Small note on user warnings
Hi, Schrodinger's jellyfish! I've noticed how you have started reverting vandalism/disruptive edits on Wikipedia; you're doing a great job! I've also noticed how you've been warning users about their edits, and how you usually do not increase the level of the warning given. However, it's usually a little more helpful to increase the levels of user warnings (e.g., using an orange user warning after a blue one) after a user has been warned for an edit they made earlier. Could you do that more in the future, please?
Returning to the subject of reverting vandalism, you might want to install Twinkle and/or Redwarn, since those programs make dealing with disruptive editing much easier. I use both, and I've found that Redwarn tends to be better for reverting nonconstructive edits, while Twinkle is usually better for requesting page protection and for reporting users who continue to make problematic edits despite being given a final warning (please note that this is just coming from my personal experiences with both tools and isn't based on any sort of policy; please use them in whichever way that would be best for you). I hope that helps! That Tired Tarantula (talk) 05:56, 25 December 2023 (UTC)

- From Wikipedia:Anyone can edit Wikipedia (short version):
- "anyone can edit, in the same way that anyone can pass a driving test - but there are rules and regulations and ways of doing things which you will just have to learn the hard way"
- Your edit here came up as potential vandalism, and as such, I reverted it. Your next edit here lacked a reliable source, which you can read more about here at WP:RS. Here, you inserted a raw external link into the body of an article (which isn't something you should do, visual editor should have some help for you when it comes to citations and referencing).
- It's also probably best that you stop making personal attacks towards other editors. Hope this is helpful, as you never got a proper welcome message to Wikipedia. I also recommend reading up on the WP:MOS or its simplified cousin. Schrödinger's jellyfish ✉ 04:09, 16 January 2024 (UTC)

Hello there! I noticed that you reverted an edit recently that mass replaced Ashoka with Utkarsh on an article. You then placed an NPOV warning on the users talk page. Hello, Schrödinger's jellyfish,
An IP editor removed a Proposed deletion tag and you reverted them saying that content was removed. I'm not sure that you even looked at this edit. Any editor can remove a PROD tag and it is not considered vandalism or content removal. What is worse is that your revert replaced the PROD tag! Once a PROD tag is removed for any reason, it can't be PROD'd again. So, another editor had to re-remove the PROD tag that you reinstated.
Please investigate edits before choosing to revert them and don't assume that a large edit by an IP editor is out-of-line. We have many IP editors that have been contributing to the project for much longer than you have and it is inaccurate to make assumptions without looking into an edit itself. If you have any questions, please bring them to the Teahouse. Thank you and Happy New Year's Day! Liz Read! Talk! 18:33, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
- I'm very sorry! I was a bit out of my depth reverting that. I had the wrong idea about PROD tag (I think I mixed them up with AfD tags) and until I've got a better grasp on how those work, I'll stick to reverting obvious vandalism. Thank you for the correction, I don't believe I've done that anywhere else. Happy belated New Year! Phönedinger's jellyfish (talk) 13:40, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

Some jellyfish for you
Hello Schrödinger's jellyfish, SilverLocust has given you this jellyfish bloom, for your good taste in custom signatures! (Disclosure: SilverLocust has a slight conflict of interest.[Joke]) Tip: In your signature, try replacing the space in the second instance of Schrödinger's jellyfish with for a non-breaking space to avoid it breaking at the ends of lines.
Have this illustration from Kunstformen der Natur (1904)! You see, these things promote WikiLove and hopefully this has made your day better. Spread the WikiLove by giving someone else this jellyfish bloom! Enjoy! | |

Rollback granted
Hi Schrödinger's jellyfish. After reviewing your request, I have enabled rollback on your account. Please keep the following things in mind while using rollback:
- Being granted rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle or Ultraviolet. It just adds a [Rollback] button next to a page's latest live revision - that's all. It does not grant you any additional "status" on Wikipedia, nor does it change how Wikipedia policies apply to you.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear and unambiguous cases of vandalism only. Never use rollback to revert good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war, and it should never be used in a content-related dispute to restore the page to your preferred revision. If rollback is abused or used for this purpose or any other inappropriate purpose, the rights will be revoked.
- Use common sense. If you're not sure about something, ask!
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! 0xDeadbeef→∞ (talk to me) 14:44, 2 February 2024 (UTC)
Pending changes reviewer granted
Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.
Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

Edits to Robert Plant
Hi Schrödinger's jellyfish, thanks for reverting those unsourced edits to Robert Plant. I had made a few reverts myself, but hopefully that anonymous editor has got the point. I have one question - is there a quick and simple way of adding the message that you put on the editor's talk page? Regards, Kiwipete (talk) 02:24, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
- Hi! I use RedWarn (which also provides quick rollback buttons though I prefer the "write your own reason" for more constructive or new editors) & Twinkle (which has welcome templates), or if you prefer something manual, there's a complete list at WP:UTM#Multi-level templates! Hope this helps :) Schrödinger's jellyfish ✉ 02:29, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
Please read recent history before reversals
I did add an edit reason which I believe was self-contained enough. I have re-explained this in my new edit. However, a quick view to the page history would have revealed my initial reasoning as well as a fellow editor's own arguments. While I guess I could have started a discussion on the talk page, this change was small enough as to not warrant further discussion since rather than edit warring it was merely reaching some middle ground. 181.115.61.33 (talk) 03:33, 16 February 2024 (UTC)
- Hello - I recommend you discuss with the editor who reverted you before on the article's talk page regarding the race of those who stopped the shooter in the lead section. The history of the article showed me that you were reverted prior, by a different editor, to my reversion making the same edit. If two editors disagree with you over a change to the lead, take it to the talk page. Schrödinger's jellyfish ✉ 04:08, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

Hello, Schrödinger's jellyfish,
When you tag a page for CSD G5 speedy deletion, the first thing I do is look at the page creator to see if they are a block-evading sockpuppet. And I look for SPI cases they might be involved in to see if they have been reported. In this case, neither one of those facts was true. I can't delete articles based on your suspicions.
If you think an editor is a sockpuppet, please file a case at SPI so that this can be confirmed by a checkuser. And don't tag pages for deletion unless the article creator is a CONFIRMED block-evading sockpuppet. You are a relatively new editor and articles will generally not be deleted for CSD G5 based on your opinion unless the admin who reviews these pages is familiar with this sock farm. So, please, follow-through and start filing cases at SPI. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 05:09, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
- My apologies - there is an open SPI at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Jeremiah Caquias. As far as I know, though, the page would qualify for deletion as a hoax. I will refrain from re-tagging it at the moment, though. Schrödinger's jellyfish ✉ 05:12, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
- (ec) It looks like a case has been filed at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Jeremiah Caquias. But regardless, I stand behind the points I was making. Please wait until an editor has been confirmed as a sockpuppet before tagging pages they have created for speedy deletion. And feel free to go ahead and participate in SPI cases if that is where your interest lies. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 05:14, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
- Found the part of the archive. The draft tagged was a recreation of an article by this confirmed sock, User:Spa67i. In the future, is it just best to tag pages such as that for G3 rather than G5? Schrödinger's jellyfish ✉ 05:15, 19 February 2024 (UTC)

- Don't you find it strange that an IP edits your userspace? Not to mention is so heavily interested/involved in SPI? --Bbb23 (talk) 00:39, 22 February 2024 (UTC)
- The first part, not really since I linked it at another talk page since we were making a massive wall of discussion. It's mostly to keep track of one LTA who registers a ton of accounts all at once, sleeps on them for a bit, then does his thing. He's not disruptive enough to warrant an LTA page since the main space edits are so few and far between, but it helps in identifying those & playing whack-a-mole without spamming SPI.
- The SPI part, though, I'll have to defer to your judgement on. I'm hopeful it's not block evasion. It hasn't looked like really complicayed ones or any personal vendetta filings (Jeremiah Caquias (sp.?) & Bulut are pretty blatant- others, not familiar with) at a glance. - Will do - is there a way to do it without it creating redirects from their actual user page/user talk to the sandbox, or will I just have to clean those up? Schrödinger's jellyfish ✉ 07:48, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
Thankyou for helping fix kefir image
I tried to add kefir to east european cuisine but i messed it up. thanks for fixing. Philipbrochard (talk) 00:44, 17 March 2024 (UTC)
- Happy to help! Thank you for adding it in the first place. I had trouble with images at first, and so just played around on my user page & sandbox with them until I got the hang of it. Phönedinger's jellyfish II (talk) 17:45, 17 March 2024 (UTC)

Tagging pages for speedy deletion
Hello, Schrödinger's jellyfish,
If you believe a User page should be moved to a Sandbox or Draft space, than do that rather than tagging the page for deletion. I have only created my personal page to expose people to this new concept I try to create (and not for my own benefit), if you think I made a mistake just let me know before asking for a speedy deletion: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Syndicated_Development Liviuolos (talk)
- Hi, Liviuolos - your user page, as it stands, meets the criteria for U5 of the speedy deletion criteria. Your user page (at the time of nomination) is not the place to write a pseudo-article about yourself - I recommend reading what your user page should not look like. Your contributions thus far appear to be promotional in nature. Schrödinger's jellyfish ✉ 03:19, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
- Is this better now? Thanks! Liviuolos (talk) 03:40, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, yes, that looks a lot better! Please excuse my delayed response. Regarding the draft you're writing - it's worth noting that this looks like original research, which we don't allow here. For a topic to get an article, it first has to be notable enough, and receive significant coverage in independent secondary sources that are reliable. An article and any claims in it must be supported by accurate inline citations to those aforementioned sources.
- Before you dive headfirst into creating an article, though, I'd give some of the recommended newcomer tasks like copy editing a try. Remember you can always ask for help either on your talk page with
{{help me}}
or at the Teahouse. Happy editing! I also recommend checking out any available tutorials. Though I'm unsure how to link to it, I've seen plenty of people doing the Wikipedia Adventure. Phönedinger's jellyfish II (talk) 18:23, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
- By the way, I don't have any book yet, but I am developing that concept which with my own bias I think is worth spreading :)... But I want to develop it in Wiki, exactly because it has to be a common thinking, not my own biased opinion... Liviuolos (talk) 03:44, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
Misplaced talk page comment from Aptearnav (original)
hi jellyfish i have given reliable sources please let me know what went wrong and give me guidance — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aptearnav (talk • contribs)
- Hi again, Aptearnav! From what you've added to the Apte page, it looks like you're trying to make it a proper page on the surname. If you want to create an article like Smith (surname), I highly recommend going through the tutorial posted at the top of your talk page and creating a draft article there. I've brought Apte up to speed with an article like Gosling (surname). Schrödinger's jellyfish ✉ 05:56, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- Also, in the future, you can use the "new section" button at the top right side of the page to leave a new message on someone's talk page. Schrödinger's jellyfish ✉ 05:57, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- hi Aptearnav (talk) 06:14, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- i would like to know as to why my edit where ive added more notable people was deleted because the page you mentioned about gosling has more that 10 notable people Aptearnav (talk) 06:15, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, you're welcome to re-add those people, but you seriously need to cut down on your descriptions of them.
- Compare your additions to the article:
- Vaman Shivram Apte (1858 – 9 August 1892[1]) was an Indian lexicographer and a professor of Sanskrit at Pune's Fergusson College.
- Vinay Apte (17 June 1951 – 7 December 2013) was an Indian film and television actor.
- Shanta Apte (1916–1964) was an Indian actress-singer who worked in Marathi and Hindi cinema.[1]
- Prakash Apte Prakash G Apte was a professor at Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM Bangalore).[1] He is also a former Director of the institute.[2]
- Urmila Balawant Apte Urmila Balavant Apte is the Indian Founder of the BhartiyaStree Shakti organisation in 1988 which is dedicated to the empowerment of women.
- To the Gosling article, or current Apte disambiguation page, where there's only a simple biographical description (excerpt from the current revision):
- Devdas Apte (born 1934), Indian politician
- Hari Narayan Apte (1864–1919), Marathi writer
- Madhav Apte (1932–2019), Indian cricketer
- Narayan Apte (1911–1949), convicted for assassination of M K Gandhi
- Narayan Hari Apte (1889–1971), Marathi author and script-writer
- I hope this helps. Schrödinger's jellyfish ✉ 06:24, 23 April 2024 (UTC)

- No need to apologize! It's better to be bold, do something wrong, learn from it, and improve than to never try to improve anything. I'd check out the Teahouse, a place where more experienced editors can answer any questions you may have. Schrödinger's jellyfish ✉ 06:29, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- i was wondering if i can make a new page named "Apte clan" where i can write about its origin , genealogy and history and notable historable people in the 17th and 18th century who were in the maratha empire or if i can added this information in the current page with more sources? Aptearnav (talk) 08:16, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hi! Unfortunately, I can't really provide more specific advice on creating a new page as I haven't had the chance to create one. Help:Your first article is a great place to start, as is asking questions over at the Teahouse, or Wikiproject India. The hosts there are wonderful & knowledgeable. I'm concerned. A personal attack, a lot of additions of unsourced material, claiming that "However, the majority of the scholars (jumhur) are of the opinion that Walima is ..." sourced to[ this. I'm not sure if that's even an RS, must check. Doug Weller talk 07:13, 9 April 2024 (UTC)
- I'm mixed on that being a RS - authors are named, but a lot of the things I try to look for in a RS are pretty unclear. While he does respond at his talk page, responses seem to come a bit after they're sent. Hoping the next reply from him (especially with PA's happening) is understanding like the reply to the contentious topics notice was. Schrödinger's jellyfish ✉ 07:41, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
- Unfortunate, but deserved block. I hope what they're saying in their unblock requests turn out to be true and they knock off the socking and general NOTHERE behavior. 13 is ridiculous. Jellyfish (mobile) (talk) 22:41, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
Your revert
Not to be a dick or anything, since we all make a bad revert every once in a while, but you may want to pay closer attention in the future: it was explained, and the content being removed was completely unrelated to the rest of the stuff in the article. jp×g🗯️ 03:00, 27 April 2024 (UTC)
- You're not being a dick! That was absolutely my mistake. I must have misread, sorry! Jellyfish (mobile) (talk) 17:57, 27 April 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah, after some further review (a bit late) - categorically misunderstood what an algorithm is. Self-trout Jellyfish (mobile) (talk) 20:46, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
Please
Don't revert: report. If you revert, they just revert you and they get a kick out of that. Drmies (talk) 01:23, 13 May 2024 (UTC)

- Sure, or notify any active admin. If you know your way around IRC, report it there. It's a sad little person who hates gay people, hates trans people, hates Black people, hates women--it's very American. They use IPs in Kentucky/Ohio, often from libraries and other public places, cause they have no friends. In general, rollback is very enticing but for these kinds of serial losers it's also just a masturbatory trigger. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 01:29, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
- I'll have to figure IRC out sometime this week. I've been limited to Discord since it's a little more noob friendly. jellyfish ✉ 01:54, 13 May 2024 (UTC)

help me write article
hi there jellyfish, you nominated my article (Sid Sadique) for speedy deletion the other day.
was wondering if you could help me rewrite it as I do believe it would be a beneficial article to include on Wikipedia.
I'm confused as to what I'm doing wrong as I wrote in a neutral stance, I even took inspiration from other featured articles.
as you can see from my edit history I have edited articles in the past
any advice would be much appreciated, thanks 2433n (talk) 10:25, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, User:2433n, unfortunately, I haven't had the time to create any new articles myself. I can only offer about as much help as Help:Your first article can. Also, please pardon my WP:XYZ links to some policies, in a bit of a rush on my phone.
- First and foremost, make sure the subject meets the general notability guidelines/WP:GNG, and has received significant coverage/WP:SIGCOV in independent, reliable, and secondary sources/WP:RS. Your article in particular (Sid Sadique) if I remember was entirely unreferenced, failed to indicate notability/WP:N, and had a generally promotional feel to it when reading/WP:PROMO. Also, if my memory serves me right, the article was just kind of a raw dump of numbered bullet points & text that you said just needed some cleanup. Honestly, if an article needs cleanup to that degree (entirely reformatting it), you should first create it as a draft/WP:DRAFT or at least create a version of the article in your sandbox/User:2433n/sandbox. You can click the red link to create it (apologies if you're already aware of how red links and policy work, but those policies are usually always the reason I'll nominate for speedy deletion).
- I hope this helps! Have a wonderful weekend. Jellyfish (mobile) (talk) 15:26, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Jellyfish (mobile) many thanks for your advice you have been very helpful! I will rewrite and submit for review before publishing next time :) 2433n (talk) 21:31, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of List of Former Unidentified decedent
A tag has been placed on List of Former Unidentified decedent requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer, or other unlikely search term.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. voorts (talk/contributions) 19:18, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hey, thank you for nominating! Completely blanked on doing so earlier. Jellyfish (mobile) (talk) 19:52, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
