Unspecified source for Image:Ron Kovic and S. Brian Willson.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Ron Kovic and S. Brian Willson.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Lhademmor 15:16, 26 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Possibly unfree Image:Ron_Kovic_and_S._Brian_Willson.jpg

edit

An image that you uploaded or altered, Image:Ron_Kovic_and_S._Brian_Willson.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images because its copyright status is disputed. If the image's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the image description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 23:11, 11 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Atwfc.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Atwfc.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:32, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:Sbrianwillson.jpg

edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Sbrianwillson.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 22:12, 23 February 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 22:12, 23 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Kamala Lopez-Dawson

edit

A tag has been placed on Kamala Lopez-Dawson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. ~ JohnnyMrNinja 22:19, 23 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of Kamala Lopez-Dawson

edit

I have nominated Kamala Lopez-Dawson, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kamala Lopez-Dawson. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. ~ JohnnyMrNinja 23:05, 23 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unreferenced BLPs

edit

Hello Jeanmariesimpson! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 6 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Brian Willson - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! I edit Wikipedia too, under the username Seaphoto. I noticed that you recently removed the contents of an article, so I restored it to make sure Wikipedia readers get a chance to see it. If you thought the page should be deleted, here are instructions for requesting that. If you need any help, please feel free to ask me on my talk page. Wikipedia is written by people like you and me, and we care a lot about the quality of the encyclopedia. Please help us make it better! Thanks, SeaphotoTalk 03:31, 14 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hello Jeanmariesimpson. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to you, your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.   — Jeff G. ツ (talk) 03:32, 14 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

suggestion

edit

Please don't get upset at the suggestion of deleting the article about you. It was an inappropriate nomination, and the article quickly kept. I know it bothers people when they get called non-notable at discussion. But this is an open wiki, and we can't prevent people from saying silly things. When there's something really outrageous said in a discussion we can remove it, but I regret that by our primitive standards, this wasn't outrageous enough.

By the way, you might be interested in this mailing list: [1] , which discusses this sort of thing, among other problems. DGG ( talk ) 03:18, 17 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the kind note. Actually, I contacted the administrator who nominated for deletion the article about me. He did so after I pointed out that I don't think I'm notable, etc.. I don't mind at all the discussion and feel motivated to create pages about many other activists much more important and accomplished than I. I hope to do that in the new year. All the best to you, and happy holidays!Jeanmariesimpson (talk) 03:47, 19 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

A note about verifiability

edit

WP:Verifiability is the guiding rule for including material in articles. If you wish to challenge a statement, you'll need to provide other reliable sources that trump the challenged source. Your claims of being related to the subject are not reliable (see WP:Original research). Further, what verifiable source attests your alleged relationship with the subject? —C.Fred (talk) 01:56, 6 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Well, golly. Both our Wikipedia pages, for one thing! Jeanmariesimpson (talk) 01:58, 6 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
What do you mean, your Wikipedia page? —C.Fred (talk) 01:59, 6 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
There is a page about me on Wikipedia. Jeanmariesimpson (talk) 02:00, 6 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
That said, you're only reliable for statements about yourself. Your self-published statement about another subject's birthday is not reliable. —C.Fred (talk) 02:02, 6 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Okay, then. But the date is incorrect and Wikipedia suffers. Jeanmariesimpson (talk) 02:28, 6 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Kevin S Giles

edit

I moved the article to Draft:Kevin S Giles where you can work on it more. It is not in the same format as all other Wikipedia articles are. Also, you cannot use Amazon or Gile's blog or publisher's blog for references. After you work on it, please move it back. Bgwhite (talk) 04:42, 29 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

  • Thank you. It's been awhile, and I realized I had completely forgotten how to create/edit a page. I will work on it today.

Request reason:

Caught by a colocation web host block but this host or IP is not a web host. My IP address is 45.89.173.253. I found that IP address using Wikipedia's search tool. I don't understand the reason it is different from the one I found on my computer's "About this Mac" info. What does that MEAN??? Jeanmariesimpson (talk) 17:47, 25 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

Confirmed VPN. This belongs to Pia VPN. Please disable your VPN and wait a full 24 hours for the block to clear. Yamla (talk) 17:50, 25 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Oh, MAN! I forgot about the stupid VPN! I tried and tried right after we installed it, and I couldn't figure out how to get rid of it. HOW do I disable it??? I would really appreciate your help.--Jeanmariesimpson (talk) 17:54, 25 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry, I don't use that VPN so I can't help you. :( --Yamla (talk) 17:59, 25 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
I think I finally figured it out. We'll see. I'll come back again tomorrow. Thank you. Jeanmariesimpson (talk) 18:04, 25 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

PLEASE REMOVE BLOCK #4

edit

YIKES!!! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to erase Block #3, I only meant to copy and paste. I've been blocked for so long that I'm completely out of practice. SO SORRY!

I removed the VPN from my computer two days ago. I don't understand what is keeping the block from being removed. Jeanmariesimpson (talk) 17:53, 28 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

I have verified you are still connecting via Pia VPN. --Yamla (talk) 11:24, 29 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
But I'm NOT! The only connection I have is my Century Link WiFi modem. Can you show me what you're seeing? Jeanmariesimpson (talk) 17:14, 30 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
I am not able to show you directly, but I have the ability to view which IP address you are using. You are, unquestioningly, still using an IP address that Spur.us notes belongs to Pia VPN. You can verify this yourself by finding your IP address using WhatIsMyIPAddress, then going to spur.us/context/<your ip address here>. For example, if your IP address is 1.2.3.4 (it isn't, that's just an example), you would go to spur.us/context/1.2.3.4. --Yamla (talk) 17:43, 30 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Holy SMOKES! That is some kind of rogue VPN. It's supposedly in Las Vegas, but it's actually in Africa. It doesn't show up anywhere on my computer. YIKES! Thank you for letting me know. Now, I have to figure out how to get it off my computer. This is much bigger than being blocked from editing on Wikipedia. Over and out! !Jeanmariesimpson (talk) 16:09, 31 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Good luck! What an annoying problem to have to deal with! --Yamla (talk) 16:12, 31 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Please check again. I erased my entire hard drive and installed just the Century Link wifi. Thanks. Jeanmariesimpson (talk) 05:41, 1 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yesterday morning, you were still on the VPN. By the time you posted this message, though, you were no longer on the VPN!!! I'm really hopeful this clears things up for you. This has been such a pain for you to deal with! I know nothing about Pia VPN, but if they are a company that charges a monthly fee and if you are no longer using them, make sure to cancel that (somehow!!!). :) --Yamla (talk) 10:28, 1 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
