Bkissin (talk) 12:38, 28 October 2020 (UTC)Ref #20 to "Times and Commercial Gazette 1847" can refer to one of the two entries in the bibliography -- Times and Commercial Gazette, St. John's, Newfoundland, September 8, 1847 OR Times and Commercial Gazette, St. John's, Newfoundland, October 23, 1847. Can you clarify which one is it supposed to be? You can differentiate the two sources by adding "a" and "b" to the year. I.e. Times and Commercial Gazette, St. John's, Newfoundland, October 23, 1847b. Renata (talk) 04:27, 11 November 2020 (UTC)
Hi, I see you tried to fix it, but there is still ambiguity. The "a" and "b" also need to be added to the {{sfn}} citation within the text. Can you tell me which of the gazette issues are meant for these sentences and I'll fix it?
- Potato fields that "had never been known to fail" were turned into wastelands, and Newfoundlanders rushed to harvest and store potatoes still unaffected by the blight.
- Many urged the denial of government relief, in the belief that, as a consequence of providing it, "the whole of the lower classes will become beggars by profession, and every principle of independence destroyed."
Thanks, Renata (talk) 15:43, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
- I just saw your note. Thank you. I will look at the source material shortly, and give you the info you need. Thanks again for helpingJacquesmort (talk) 15:34, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
- Renata3, I hope you can be patient with me. I am an almost complete amateur as a contributor, and appreciate your help. I'm almost certain that the citations are in the same chronological order as the issues of the paper. I should be able to confirm tomorrow.Jacquesmort (talk) 03:59, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
- I was wrong! The fist Citation No. 20 refers to the "Times and Commercial Gazette", dated October 23, 1847; the second Citation No. 20 comes from the September 18, 1847, edition. Once more, I want to thank you for helping me. I'll look closely at how you fix this mistake so that I'll know how to handle similar cases in the future.
