Talk pages
editHi, I'm glad you appreciated the article on Chapters and verses of the Bible, and I'll look out for more references as you suggested.
One general comment: your new section came out near the top of the page. When starting a new discussion on Talk pages (either articles' Talk pages or users'), please click the "+" tab at the top of the page, which starts a new section at the foot of the page. This makes it easier for others to find the latest contribution on the page. - Fayenatic london (talk) 14:26, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Tropical research/tropical cyclone article
editMy research has been confined to TC rainfall and subtropical genesis over the years. The last tropical cyclone meeting I went to was the IHC in 2006. Now that the intro on my part has been made, keep in mind that wikipedia is meant to be written in encyclopedaic style using the consensus viewpoint, and is supposed to leave out "weasel words" which we so often use in the science to express uncertainty. They're taking the IPCC statement as the consensus from the tropical cyclone article, which isn't particularly incorrect. Thegreatdr 21:33, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
Tallest by US State
editNo problem; I actually figured you were going to anyway after I read your talk page note, but I just had to change it for those 5 mins that someone might have been misinformed. Hey, you never know if someone had to do a report on that subject and they got bad info cause of something I didn't change...LOL.
So, any help I can be, lemme know, and don't knock the Eagles...at least they went to the playoffs this year, unlike the other Florida teams :-D EaglesFanInTampa (formerly Jimbo) 14:37, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
US County/State Maps
editHey. I use GIMP, the open-source bitmap editor to trace county and city boundaries out to create the maps. www.census.gov gives the PDF files that are used for tracing counties, Libre Map project for the State svg maps. The nice thing about GIMP is the layer attribute that allows you to paste the PDF image into GIMP, trace on a top layer, and then remove the PDF image, leaving the trace behind. editI apologize. You do not need a source and as soon as I reverted I realized my mistake. I was not following the whole thing the way it was written though. The new wording is much easier to follow. Chris1834 (talk) 14:42, 21 June 2014 (UTC)

It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. March 2016
editWelcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at Comma Johanneum, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Elizium23 (talk) 23:30, 4 March 2016 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for April 20
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of tallest buildings by U.S. state, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Washington. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

editPlease dont put references in headers like you did in this edit. References does not belong in headers. Qed237 (talk) 10:49, 22 May 2016 (UTC)
- Oh dear, I'm sorry indeed. Should've checked the preview more closely. Seemed weird leaving the last updated date on above the table for a completed event (as it continues to be on previous seasons), but without it, had no place for the reference. Your version is much better than mine. Thanks for fixing it and telling me\sorry again! JeopardyTempest (talk) 11:03, 22 May 2016 (UTC)
- No worries, I understand how it could happen and I agree that the "updated"-template above the table is not needed when event is completed. Just wanted to let you know for the future. Have a nice day. Qed237 (talk) 11:29, 22 May 2016 (UTC)
Re: Hurricane Revert?
editThe source in question is the NWS Glossary which is saying that Rapid Deepening is 42 mb over a 24 hour period, rather than the 24mb that you are using based on it being 1 mb per hour per the definition for Rapid Intensification. As a result I personally feel that the 1.75 mb per hour value is more correct than the 1 mb value. If you wish to expand the section out - feel free to do so, but dont make it too technical. :) Jason Rees (talk) 11:46, 22 May 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for the apology, its appreciated. Anyway regarding Rapid Deepening vs Rapid Intensification - I suspect its like the Scone vs Scone debate we have here within the United Kingdom, but im happy enough to just use rapid intensification. However, we have to be careful as the NHC definition of rapid intensification uses winds rather than pressure. Im happy to copy-edit or look over any sections you feel maybe too technical.Jason Rees (talk) 16:32, 22 May 2016 (UTC)

Using an inflation template
editAs one of the apparently few people who appreciates including inflation adjusted figures, I was glad to see the work you had done in the NBA salary cap article on the inflation adjusted numbers chart. In case you didn't know, Wikipedia provides inflation calculation templates that do that automatically without forcing you to laborously input the numbers yourself. Did you try using the templates in the table and they didn't work? I would suggest trying it sometime as it is bound to be a better way of doing it. Of course, there's now way of keeping somebody from coming along and deleting the table. <sigh> __209.179.36.56 (talk) 01:43, 15 August 2016 (UTC)

I am concerned on the knowledge of where you base your information off of. If wikipedia is going to "pose" as an encyclopedia/fictionary, it should cite it's quotes. Otherwise ur walking a thin line. Especially on controversial issues! Brea nail511 (talk) 05:38, 26 September 2016 (UTC)
@Brea nail511:, I'm sorry, I'm not sure what you are referencing. Can you please help me to understand what controversial issue I've edited upon and where it is missing quotes? Thank you, Shane JeopardyTempest (talk) 18:07, 26 September 2016 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Howard Middle School (Orlando, Florida)
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Howard Middle School (Orlando, Florida) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.ocps.net/lc/southwest/mho/schoolinfo/Pages/History.aspx. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Re: April 2–3, 1982 Outbreak.....
editSorry, it took so long to respond to your message about this article. I had placed the Tornado Chart in the article some days before, and was just following up on it to match the storm count that was already on the infobox made long before my first edit of the article. Sorry about the confusion.--Halls4521 (talk) 19:50, 29 July 2018 (UTC)
