Chess
editHi, I'd just like to let you know that the chess tournament has started. You will play User:Ugen64. Look at the rules, decide with your opponent what colour you will play, and then start playing! If you have any questions either ask me or try Wikipedia talk:Chess championship. Good luck! Gkhan 23:58, May 15, 2005 (UTC)
- You want to be white or black? I have no preference. – ugen64 02:54, 16 May 2005 (UTC)
- I'm crap so I'll take white! -- Jasabella 05:11, 16 May 2005 (UTC)
Requested pics
editThanks for the pics; they're Platycladus (related to Callitris, but not the same; imported from China). - MPF 10:38, 16 May 2005 (UTC)
Your chess game
editAt your chess game, you changed ugen64:s 1-0 to a ½-½. Are you two disagreeing on who actually wins? If this is the case, you should atleast play it through to a checkmate or draw. Let me know will you? Gkhan 08:58, May 18, 2005 (UTC)
Vote for Deletion
editHi; I'm sorry to be bothering you concerning this, but Wikipedia:Chess championship is up for a VfD. Wikipedia:Votes_for_deletion/Chess_championship Please vote to keep this thing alive... this is so lame that I need to ask people to help out here. Linuxbeak | Desk 03:48, May 19, 2005 (UTC)
Game 12: Colors
editOur game won't start for a while (Linuxbeak has to kick Project2501a's ass a little faster :-) but we can assign colors already. I'm alright with either; would you like to have White? JRM · Talk 11:31, 2005 May 30 (UTC)
- Hi JRM... I've recently moved house and can't get online until I get the telephone line hooked up. Would it be ok with you if we postponed our match until I can get back online? I'd hate to forfeit. Thanks! -- jasabella

Take your time. Heaven knows the other games in round 1 are taking theirs. :-) JRM · Talk 07:49, 2005 Jun 8 (UTC)
Game 12: it seems to be about time
editWell, the other games are finally underway, and you seem to be online at least somewhat, so let's get this show on the road. I'm pretty busy so the game will be relatively slow. First things first, though. How do we assign colors? :-) JRM · Talk 21:10, 2005 Jun 16 (UTC)
I need a picture!
editCan you get some of notable landmarks in Strathfield? There's one in Strathfield square for a memorial of the Strathfield Square Massacre. Also, could you get one of the council chambers? Maybe one of Strathfield Square? I'd do it myself, only I don't have a digital camera.
Speaking of Annandale, I'm about to attend a church there. Dunno why I'm telling you that... you must have made me think of it :-) Ta bu shi da yu 03:51, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Like me, photograph requests has moved! (Yes, I've fixed the link.) Unfortunately I can't get online at home right now. (Need to get the phone line hooked up.) -- Jasabella 15:35, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

WikiProject user scripts
editWould you like to join the Monobook scripting team? Note: this thread is now closed. We are going to start it off at User:ABCD/WikiProject User scripts. Alphax τεχ 23:44, 11 August 2005 (UTC) (first post was 01:32, 10 August 2005 (UTC))
- Just wanted to let you know I've changed my vote to keep. And sure, I'd be up for joining the Monobook scripting team. -- BMIComp (talk, HOWS MY DRIVING) 01:36, 10 August 2005 (UTC)
- Yay, now to start it :) I think I've already got func and Essjay in on it... Alphax τεχ 04:13, 10 August 2005 (UTC)

- You know, that's not a half bad idea! It's almost impossible to figure out how to make those changes if you aren't familiar with the system. I'd be happy to be part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Monobook. -- Essjay · Talk 04:53, August 10, 2005 (UTC)
- Sure :) Alphax τεχ 10:34, 10 August 2005 (UTC)
- Ok, a few more people invited (put {{User talk:Alphax/20050810-01}} on someone's talk page to do so) - see what links here for who they are. Alphax τεχ 10:47, 10 August 2005 (UTC)
Errh... what is this all about? Lupo 10:53, August 10, 2005 (UTC)
- This is a thread. If you want to stay synchronised, don't substitute it. Some of us are considering forming a wikiproject (or something) to coordinate on scripts for the Monobook skin. Ironically, almost of all of it will be implemented in JS, not CSS. I thought you might be a knowledgable person when it comes to this stuff. Alphax τεχ 13:58, 10 August 2005 (UTC)
- Guys, just posting a link to here on people's talk pages is good enough to attract interested parties. Transcluding this screws up section editing on all affected talk pages. And I don't think I'll get the new message alert anyway if this is transcluded. Lupo 14:07, August 10, 2005 (UTC)
- Help us decide a name then! Alphax τεχ 15:07, 10 August 2005 (UTC)
- As to coordinating scripts for the Monobook skin: what's the objective? A library of plug-in JavaScript snippets? A manual for the CSS used? Lupo 14:07, August 10, 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, a library of plugins. Alphax τεχ 15:07, 10 August 2005 (UTC)

- I can try to help with css more than js btw as I'm much better than that (but still not that good). If anyone needs a person to double check stuff I also have a bit o' time on me hands =) This project looks cool though. Sasquatch↔讲↔看 19:42, August 10, 2005 (UTC)
What is the link to the monobook project? - Ta bu shi da yu 00:12, 11 August 2005 (UTC)
- There isn't one yet, we need a name and to decide where it should be located (on WP:, meta:, commons:)... Alphax τεχ 04:04, 11 August 2005 (UTC)
- I think it should be in the Wikipedia namespace. Good idea, btw. - Ta bu shi da yu 04:18, 11 August 2005 (UTC)
- Though I know very little about JS and how it works and most of the stuff on my monobook.js is just copied and pasted I'd be willing to join since I've been meaning to learn javascript and it would be a good way to put real use to it. I also think it should be on the WP: namespace btw. Jtkiefer T | @ | C ----- 15:53, August 11, 2005 (UTC)

- And get repeatedly blocked, labelled a troll, and so forth. No, quite frankly I reached the end of my patience months ago. It's sad to see this place go to the dogs... well, never mind. You probably haven't taken a good look at this place recently – and you'd do well to leave it that way. Your main interaction with us has been through IRC, and obviously that is going to end, now. You used the IRC channel mostly for casual socializing and discussion of the project like the rest of us, things which apparently can't happen any more. Shame, really. I'm sure you have better places to hang out, anyway – Gurch 19:24, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Invitation
editThere is a backstage pass coming up to be followed by an editathon in the State Library of New South Wales on 23 November. This is the first time that an Australian cultural institution has opened its doors to us in this way and will be a special opportunity because the Library is providing: one of its best rooms; its expert curators (along with their expertise and their white gloves); a newly launched website (containing new resources); and of course, items from its collection (including rare and usually unavailable material) which we can look at, learn from, and use, to improve WP articles. For example, on the chosen topic (Australia and WWI), the Library holds many diaries and manuscripts from the period.
As you can see from the Library's project page, they have connected this editathon with their own work. They have already set out a wide range of resources to make things easier for us. Please sign up on the editathon project page if you can participate either online or in person with other Wikipedians. Hope to see you there! Lankiveil (speak to me) 12:24, 3 November 2013 (UTC)
