Proposed deletion of Joan Maloof

The article Joan Maloof has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article. The nominator also raised the following concern:

As reviewing administrator, I did not delete the article, but it needs some improvement.

A Wikipedia article needs to show notability with references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases. In the case of an author with published books, this is usually done with references to substantial reviews (not mere listings) of the person's books--and please, not reviews from Amazon, or book jacket quotes, but from newspapers or magazines or professional journals.

It also needs to be written like an encyclopedia article, not a press release--don't praise the organization or person, say what they do.Most important, remember not to copy from a web site, even your own -- first it's a copyright violation, but, even if you own the copyright and are willing to give us permission according to WP:DCM, the tone will not be encyclopedic and the material will not be suitable. I have the distinct impression that the article was copied from a publisher's blurb or personal website, and, if so, it will surely be deleted. But if you have the reviews, then replace it by a proper article written from scratch.

As a general rule, a suitable page will be best written by someone without Conflict of Interest; it's not impossible to do it properly with a conflict of interest or as a paid press agent, but it's relatively more difficult: you are automatically thinking in terms of what the subject wishes to communicate to the public, but an uninvolved person will think in terms of what the public might wish to know.
