Hi, User:Jennakor! The youth empowerment edits are a good idea. Right now, the page could use integration so it talks about youth empowerment without reverting to being a list by country. And, as you note, there is nothing about the global south. What does the scholarly literature have on this topic?

By the way, I have made the same edit you did and had it taken off. Apparently, this is a controversial claim. It will be interesting how it fares with your edit. I didn't go back and argue the point, but I think the social constructedness of youth is worthy of WP inclusion.Prof.Vandegrift (talk) 04:25, 14 September 2015 (UTC)

Going off of what Dr. V said above me, have you found any scholarly articles that refer to youth empowerment in the global south? I found that the Youth leaders page is not fully developed. That could be an interesting topic in itself if you were interested in that. I do think it would be interesting to combine Youth empowerment and Youth leaders, too! Your proposal

Hi, Jennakor - As we have talked about in class, you have some good ideas for your proposal. I know you have found sources comparing government and non-profit NGOs. What else have you found? What key discussions have you found in articles, books, and policy research papers? How will you plan to organize the article? What do you like and dislike about the lead paragraph; for example, what will an all-encompassing definition look like? I would appreciate knowing more on where you are planning to go. Are there critiques of the idea of youth empowerment (for example, the notion that this idea is too much individualization of risk)?

You have some excellent sources which will provide you great examples. To do next: Ensure that these sources, or another one you locate, will enable you to edit the article as written in your proposal, "comprehensive article about youth empowerment. I think that it would be more beneficial to work an all encompassing definition of youth empowerment as a lead paragraph and look at how that varies in the global north vs. south and from policy to non-profit organizations."
