you for correcting the map that I made with mistakes. :-). It was indeed an unforgivable mistake. That day I made nearly three maps and the mistakes went unnoticed by me and other editors as well. however there is one pproblem in your map, It seems like BELARUS is included. - Yo don't edit the userbox like that! Freedom of Speech! Dont know why they should be banned at all, the have developed Turkey so well than any other party, and are looking to go into the EU. Lifting the headscarf ban is actually a big step forward to freedom and democracy in the Turkey. Secular Turkey has become more religious, 60% the majority of the people do not support the Kemalist ideology etc. The AK party is the right choice, no wonder over 40% of the people voted for them! No other party can match this one, with their political skills in development in Economy. the Turkish people have chosen them because your 'secular' governments could not tackle poverty etc. during the 90s - Then other parties promised the return to Islam will help ease the crisis. And as you can see it has! All for just the headscarf problem! Come on! The most simple freedom and rights for the people, it is present in Christian predominant countries ie UK and USA, but not in predominant 'Muslim' country Turkey. Sorry about that. but YouTube in Turkey was banned because of conflicts between Greek and Turkish users over the abuse of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk over the video comments made about him, and you will see many attacking videos towards him about him being a Jew and Gay under-cover taking over Turkey, that is the reason why it has been banned unfortunately. Erm.. OK... I dont look at those western things but I think people dont go on YouTube to look for porn, its against their policies. The non-Muslim population is only 0.2% compared to 99.8%, I think it does make sense for the right to ban it. If you want to look at porn really badly go to Google and type something in, but I advice don't. People can't voice their concerns over this issue, because pornography is involved with adultery - which is bad and wrong, against religion - plus... embarrassing. You know I would have thought that all Turks would be happy with the country, the party has made it more advanced and the biggest and fastest economy in the region, is secularism more important than growth or the economy of the country? The party is the only one which is trying to get Turkey into the EU, they are looking to Europe rather than Middle East. Headscarf issue is only a matter of freedom and rights.

So if the party was going to bring Sharia, as it is a claim, then why would it look to go into the EU then. Secularists in Turkey do not want to go into the EU, because it will conflict with Turkish laws. It does not make sense so, if Turkey was part of the EU now, then there is no way Sharia law will be present in Turkey. By the way, if the party does get banned, Turkey won't be going into the EU because it has been decided by the court rather than the people casting their votes in the ballot boxes to ban the party. The Turkey map

Hi. I've gone reverted the Turkey map again, though it looks like you've reverted that. This really shouldn't be a debate about whether Turkey is European. The point of the map is not to make any claims about that sort of thing. The point of the map is very pragmatic: to allow a reader who doesn't know where Turkey is located to figure out where it is. So, in general, having a country in the middle of the map would seem to make the most sense, unless there's a very good reason not to do so (such as avoiding having half the map be ocean). It's also important to have countries that people are likely to recognize (such as England, since this is the English wikipedia) on the map, and the map I chose (unlike some others that have been suggested) includes all of Britain. The map isn't ideal (I just chose the best one from the ones available on wikimedia commons), but I think it does the best job of allowing people to locate Turkey. As for your note about Turkey not being horizontal, all maps (including the one you prefer) will necessarily have some distortions due to the nature of map projections. Please discuss this on the talk page so that we can get some consensus rather than having an edit war. Thanks. Klausness (talk) 11:04, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Well, I'd say the Cyprus locator map should definitely be changed, Greece is borderline, and Italy is probably OK (though I think it would be better if it showed more of Africa and less of the arctic). But I haven't looked to see if commons has better maps for those, and I imagine any changes I tried to make to the Cyprus article would stir up huge amounts of controversy. But the fact that other articles have less than ideal maps doesn't mean that the Turkey article should. Anyway, I think this is better discussed on the talk page, since I'm sure other editors also have opinions, and we should be trying to get some sort of consensus about the best map to use. I saw your edits on Bulgaria and got interested in you, so to speak. I'll get to it in a jippy, but first to tell you about the maps issue - from my observation of wikipedia till now, I can tell you that you might get blocked if you don't stop edit-warring now. As Fut.Perf told you step down and re-think it. It's not a battle, but if it was, it's not that bad having lost a small one. As for the Turkey map - I don't think it implies Turkey is an Asian country or something, but the other way round it looked really bad. This is from a neutral point of view.

Now to get to you - so you're for a European Turkey and so on and that's great. I've being willing to meet such an editor. I've got tons of questions for you (EU is sort of a speciality of mine and they'll all resolve around it). Firstly, to get it started what do you think of Turkey's chances for EU membership - sooner, later, never? Who do you think opposes your accession the most. Well, that's all for now. Revert-warring on multiple articles

You appear to be engaged in revert-wars across several articles and have broken WP:3RR several times now. Please refrain from doing so and voice your objections in the talk page instead of blindly reverting. Your edit summaries do not offer valid arguments, and mechanically reverting other users is really unhelpful. Turkey is not a European country and saying so doesn't make it so. This is why there is so much opposition to Turkey joining the EU. Most people in Europes do not consider Turkey to be a European country. I for one have NEVER come across a single source stating "Turkey is a European country". Only 3% of Turkey's territory is in Europe, so by your logic, France should also be classified as a South American country. Also, you argument about "climate" is even more absurd. By that logic, Syria and Tunisia should also be classified as European. As your contribs log shows, all you do is systematically go around and remove anything associating Turkey with Asia or the Middles East. I do not know what your reasons are for doing this, but please keep it to yourself and don't disrupt Wikipedia. The Hellenic culture left mnay monuments in Cyprus. Later, by the mid-16th Century Cyprus had a population almost (if not entirely) Christian, and who considered themselves politically, religiously, and in a great many cases, ethnically European. Then Ottoman colonisation followed, making the popultion more diverse. During (I believe) the mid- to late- 19th Century, various areas identified with "Greece" gained independence from the Ottomans, with Cyprus falling under British administration following their assistance to Turkey against Russia. This is, I believe, a good part of why Cyprus is considered European. The irony is, of course, although Christianity is widely considered in Europe to be a European religion, it is arguably Asian. I would like to seek your view as to whether we should eliminate from the lists of diplomatic missions by sending/receiving countries all references to representative offices of sending states that do not have formal diplomatic missions with the host states. This would affect a large number of articles which relate to Taiwan, TRNC, Palestine, Kosovo and other states. Please provide your views here.
