I Would Like To Give Contribution To Super Animal Royale Wikipedia

Hi JalenFolf, I am Tabyhunterwolf. Nice to meet you. I am a former wiki editor from Super Animal Royale. I had asked permission from mods from Super Animal Royale. I would like to add some contribution to Super Animal Royale Wikipedia. However, you didn't allow me to do so. You could talk to mods in Super Animal Royale. https://discordapp.com/invite/animalroyale — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tabyhunterwolf (talkcontribs) 17:33, 27 October 2019 (UTC)

@Tabyhunterwolf: Hi. These external links fall under WP:ELNO; we do not allow social media links in the External Links section. Wikipedia is not the same as the Fandom Wikis. Jalen Folf (talk) 20:56, 27 October 2019 (UTC)

Tagging of Diaptomididae

I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Diaptomididae. I do not think that Diaptomididae fits any of the speedy deletion criteria  because A3 says "this criterion does not cover a page having only an infobox". I request that you consider not re-tagging Diaptomididae for speedy deletion without discussing the matter on the appropriate talk page. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 05:53, 29 October 2019 (UTC)

Elder High School: Need to reverse what you deleted...

Prior to your response, I already corrected the incorrect redirect for Tennis Coach Eric Toth. It was redirecting to the wrong person when selecting his name. You deleted Eric Toth the Tennis Coach from the page but need to reverse this as he is Notable. Bmack180 (talk) 23:43, 9 November 2019 (UTC)

Varien

Hi,

I noticed you reverted my changes to Varien's wiki page. I noticed the first time you asked for a source for unreleased material, and I added one (the source was from the artist directly). As an independent artist, the various announcements on their social media pages are currently the best source.

I also updated the page with about a years-worth of already released material (singles). When you reverted the page, you also undid all of the material which had already been released in 2019, not just the album. If for some reason the source for the unreleased album was not appropriate, I would still defend the other changes as they have already been released, and were added with formatting consistent with the existing information on the page. If absolutely necessary, I can provide an iTunes link to each of the new singles but seeing as how none of the others have them, it seems a bit odd.

Thank you for your patience. I hope I didn't come across as rude. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.38.153.3 (talk) 05:25, 12 November 2019 (UTC)

Hi. Please see both WP:SOCIALMEDIA and WP:SPS. For all unreleased material, part of the same requirements as WP:GNG apply: particularly reliable sources that are independent of the subject. In other words, another third-party source has to have written an article pertaining to the announced material first. Since none have covered it, the album cannot be added to his discography until release when, by then, reviews will have already come out or a valid marketplace source per WP:AFFILIATE can be used. I will look into the other releases and add each accordingly. Jalen Folf (talk) 05:30, 12 November 2019 (UTC)

Featured article nomination for "Saving Light"

Howdy, I'm messaging you to see if you would be able to review Saving Light in it's featured article nomination. The nomination only has one review, and that was pretty helpful, though I need more people to vote on it so it has a consensus so it can pass/fail. If you are able to/have the time to, I'd like you to review the article and give feedback/criticism of the article on it's FAN page. If you do not have the time, or simply don't want to review the article, that's fine. If you do though, please remain unbiased. Many Thanks. Micro (Talk) 11:24, 13 November 2019 (UTC)

Hey Micro! Unfortunately, I do not have any input for you at this time. Good luck with the review! Jalen Folf (talk) 21:50, 13 November 2019 (UTC)

Why would you revert my corrected edit back to a false eidt? Please clarify. Myotis (talk) 09:16, 14 November 2019 (UTC)

@Myotis: I can understand your case, but Wikipedia relies on reliable sources independent of the subject for notability of a subject. See WP:GNG and WP:NPROF. Jalen Folf (talk) 12:26, 14 November 2019 (UTC)

Qing Tian redirect page

hi JalenFolf, i see that you removed the csd tag that i put on Qing Tian redirect page. The problem about that redirect page is not about the order of Chinese names, but there is no articles in wikipedia that linked to Qing Tian (see: Pages that link to "Qing Tian" . so, i think the redirect page is redundant, and should be delete. thank you. --Stvbastian (talk) 12:52, 15 November 2019 (UTC)

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

NPP

Hi there. Have you ever thought about asking for the New Page Reviewers right? You seem to know your way away notability, and I haven't come across any of your edits regarding new articles which I have an issue with. NPP can always use folks who know what they're doing. I know it's a thankless task, but I see you often enough on my NPP patrols to know that having you review the articles would be a help.Onel5969 TT me 23:51, 25 November 2019 (UTC)

Hi Onel, and thank you for the kind words. It's something I've actually been considering for a while, and if I stick around on Wiki by 2020 (at least so I can go as long as I can avoiding hastily tagging or reverting to redirect), I will definitely look into applying.   Jalen Folf (talk) 23:56, 25 November 2019 (UTC)

A cup of coffee for you!

Thank you for your edits at Mizzle and Mizzles. I had originally used the "Wiktionary redirect" template, but then noticed XfD closer ComplexRational used the more concise "Soft redirect". In this case, I tend to favour the original template I used, which you restored for the added rationale you provided. Doug Mehus T·C 20:19, 28 November 2019 (UTC)
@Dmehus: The closure defaulted to using {{Soft redirect}} when I used the 'Soft redirect' option in XFDcloser (I thought this would be the easiest way to close, and I don't know of a built-in functionality specifically for Wiktionary redirects). FWIW, I'm completely fine using {{Wiktionary redirect}}. ComplexRational (talk) 20:57, 28 November 2019 (UTC)
ComplexRational, Oh, I didn't know if XFDCloser had a "soft redirect" closure option. I assumed whoever closed it would have to use the "custom" option and manually type '''soft redirect'''. That's cool that it did for you. For the record, I was fine with either option, but slightly prefer JalenFolf's correction. I do, however, like how you made Mizzles a redirect with the Rcat plural form to Mizzle instead of having separate redirects. --Doug Mehus T·C 21:33, 28 November 2019 (UTC)
Dmehus, interestingly enough, I only found that out when closing this discussion (though in all fairness, I never did another 'soft redirect' closure anywhere else). Also, it was actually Thryduulf who (in the RfD) suggested redirecting the plural form to the soft redirect. Glad to help out in any case. Cheers, ComplexRational (talk) 21:45, 28 November 2019 (UTC)
FWIW I suggested redirecting the plural to the singular because that will most likely be the more useful destination if there is ever an article at Mizzle. I don't think it likely there will be, but maybe one day it will be the name of a notable product or something. Thryduulf (talk) 23:33, 28 November 2019 (UTC)

Hi Jalen,

I see that you reverted the article I wrote about Noel Vose to a redirect page. It states that there is no reliable sources for the information. Most of the information comes directly from the author of Noel Vose's offical biography (though not directly from the biography) and from the current principal of Vose Seminary, the institution named after Noel Vose.

Can you please explain why these are not reliable sources and what would constitute a reliable source?

New to Wiki, here to help but you deleted my entry : (

I'd like a chance to re-write The Kaplan Thaler Group page. I helped to create the advertising agency in 1997, called The Kaplan Thaler Group. We started with 8 people and grew to hundreds... I want to immortalize the agency here, I will rewrite the copy so that it is just informational and not promotional - that was a mistake, I was just really putting some placeholder text there and I can replace it. But it is important that The Kaplan Thaler Group exists here on wiki... I helped to design the logo which has been deleted also, I was there when everything happened and can cite events, I worked there for 18+ years... help... I'm not understanding how the logo for a company violate the same company's copyright? I'd like to just start The Kaplan Thaler Group page and then learn how to grow the information here, without violations, I'm here to help and add a bit of advertising history to wiki... thank you for your service here! Thank you for the quick reply regarding the Futureplay page I wrote yesterday. Could you let me know which specific parts of it wouldn't be considered neutral? By knowing that, I can adjust more quickly what was written.

Thaiboy Digital Page Review

Hi JalenFolf,

You recently reverted an article I have been working on, "Thaiboy Digital", back to draftspace, and noted in the comments that the article was not yet ready for mainspace. I have improved sourcing throughout and added verifiable supplemental information in order to bring the page up to scratch, and I was wondering if you could share the specific issues you saw with the page that prevented it from being mainspace ready.

Thank you,

Lithexfree (talk) 10:03, 4 February 2020 (UTC)

@Lithexfree: The page appears to be fine, although my only concern is that you moved the page after submitting it through the Articles for creation process, but before anyone reviewed it. Moves like this disrupt the process us reviewers have to make to ensure the article is okay for mainspace. All I can tell you in this case is to be patient and wait for a reviewer to look at your work and make the move themselves. Jalen Folf (talk) 15:41, 4 February 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for the help on redirect!

Hi User:JalenFolf, I received your rejection of my article creation for a redirect. I appreciate you redirecting me to the right information on how to create one. It is admittedly odd to me that the "Page Settings" dialogue and Wiki Markup allows one to specify a redirect (#REDIRECT [[]]), yet this is not the correct method. Therefore, your message was very helpful.

I have at this time decided to abandon the redirect creation but am happy to have the information as I learn the ways of Wiki editing/creation (working on creating a couple new pages that I have preemptively linked in my recent Nevada State Route 160 edits, although I have more archival research to do first).

I apologise JalenFolf for the delay in replying to your message from almost a year ago. I had a lot of time away from my User Inbox from the middle of 2019 and am only able to get back to things now. I really appreciate your advice and the courtesy with which you reached out to flag the issue. Someone else raised the same issue around the same time and I did respond to that message. I think I must have assumed I was responding to you. In the first half of 2019 over 1000 students enrolled in our course - a victory in some respects but an overwhelming amount of administrative work was needed to keep things on track. With 42 sections and 16 teachers, many of them new recruits to WP some things did slip as the centre is only as strong as it's combined parts. On balance a lot of very good work was done and the majority of our students helped to contribute knowledge to the world without doing things that were just neglectful or wrong. Belatedly, I'd like to apologise for those who did let us and the WM community down and to thank you and other contributors and administrators who reached out to let us know. --Fransplace 22:09, 10 February 2020 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fransplace (talkcontribs)

Weihaiwei

Hey, noticed you reverted my edit. While I'll leave it be seeing as I can understand your point of view (and let's face it, not worth getting in a tizzy over), I made the disambiguation page because Weihaiwei does not clearly mean the city as the page for the British controlled territory was also named Weihaiwei. Basically, I think a disambiguation is in order but seeing as it doesn't really matter, guess I'll just let it be.

Sorry if this is a bit rambling or came off rude, I just wanted to explain my thinking and say my peace.

Hải Ninh

Please have a look at the same page in Vietnamese Wikipedia. https://vi.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/H%E1%BA%A3i_Ninh_(%C4%91%E1%BB%8Bnh_h%C6%B0%E1%BB%9Bng)

Hải Ninh is the name of multiple places in Vietnam, not just the location in Hải Ninh. Why was my move not valid?6characters (talk) 17:01, 26 February 2020 (UTC)

@6characters: Whatever occurs on Vietnamese Wiki is irrelevant to the English Wiki in this context. I have reverted your move for two reasons: The Quảng Bình location named Hải Ninh is the only location with an article on the English Wikipedia (as of writing this reply). The other locations are possible to write an article for per WP:GEOLAND, however, I would save the move until after the articles are created. Alternatively, the other Hải Ninh locales are not mentioned on the other district pages as claimed. Per MOS:DABMENTION, in order for a subject without a Wiki article to be included in a disambiguation page, it must also be mentioned in the article provided via bluelink. This was not done. At this point, I would say either write the articles for the other places named Hải Ninh, or write them into the district articles via a list, as is the case with the mention of Hàm Ninh, Kiên Giang in Phú Quốc. Jalen Folf (talk) 17:09, 26 February 2020 (UTC)

Jalen Folf I agree that those are rules, but there can be an exception to any rules. Don't you see that this project is incomplete. Whoever started this project just left it hanging like that. I have done this to multiple other locales, and all other reviewers are just fine with that and made an exception for what I did, because they are aware that this project is incomplete. There's a lot to be done to complete this project, and I'd be happy if you don't give me such a hard time as you are doing right now 6characters (talk) 17:17, 26 February 2020 (UTC)

Sorry for bothering you, but...

New Page Patrol needs experienced volunteers
  • New Page Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles. We could use a few extra hands on deck if you think you can help.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; Wikipedia needs experienced users to perform this task and there are precious few with the appropriate skills. Even a couple reviews a day can make a huge difference.
  • If you would like to join the project and help out, please see the granting conditions and review our instructions page. You can apply for the user-right HERE. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here)(click me!) 20:33, 1 March 2020 (UTC)

New page reviewer granted

Hi JalenFolf. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at WP:PERM in case your user right is time limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. Barkeep49 (talk) 21:24, 1 March 2020 (UTC)

Removing article from main space

Hi JalenFolf,

You have reverted my article Raed H. Charafeddine from the main space to Draft:Raed H. Charafeddine as not to disrupt the official AfC process. The reason why I posted it directly to the main space is that this is a second version, in which improved and changed the article responding to previous extensive comments on my original version. Furthermore, other wiki editors told me there was no issue for me to move an article to the main space from AfC. So I am rather confused here and would appreciate your feedback.

Have you seen any further issues with the article? If not, I would like to move the article back to the main space.

I would very much appreciate your help and time.

Thank you and kind regards, MarthaBergman (talk) 14:02, 3 March 2020 (UTC)

I have unreviewed a page you curated

Hi, I'm JohnThorne. I wanted to let you know that I saw the page you reviewed, NPIS, and have marked it as unpatrolled. If you have any questions, please ask them on my talk page. Thank you.

(Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

Speedy deletion declined: Voicians

Hello JalenFolf. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Voicians, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: releasing music on notable labels, collaborating with notable artists and having music featured in notable games are sufficient claims of significance. Thank you. SoWhy 11:14, 25 March 2020 (UTC)

New draft article you could help with (if you want)

I recently submitted an article for Brave, the debut album by Joyryde, as a draft. Feel free to contribute to the article in any helpful way. I'll be adding to the article throughout the next few days/weeks. If you are not able to, that's fine. Micro (Talk) 06:11, 3 April 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for helping me discover Wikipedia's community of editors

I know it has been several months since you left that introduction message on my talk page back in December (those cookies were yum! :D) but I never actually got to formally thank you for that. So thank you so much, it's been a blast getting to know the community and Wikipedia better as well. I thoroughly enjoyed this year's April Fool's Edit War, and I would have never learned about it if it wasn't for your userbox for last year's event. Hope to talk to you soon!
