The Voice Vandalism

Hello there, TVSGuy here, and I came to inform about some shocking discovery after seeing the history logs for articles for The Voice in particular. I deduce it was the same user sharing this group of IP address (Special:Contributions/69.126.0.0/16) after much checks and there is without a doubt it was the same user, judging by the same first two numbers of IP address as well as the editing patterns (which also violated the WP:MOS). You can use this to check through the records and show the findings when you lodge a report in the future. Thanks and take care. TVSGuy (talk) 15:42, 7 June 2021 (UTC)

This same user is at it again using a new IP address, and I was right (69.126.206.17) this falls under a group of same IP, and doing the same thing and violating the MOS again. This happened yesterday. I will help you lodge a report as well, you help revert his updates. Thanks and cheers. TVSGuy (talk) 04:18, 12 June 2021 (UTC)

Fly (Aya Nakamura song)

Hi, I've noticed you reverted my dummy edit here, is it normal to self revert dummy edits after making them? -- Justiyaya (talk) 14:45, 3 June 2021 (UTC)

Justiyaya, You don't have to revert them, but yes, it is normal. I don't know why it's not mentioned at WP:DUMMY though. Jalen Folf (talk) 14:46, 3 June 2021 (UTC)
Okay, thanks for telling me. Justiyaya (talk) 14:49, 3 June 2021 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) @JalenFolf @Justiyaya I'm not actually sure this is normal. I vaguely remember reading on a talk page somewhere about this. Apologies if I'm mistaken! ― Qwerfjkl | 𝕋𝔸𝕃𝕂  (please use {{reply to|Qwerfjkl}} on reply) 20:50, 23 June 2021 (UTC)

Regarding Draft Page Notice

Hi Jalen, AaronSaikyo here. Thank you for reaching out on my talk page to inform me about the current status of my draft page (Draft:All_Star_Tower_Defense). Would you be able to specify what parts are considered to be promotional, so I may fix the draft appropriately? Thank you for the help.

AaronSaikyo (talk) 23:26, 14 June 2021 (UTC)

AaronSaikyo, Nothing wrong with your initial creation. My only concern is that other users decided to come in and add in the promotional language, which also included one of the devs of the game without disclosure of connection, a violation of WP:COI. Was this draft shared with a community? Cause that's how drafts can turn into fan pages, as I've also experienced with another draft of a different Roblox game, Stepford County Railway.
If G11 is declined, then all I can recommend is locating reliable sources that significantly cover the Roblox game itself. Not every Roblox game can achieve notability overnight, and in its current state, the draft may be declined for notability reasons if submitted through Articles for creation. Jalen Folf (talk) 02:05, 15 June 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for clarifying the situation. I gave the link to these individuals solely to ensure that the information was correct, as I did not wish to fully submit a page that may possess incorrect information. Fruit was one of these individuals because as a director for the game, accuracy of the information could be ensured. Pertaining to the other individuals, I sought them for formatting and page help. On that note, should I contest the deletion, or do another action? Once again, thank you for identifying the issues with the draft page. AaronSaikyo (talk) 02:28, 15 June 2021 (UTC)

AaronSaikyo, At this point, if you still believe the page is not promotional, and have a strong case for it, then yes, you can contest the deletion. Jalen Folf (talk) 03:48, 15 June 2021 (UTC)

Sullivan King

Hi Jalen,

I'd like to dispute your contention that my creation of an (admittedly stubby) article for Sullivan King was promotional. King is a notable musical artist under the guidelines at WP:MUSIC and the article I wrote cited several sources establishing this (I'm not affiliated with King in any way whatsoever). If you disagree, I'm happy to discuss further on the talk page, but for now I've reverted the change and reinstated my initial stab at the article. Thanks. Meelar (talk) 16:00, 19 June 2021 (UTC)

Editing of Pavel Sudoplatov's page

Hello JalenFolf,

May I ask for a reasoning why all my edits were reverted on Pavel Sudoplatov page? I added multiple sources to confirm the facts.

Thank you. Picky3000 (talk) 06:50, 21 June 2021 (UTC)

To put it simply, the wording and the sources to back it up violate our guidelines on WP:NPOV. Jalen Folf (talk) 09:12, 21 June 2021 (UTC)

The Mod Club Page

Hey Jalen, I am trying to stop a mis-representation of our business. We have lost our page on wikipedia because The Axis club is being mis-represented as formerly the mod club. There are new owners and they have no association with the mod club. The mod club was open for over 10 years and now there is nothing to show on wikipedia because of this issue? I don't understand how this is okay/legal?

I looked into this, and I can't find any proof that the Axis Club has any associations with the owners of the Mod Club Theatre. Mstronymontana does seem to be telling the truth. Should we move the page back to Mod Club Theatre? Hydrogenation (talk) 19:40, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
I've moved the page back. HorrorLover555 please refer to this thread for info on reversion of your move. Jalen Folf (talk) 19:44, 22 June 2021 (UTC)

Thank you very much, I appreciate it and sorry for not going about it the right way at the beginning. I opened my account today only to deal with this.

Mel Brindle Bio

Hello Jalen, You have edited my addition to Melbourne Brindle's bio twice for lack of citation. I have looked and am unsure how to cite something that I know from personal knowledge. I knew Mr. Brindle and his first wife of more than 50 years, Louise "Mimi" Ives Congdon Brindle. Their union can be verified through documents on ancestry.com and personal photos etc but I don't see a way to cite those within Wikipedia. Mimi was an amazing woman and should not be written out of their history.

Minerva Academy

Hello, Can you please remove the redirection of Minerva Academy FC to RoundGlass Punjab. Both are two different teams. I cannot open the Minerva Academy FC page anymore. Regards

@J Football: You can still access the old content in the page's history. When you get redirected, a link appears at the top of the page where it says "Redirected from", and that link should take you back to the intended page. As far as your original request is concerned, I cannot do that per what ArsenalFan700 said. You might want to address your concerns with that user instead. Jalen Folf (talk) 19:04, 7 July 2021 (UTC)

Jaiden Animations draft

So is this ready to pass notability? Please see Draft talk:Jaiden Animations and chime in on whether this is now ready to pass notability. If enough of the objectors in AFC and AFDs are on board, we can push to remove the salt. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 18:15, 21 July 2021 (UTC)

AngusWOOF, Thanks for notifying. I was only involved in this draft to remove a promotional version, but I would definitely say that the current version of the draft is a pass. Jalen Folf (talk) 20:18, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
Thanks. Looks like another editor pushed it forward to mainspace now. Hopefully there are enough editors out there to keep it neutral. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 16:58, 23 July 2021 (UTC)

Crescent Dunes

Hi Jalen,

I have seen you have changed the editions I have done on Crescent Dunes. Not sure if you have anything related with this project but for some people that we work at this place and we have made it make it work, it is kind of frustating seing information that isn't accurate.

I hope you can respect the post I have done, as those are more accurate of what was posted I still let important information about the history of the project. There is also updated information that you don't have unless you were working here.

I have no account on wikipedia, not sure if you reply back I will be able to see.

Thanks for your support.

Hi IP. It looks like you might have a conflict of interest; in other words, it's hard to write neutrally about the subject you are trying to edit. I've been reverting your and many other editors edits on this page for not only this very reason, but every attempt to claim reactivation of the project has gone unsourced. Since conflict of interest is in place here, it's best to avoid editing the article directly and instead propose these changes on the Talk page at Talk:Crescent Dunes Solar Energy Project. Also, if you are being paid to make these edits, then you are required to disclose this as per WP:DISCLOSEPAY. Thank you for your understanding in this matter. Deletion of Page Titled "Ayshia Taskin"

Good morning,

A page titled "Ayshia Taskin" was deleted before I could contest and give a reason why it should not be deleted. I see that it has been deleted and will add the reason here. I look forward to your reply.

"This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... (The page regards the contribution to Intermedia art by a MENA-region, Turkish Cypriot female Intermedia artist and curator. Their conceptual artwork on the blockchain/NFT space corresponding with research on Intermedia art and how conceptual art is understood and experienced. Focus on this artist and page corresponds with research surrounding the 'creative female voice' focused on a diverse group of women artists which should be included on public knowledge sites like Wikipedia. Articles intended to spread knowledge and diversify perspectives and experiences of art due to female artists remaining 'undervalued' within the cannon of art history. Research is conducted on this artist-curator which aims to dissect and understand their contribution to Intermedia art which can be built upon by other researchers/writers on Wikipedia and edited to meet Wikipedia standards.

However, although I am putting effort into writing this Wikipedia entry, I have reason to believe it is futile and that there is a degree of racism or unconscious bias toward the artist where the page has been declined without any offer of editing through collaborative effort although live news coverage on BBC and News channels in Scotland, articles written and magazine entries about this artist exist. If the case is racism, bigotry or unconscious bias, then should information fall to gate-keeping by such individuals? I am sure, as logical individuals, you will agree on this matter. Otherwise, where is the objectivity of the reviewers? It would be appreciated if a variety of neutral reviewers could also look at, edit and contribute to the article based on the research conducted thus far or based on growing information. If it is not possible for this to happen, then perhaps the draft could remain untouched until other information becomes available? If any part of the draft is unambiguously promotional, then I openly request that such parts be rewritten by the community to meet Wikipedia standards.)" --0penS0urx (talk) 04:44, 26 July 2021 (UTC)

While "edited to meet Wikipedia standards" is valid, the subject does not appear to have sufficient notability for inclusion on Wikipedia, and a draft with only self-published citations adds to the promotion case. Also consider checking the wording on future drafts, as this is also what we look for when determining promotional editing (more at User:Deepfriedokra/promo). If my explanation isn't clear enough, I also recommend going to the talk page of the deleting admin and make your case there, as the deleting admin usually has a better explanation for the specific reason for deletion. Tagging pages for speedy deletion

Hello, JalenFolf,

Please do not tag any pages as being the work of a blocked sockpuppeteer unless the account creating the page is a confirmed sockpuppet, not just based on your suspicions or on allegations in a SPI case. Now, I'm having to spend time untagging pages because the page creator of these drafts is not only not a confirmed sockpuppet but they aren't even blocked which is just a time-consuming task when I'd rather be doing other things. Liz Read! Talk! 04:16, 27 July 2021 (UTC)

You also need to identify what sockpuppeteer an account is a sockpuppet of so that an admin can follow up on the tagging by looking at an SPI or an account. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 04:29, 27 July 2021 (UTC)
Liz, Would the affected pages by chance also be eligible for G11, save for one redirected draft? I know I tagged one of them for G11 in a multiple criteria template and nearly all drafts appear to be duplicates of each other per subject. Jalen Folf (talk) 05:29, 27 July 2021 (UTC)
@Liz: This is just a massive promotional sockfarm churning out dozens of the same articles under increasingly elaborate titles each day. The ranges are too wide and dynamic to block, but they they are indeed evading multiple blocks. I understand why you would be hesitant to CSD them, so I've done so. JalenFolf, perhaps to avoid confusion in the future, maybe just leave me a note on my talk page (as you did today) instead of tagging the articles? It may not be immediately obvious to the reviewing admins that the IPs are socking. -- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 22:49, 27 July 2021 (UTC)

Meridional French and Francitan

Hello JalenFolf, There was a splitting in the french version between "Meridional French" and "Francitan". In english version, there's only "Meridional French". For all the others languages, there's only "Francitan".

I presume that english lectors of Wikipedia prefer to have an access to the both articles.--Diddou (talk) 15:31, 28 July 2021 (UTC)

Diddou, Whatever the case is on other language wikis does not matter here; English Wikipedia's policies and guidelines are very different from the French Wikipedia. Jalen Folf (talk) 15:44, 28 July 2021 (UTC)

This IP

Hi there, this IP, which you gave a much needed AA2 warning,[1] states that he works at the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, an institution funded by the government of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The obvious conflict of interest is therefore even admitted by himself (promoting Ilham Aliyev and the overal doctrines of his government). The IP is also trying[2] all that he can to obscure the Persian origins of one of the greatest Persian poets (Nizami Ganjavi), in line with another well-known doctrine of the republic of Azerbaijan where they try to Azerbaijanify/Turkify this historic figure (see also; Campaign on granting Nizami the status of the national poet of Azerbaijan, Historical_negationism#Azerbaijan, Media freedom in Azerbaijan). IMO, if this continues, this IP should be blocked per WP:NOTHERE and WP:SOAPBOX. - LouisAragon (talk) 13:10, 3 August 2021 (UTC)

For the record, I just noticed that he keeps accusing you.[3] This won't look good at ANI. - LouisAragon (talk) 13:11, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
LouisAragon, I'll be sure to make my comments when the ANI report happens. Thanks! Jalen Folf (talk) 13:52, 3 August 2021 (UTC)

Why is my article getting removed even after I keep correcting what supposedly is wrong.

First of all I really want to know if you are not very active on Wikipedia how is it that my article keeps on getting removed by you for the same reason that has already been corrected; and that shouldn't have been a reason to remove the whole article in the first place. Second, I clearly stated on my edit that I corrected what had been brought to notice before which was that there was no source.. this last time I included a source that backed up some of the details I wrote about in the 'JoJo Pellegrino' page and I cited it correctly to avoid copyright. I don't even understand why the reliable source is so necessary when all I wrote about is facts, nothing I heard or think .. still I include a source and still it gets removed for the same reason that isn't clear or constructive. It's actually getting ridiculous how difficult you guys are trying to make this, please try to be more helpful rather than destructive; Tell me clearly what's wrong and help me edit the article maybe, or just note what's wrong so it can be fixed.. but WHY remove the whole article when it's about someone well deserving of a wiki page that talks about the facts of his career. Could even say its starting to look like something personal

Chos3nC3Chos3nC3 (talk) 16:56, 22 August 2021 (UTC)

Chos3nC3, Please see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jojo Pellegrino; the edits you are making do not seem to address the concerns raised in that discussion. Jalen Folf (talk) 16:58, 22 August 2021 (UTC)

You did the same thing to my article with no reason other than “advertising or promoting” yet in the article it clearly has none of that. Just stating facts. Maddison Hund (talk) 18:21, 1 September 2021 (UTC)

Reverting Merge of "Vulnerable narcissism"

I noted that you reverted the merger of Vulnerable narcissism, I assume, on general principles. Can I suggest that you please evaluate the situation and weigh in on the discussion? There are hours of work that have been put in limbo. Some things to possibly consider:

1. The merged article's talk page has notes about how bad the citations are and has a banner that says "This topic is in need of attention from an expert on the subject." Talk:Vulnerable narcissism

2. The primary contributor has a history of posting "junk articles". User talk:M. Martinez 2020

3. If you read the material, it's clear that the Vulnerable narcissism article was written without the basic understanding that subtypes are systems, not isolated phenomenon.

4. The merger is already complete. A new section has been created and populated in the landing article; Narcissistic personality disorder#Subtype theories

5. There isn't much material editing activity/interest on either article. These are not "hot topics". Talk:Narcissistic personality disorder#Merger discussion

From a practical point of view, I'm an occasional editor. I won't be checking back for the weeks to come to see if a discussion materializes. Will that result in the troubled article being left up indefinitely? 97.99.90.245 (talk) 03:33, 2 September 2021 (UTC)

The revert was made by another IP, not me. It is not advised to move forward with a merge of a topic if such action would be controversial for other users. Jalen Folf (talk) 03:45, 2 September 2021 (UTC)
That person apparently did not participate in either article, nor participate in any merge discussion, nor any psychology articles in their history - they just reverted the work and removed the merge banner. Sounds like agree with that. I'll walk away. 97.99.90.245 (talk) 04:24, 2 September 2021 (UTC)

Tagging pages for speedy deletion

Hello, Jalen,

I don't think some of the pages that you are tagging as "promotional" or "advertising" are. For example, Draft:Anonymous3337743527 was an attack page about another game player. There are fewer criteria for speedy deletion for drafts than articles so please don't try to label a bad draft as promotional because you think the page should be deleted. This criteria was really for pages that are self-promotional or promoting a company, not for really lame pages. Abandoned drafts, which these pages most likely will be, will be deleted in six months any way so there isn't an urgency to delete them unless they are violating BLP or copyright or are actually advertising. Thank you for your work. Liz Read! Talk! 02:38, 3 September 2021 (UTC)

Did you do a search for "Roblox" among draft pages? Liz Read! Talk! 02:47, 3 September 2021 (UTC)
Liz, Yes, that is exactly what I did. It's unfortunately a common search to find drafts eligible for one of the deletion criteria, however, I'm aware not all drafts are eligible at this time. Jalen Folf (talk) 02:48, 3 September 2021 (UTC)

Your revert of List of oldest state leaders

Hello JalenFolf, while you're right that the list I created contained no sources, those are easily available for each entry via that person's WP article. FWIW, I collected most of the entries from other WP lists (Lists of state leaders by age, List of popes by age etc., where there are also no sources given for those persons' ages at the end of their reign (except for the Dandalo source in the footnotes that I copied). List of youngest state leaders since 1900, which I had checked for comparison before, also contained no sources, yet has existed undisturbed for over a decade (until your edit there today). So if you don't actually dispute the correctness of the data in the list, I'd ask you to restore it - feel free to add the Template:Unreferenced to indicate lack of sources. Then I (or other users) can easily add the sources from the individuals' articles.--2A01:598:928E:71AA:ED42:811F:B8D1:1897 (talk) 19:52, 30 September 2021 (UTC)

IP, something you should know is that you are responsible for making sure there are sources yourself. ColinFine once said, "If writing Wikipedia articles was building houses, what you have done is said 'I think a house would be nice here. I've propped up some walls: would somebody please build the foundations for me.' Somebody might be willing to have a go at those foundations, but you're the one that wants that house there, so why should they?". ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 19:55, 30 September 2021 (UTC)
If there weren't better words to describe this situation, then Blaze just brought it up here. Verifiability is important for a subject's inclusion on Wikipedia, but also must be backed by reliable sources. The Unreferenced template includes links to various searches that can assist you in finding those sources. Jalen Folf (talk) 23:59, 30 September 2021 (UTC)

Speedy deletion taggings

Hello, JalenFolf,

Thank you for all of the work you do, finding spam in Draft space. I do have one request, if you have the time. I am following up on many of these pages with Twinkle warnings about writing autobiographies and also invitations for these new editors to visit the Teahouse. Since I won't be handling all of the pages you tag though, if you see these pages that are obviously written by young, new editors who are game players/musicians and are talking about their YouTube/Twitch/Soundcloud accounts, feel free to notify them about the futility of writing autobiographies and extend them an invitation to the Teahouse if you have a moment after you tag the page.

I'm hoping if they direct their questions to the Teahouse crew, rather than trying to write their bio more than once, it might lead to fewer deleted Draft pages. Thanks again for all your tagging. Liz Read! Talk! 06:03, 2 October 2021 (UTC)

Page sources

Hi,

Thank you for reviewing the page I created (Counterfire). I understand your point about the bulk of citations being from the website of the subject (an organisation), but as the majority of the content is explaining the views and ideas of the organisation, doesn't it make sense that these are backed up from the organisation itself? The alternative would be to not have citations, because they are not likely to be covered by other sources. Please let me know what the solution is.

Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shabbirlakha (talkcontribs) 12:20, 19 October 2021 (UTC)

@Shabbirlakha: Unfortunately, Wikipedia is built around the idea that reliable sources are required to establish general notability of a subject. Had the Counterfire article stayed up, another editor would have likely nominated it for deletion as per our deletion policy. If you would like more assistance with editing, consider asking for help at our Teahouse, where other editors will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have. Suade Labs

Hi JalenFolf,

Thank you for your feedback on my draft page (Suade Labs). I am new to Wikipedia editing, so your feedback is very helpful.

I have removed any references that were directly from the subject and either replaced them with suitable references or removed the points for which I could not find suitable references. I will resubmit the page. I am not sure what happened with the other user trying to bypass the process. That had nothing to do with me.

Thanks :) MaxD231291 (talk) 14:23, 1 November 2021 (UTC)

MaxD231291, No worries. I was not able to check if you resubmitted your draft, but if you did, I will just leave it open for another reviewer to handle. It's not just me reviewing drafts after all.   Jalen Folf (talk) 00:31, 4 November 2021 (UTC)

Restoration of Deletion

Greetings in Christ, It seems that my page, Magic Training (MT), was deleted with allegations of advertising. I gain no advertising from this page, and it is a collection of lore from groups within a game, detailing their history and such. I wish for this issue to be resolved, as I worked rather hard on the page and I was far from finished.

Sincerely Yours in Faith, --DominusEparch (talk) 23:08, 3 November 2021 (UTC)

Hi DominusEparch. I was only responsible for tagging the page for speedy deletion. Administrator Seraphimblade has determined that my tag was correct and has deleted the page. Aside from this, your content is still available in your sandbox to continue your work (as of writing this). If you would still like to back your case for the draftspace version, please talk to the deleting administrator. Thank you. Jalen Folf (talk) 00:30, 4 November 2021 (UTC)

You keep removing my posts

You keep removing my posts and redirecting back to an unrelated page. I am trying to share something that I feel is relevant to the Broken Record community and you say it's promotional. I have repeatedly read the guidelines and asked for help in chat forums and still anything I post is removed.Hwilkes (talk) 13:57, 4 November 2021 (UTC)

Hwilkes, Your last attempt at Sonstream was a short one sentence stub that was unencyclopedic, thus could have opened the door for promotion. Jalen Folf (talk) 19:01, 4 November 2021 (UTC)

Lupang Malabo Account

Hello, I am so sorry, Lupang Malabo was an account of my 10 year old son,I just found out about it today. So sorry he was so fascinated with trains and train stations, could you just block him here in this site. I already talked to him about what he has done. Sorry again for the trouble it caused you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LupangMalabo (talkcontribs) 00:48, 7 November 2021 (UTC)

We've heard this multiple times before. Although this is not an action I can take myself since I do not have admin rights and do not intend to go for admin on Wikipedia. Jalen Folf (talk) 01:24, 7 November 2021 (UTC)

2022 FIFA World Cup qualification – UEFA Second Round

Hello, I saw you undid my edit in "2022 FIFA World Cup qualification – UEFA Second Round". I do not understand why, since Portugal has 16 points and only three teams are not able to get a higher point, and four teams will be unseeded which makes it possible for Portugal to be unseeded. I might be wrong, but could you explain how come? --DonLovis (talk) 18:08, 8 November 2021 (UTC)

DonLovis, It's easy to forget two things about this:
  1. Five of the ten groups have six teams. To make things fair for seeding, results against sixth placed teams are not counted.
  2. The second-place teams are not final until after this month's matches.
If you still have an issue, I highly recommend starting a discussion on the article's Talk page. Jalen Folf (talk) 18:13, 8 November 2021 (UTC)

Sorry.

For deleting the reference. WissenBleibtMacht (talk) 18:51, 12 November 2021 (UTC)

C'mon!

Hello, JalenFolf,

JD098 has only been editing for one hour and has made 3 edits and their first edit was a test edit. I don't think you need to put the highest level vandalism warning on his talk page. Please be proportionate with the level of disruption and the editor's familiarity with Wikipedia and its policies. With an editor as new as this one is, it is more appropriate to welcome them, give them some guidelines and point them to the Teahouse than immediately threaten them with a block. If their disruption persists, then a block can be considered. Liz Read! Talk! 20:16, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
