Hi Jim

  Hi Jim
The editing which I done to pages related to barcode was not for promotion. I did so as I liked the website of barcode solutions and I thought that if I will give the contact in wikipedia it will be easier for the persons who want to buy bhings related to barcode.

So,please allow me to do so as there will be easier for barcode buyers to know and buy. Agarwal.mayank (talk) 10:24, 5 January 2013 (UTC)

Deaths 2013

Please stop with the page edits and conform to the policy. A Red Linked person has 30 days to have an article written from the day of death. The only need for notoriety is that it is covered in multiple avenues (newspapers, trade magazines, etc.) or goes across a wire service. I have noticed several attempts by you today to revert edits. Please stop as research goes into this before they are posted. If you feel someone has put someone up in error, take it to the Deaths 2013 talk page. It can be reviewed by the community before it is decided upon. If you continue, further action may be required, so please stay within policy. Thank you and look forward to seeing you post some people of your own. Sunnydoo (talk) 11:54, 5 January 2013 (UTC)

Here's our hidden editor's notes when the Edit button is clicked (not that many read this):

(1) Please list only those meeting Wikipedia notability guidelines. Please include a reference to a reliable source. If a Wikipedia article for the deceased does not yet exist, please reconsider whether the subject is actually notable. If so, please consider writing an article yourself. Those without a Wikipedia article are removed after one month.
(2) Please understand that the intent of this article is to report notable deaths. Tragic deaths, while unfortunate, do not necessarily render the deceased "notable". If you report the death of a subject that does not already have a Wikipedia article, please consider starting one, provided that the deceased is notable. Please include third-party sources other than the obituary.
(3) Please list entries in alphabetical order by family name. Please avoid overlinking. As such, please do not add links to nationalities, common occupations, or common causes of death. Rather, please include only "links that aid navigation and understanding". Thank you.

Most times, we give additions a chance. — WylieCoyote 12:05, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for the advice. Is this written up somewhere? A link would be appreciated. Thanks Jim1138 (talk) 12:12, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
That's why I said not many may read it. Click "Edit" at the top of Deaths in 2013 and scroll down in the editing section. Look for the <!- -> part. — WylieCoyote 12:20, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
That's not necessarily Wikipedia policy. Where is it written on one of the "Wikipedia:" policy pages? Thanks Jim1138 (talk) 19:14, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
Before I get all the questions about the "Deaths in XXXX", please understand that I've only been a Wikipedian for 14 months. The policies at the article were there before me and adopted/created by others before me. I think the reason "Deaths" is given some leeway is because it is more global and more viewed than most other Wiki-articles. People just go there first to view who's died/add someone. By "global", I mean it crosses language lines. Some of the redlinks are from non-English Wikis whose contributors think should be in ours. Case in point: January 5's "Joselo" entry. I mentioned on the talk page there that he does have a Spanish wiki, created long before he died, and is probably more notable in Venezuela for that page than for our version. This is why "Deaths" is more flexible than standard Wiki articles and/or list pages. Last year was the first year they adopted the proper citation format, which came down to a very close approval vote. It now causes massive load times after the middle of the month, but it is more standard. If you wish to take this and other issues up with the "Deaths" article, may I suggest you bring it up there, as I don't have experienced answers to give. I only abide by the 37-day redlink policy as I usually create the individual monthly article when the time comes to remove it from the yearly article. Sorry that I can't be anymore help, but hopefully I've steered you correctly. Thanks. — WylieCoyote 00:35, 6 January 2013 (UTC)

Checker's Speech slush fund

Why did you remove the correct reference to Nixon's "Fund" as a slush fund? Why is describing the fund as a slush fund requisite of a source? That's like sourcing why an orange is called an orange? Are you biased in favor of washing Nixon's legacy? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.38.183.9 (talk) 08:53, 7 January 2013 (UTC) By the way Wikipedia's OWN DEFINITION of SLUSH FUND CITES Nixon's Checker's Speech! You should not have removed the reference to slush fund as wikipedia itself refers to slush fund and the Checker's Speech. Will you undo your bad edit?108.38.183.9 (talk) 09:02, 7 January 2013 (UTC) The reference to slush fund is of particular importance when dealing with a man who was later so intimately involved with such absolute scandal involving slush funds during Watergate for obstruction of justice and perjury.108.38.183.9 (talk) 09:17, 7 January 2013 (UTC) Apparently you are more concerned with purging Nixon's past of taint than with honesty. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.38.183.9 (talk) 09:21, 7 January 2013 (UTC)

about the edits

so you think writing 'extremely insensitive & irresponsible' was inappropriate? this is a so called "godman" we are talking about - who is making such statements about a gang rape victim being responsible for the heinous crime towards her since she did not call them "brothers" and plead?! this is a guy who has a following of millions ... just imagine how many people can he influence by such a callous remark.

what do you think? and yes, i have given the sources too ... am not talking without sharing references

Vitreous enamel

Hi. You added "vitreous china" as a See Also on the "vitreous enamel" page. This is mistaken as there is no connection, and consequently the edit has been reverted. To explain: vitreous enamel is a glass coating on metal whilst vitrous china is a ceramic material. The only similarity is the word "enamel", but it is used for different reasons: vitreous in vitreous enamel refers to the material being glass (which is amorphous & so by definition not ceramic) whilst in vitreous china it refers to the material being non-porous of material (which is crystalline.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.8.231.241 (talk) 09:38, 7 January 2013 (UTC)

I edited it because the site yaksha.info no longer exists. It was replaced with http://mahashivarathri.org/ and yaksha doesn't have a blog. All the official blog posts related to yaksha.info is posted when it is time in blog.ishafoundation.org only.

Hi, Jim1138,

I am a Taiwanese Wikipedian who mainly edits at Chinese Wikipedia since 2008. Thank You for kindly helping protect my user/talk page. I am a rollbacker and often confront with at least one long-term abuser among others. With lots of new IPs and accounts, this suspected person (very likely from China) vandalizes various articles these three months again and again. I was already targeted many times. Thanks and Have a Wonderful 2013!

Disruptive editing

Hello Jim1138! I'm sorry for the disruptive editing of the strongman article. I made an unfortunate mistake and accidentally overwrote Park Chung-hee while adding the section about Adolf Hitler. In addition, it seems, I misunderstood the note and citation-system. All these brackets and tags are very confusing to me and I lost concentration trying to add what seemed like a simple and correct section. It's indeed quite a puzzle trying to contribute! Thanks for your notice!

List of LGBT characters in television

The reason why I removed Dean Winchester from the list is because he is not bisexual. After 8 seasons, they would've given us at least a hint of bisexuality coming from the character. I do not believe it is correct to insinuate something like that, and misinform people, even if it is said unconfirmed, only because the bromance between him and an other character is so highly exaggerated by a big part of the fandom. That is all. I really recommend you to remove him from the list again, as it would be the most rational thing to do. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.202.38.246 (talk) 06:14, 13 January 2013 (UTC)

Ivan Fisher

I need some help; Ivan fisher has been suspended by NY courts, well described, but xyz1234567890 keeps reverting it out. What is best way to stop him? I have left messages on Fisher and his talk pages.Mwinog2777 (talk) 06:45, 15 January 2013 (UTC)

How about a Wikipedia:Third opinion? Or, Wikipedia:Request for comment? The NY Times does seem to be quite clear that he was suspended, but Xyz appears to disagree. Do you have a court document stating that Fisher is suspended? Otherwise this might fall under WP:BLPCRIME, with the emphasis on might. I would suggest starting a conversation in talk:Ivan Fisher, perhaps removing the warning. That is usually a prerequisite to filing a complaint on Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring. 3RR does bite back, be careful. I am rather busy and won't take the time to look into it now. Good luck, and thanks for minding the fort! Jim1138 (talk) 07:02, 15 January 2013 (UTC)

shoelace nipples

Dear jim1138,

First of all, im a big George Lucas fan. That said, shoelace nipple has been a common nickname for the aglet for as far as I can remember. I would have made the change sooner, but I am new to the internet. During the great depression, when my mother made aglets out of "paper and glue" (as your wikipedia article shows) and she convinced my siblings and me to take care of them by calling them "shoelace nipples" which, at the time (1933) was easier to pronounce than aglet for my younger brother, Woodrow (1929-1987). The name "shoelace nipple" caught on in our camp of Okies and we, in many ways, survived the depression by beginning to manufacture them as a cooperative in the San Joaquin Valley. This term is common in the oral traditions of the Central Valley of California.

Best,

Off-Off Campus edits

Jim1138, I made the edits to the Off-Off campus article because the original article contained some factual errors. The Compass Players started at Fred Wranovic's Compass Tavern down 55th Street from Jimmy's (Woodlawn Tap) and both establishments were near but not actually on the Uni. of Chicago campus despite many student's (and faculty's) hazy memories. As a frequenter of both establishments in the 1950s and 1960s, I have fond but not entirely hazy memories. Jimski20 (talk) 22:13, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

Cynthia Ann Parker

Hey! About the edit I made to Cynthia Ann Parker's page. In the intro paragraph, it says she was kidnapped at age nine. But, she was born on October 29, 1827, and disappeared on May 19, 1836. The math adds up to her being kidnapped at age eight, not nine, if the kidnapping was after Oct 29, then she would've been nine. And even in the info box, that's what it says. Truly, it's no big deal at all, that's just what was going through my mind when I made the edit. Keep it the way it is, or change it, whatever you like. I just wanted to help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.173.69.245 (talk) 01:39, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

The problem appears to be that her birth date is anywhere from 1824 - 1827. I added refs for those dates and gave her age at kidnapping as 9 or 10. Still does not clarify everything. I would suggest checking sources to verify things before changing them. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 02:03, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

No big deal but...

...if you're going to remove comments accidentally left on my userpage, please move them to my talk page. Thanks! — Francophonie&Androphilie(Je vous invite à me parler) 02:17, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

(Just saw that you asked him to move it. Still, he seems, to be honest, a bit clueless [that whole comment is based on confusing me with another editor], so it might be a good idea to just do it for him. Or for me, because I'm lazy. ). — Francophonie&Androphilie(Je vous invite à me parler) 02:19, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

What does it means? I said that Laiko is a Greek music genre. It could be literally song or just a folk song. The reason that is called laiko is that it is existed in Greek language. --176.116.153.22 (talk) 05:33, 21 January 2013 (UTC)

Just to be clear I nor The1337gamer are sockpuppets of any kind. I honestly can't believe I'm having to defend myself against this foolery.AmongTheliving66 (talk) 08:04, 22 January 2013 (UTC)

You forget to mention I helped catch one of TheMetallican socks. Not all of them are inaccurate also I have a pretty strong evadince to put forward a sockpuppet investigation on you.--75.65.123.86 (talk) 08:30, 22 January 2013 (UTC)

Sounds like fun. Please do. Jim1138 (talk) 08:32, 22 January 2013 (UTC)

Bharat and Baratmata

117.205.0.78 (talk) 19:59, 22 January 2013 (UTC) Dear Jim1138. what the corrections I made were correct. Ask any Hindi language professor of this world. I know my nation, I do not need any citation for the basic ground reality to prove, reality doesnot need facts to prove. and please do not use militant word wherever my nations name is being used, how would you like if I or any of the people around the world start using this militant word with your or your nation's or their children's name. Intentions should be brotherhood among the world and not to use abusive language. I have deleted the word militant in the description regarding Bharat Mata and other corrections also. All my decisions were correct and appropriate. with regards, A Bhartian Citizen.

It may be correct, but it was unsourced. Wikipedia must be verifiable. Please cite your significant changes with reliable sources. Thank you Jim1138 (talk) 20:01, 22 January 2013 (UTC)

You should be trouted, but...

...I don't ordinarily do that sort of thing. Your series of escalating warning at User talk:Colinrhar are totally inappropriate, as he was not editing when you starting reverting his edits. It's fine to leave a single warning (perhaps with a note that you have reverted edits on multiple articles), but beating an editor over the head with warnings when he has not been online to read the first notice is overkill. I am going to revert all of the warnings after your first one, because it's rather extreme newbie-biting. (He's been here for a while, but outside of a pair of edits over three years ago, he hasn't been active for even a week yet). If the disruptive editing pattern continues, escalation is appropriate, but let him read the warning first. Additionally, you need to throttle back on your usage of huggle; you should have caught that the last four edits to his talk page were all warnings left by you, through Huggle. They were sequential edits by you, so it's not hard to notice a pattern if you're not flying through. Horologium (talk) 20:37, 22 January 2013 (UTC)

Unfortunately, huggle does not seem to follow those rules very well. It does some of the time and I do undo it when I notice, but it is hard to keep track of it. I did report the problem (again) to Wikipedia:Huggle/Feedback. There was no comment about it the last time I reported it. Thanks for catching the problem. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 00:09, 23 January 2013 (UTC)

Thanks

Thank you for clearing the vandalism from my user page. It is very much appreciated. 72Dino (talk) 00:26, 23 January 2013 (UTC)

Seccession

I realize you may have speed editing, rather than actually checking what you were changing, but could you explain to me what is wrong with correcting an obviously wrong year, by removing an unsourced year and replacing it with another unsourced year? I thought there was something about assuming good faith? Obviously I don't back as you didn't.

How many valuble user edits have been reverted by this shoot first, check never activism that plaques wiki....

Please take the time to fact check before unilaterally clocking up edits through indiscriminate reverts. 76.26.217.48 (talk) 04:08, 23 January 2013 (UTC)

Sorry, but I am not going to thoroughly research your edits, and I doubt others will either. If you would leave an wp:edit summary, you might prevent the revert as well as me (and others) having to (re-)research your changes. I did check a November 2012 version in which the date was 1919, suggesting that your edit was not a revert on someone else's vandalism. If you don't want to leave an edit summary, I suspect others will undo your changes too. If you are not going to supply sources, nor explanation, why not flag it as "needs work" and let other's do the work? Sorry about that, but that is the way Wikipedia seems to work. And, I'm sure lots of good edits are removed that way; though far more bad edits. BTW: please read the instructions at the top of my page or on wp:user talk pages on how to leave a note on other's talk pages. It is customary to leave it on the bottom of the page and not in the middle of the page. It makes finding new edits difficult. Jim1138 (talk) 04:24, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
And I did leave a very brief edit summary, rtfm. This error would be EXTREMELY obvious to anyone who knows anything about the subject, or indeed anyone born in Ireland. Given how obvious it was I felt rtfm was more than enough information. I did not anticipate someone editing on a subject matter they know nothing about, and requiring that any unsourced information removed be replaced with sourced information. 76.26.217.48 (talk) 04:35, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
I am not the first person (by far) to say this to you, please do not make edits on subject matters you know nothing about. I would like to add, don't make edits purely based on edit summaries either, or if you are unwilling to check things. What others may or may not do is immaterial. If you go around all day using tools or bots to do this you are to all intents and purposes vandalizing Wikipedia by throughing away lots of good edits. AGF implies you do not lose some good edits for the purpose of losing bad ones. It is straight up vandalism, and edit clocking. It is not how many edits you make that counts. 76.26.217.48 (talk) 04:47, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
You put an edit summary on Secession an article on international affairs, leave a cryptic summary and expect it to be reviewed only by Irish? No. You need to understand that your edits will be reviewed by lay people and judged by your ability to supply reliable sources and summaries. Most of the comments above are by people who are simply too lazy to do so. This is an international Wikipedia, not the Irish Wikipedia. Jim1138 (talk) 04:55, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
no, I expected no one to revert my change without understanding anything about the content of it. Your scatter fire use of hg makes it clear, combined with numerous complaints, that you regularly revert based on edit summaries rather than knowledge of the content in question. And as I said the bad date I changed was unsourced. The period aka full stop in this paragraph is also unsourced but Im pretty sure it is round. You should not change the year stated unless you know, or have good reason to believe it to be different. whether you are Irish, Maori or Martian, it shouldn't matter. . 76.26.217.48 (talk) 05:03, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
if you felt the date required a citation (dubious) you could have used the template to request one. Though I'm sure as HG doesn't have that it was too inconvenient and would slow you down, as you have already stated you were unwilling to check. Slow down" and stop reverting everyone's hard work, the collateral damage is not acceptable under AGF 76.26.217.48 (talk) 05:15, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
The burden of evidence is on you. You changed a long standing date. If you don't make it clear what your change is for, expect a revert. Don't be lazy. Jim1138 (talk) 05:12, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
actually no it's not. That AGF thing again. 76.26.217.48 (talk) 05:15, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
Lazy, I'm not the one reverting many peoples valid edits based on my not being willing to take the time to either check, or AGF. 76.26.217.48 (talk) 05:19, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
AGF? That inconsequential warning on your talk page was not AFG? No threats, no consequences. Now you are really blowing things out of proportion. I nor other knowledgeable editors are going to {{cn}} or {{dubious}} every questionable edit. Don't plaster {{Cn}}'s all over my page. That is vandalism. 05:32, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
The eronious revert, especially combined with your own admission that it was based on a edit summary and that you were unwilling to check whether or not you were correct, you basically made a revert on which you had no basis to know whether or not you were right. That is the AGF problem. It has also made me aware of a user with a very long term pattern of similar reverts with no basis in fact, and extremely tenuous grounds for suspicion, certainly not enough to overcome AGF. in effect, it appears to me' that whether intention or nor (and IMHO unintentional, just a lack of awareness of AGF) constitutes an ongoing, high volume systemic newbie biting, data loss, and basically, vandalism. AGF is designed to prevent amongst other things collateral damage by you treating edits as suspicious unless proven to (your) satisfaction otherwise. Your use of the phrase burden of proof proves it... Please start using AGF in your edits, and take th time to check and understand the content, or stick in subject matters you are strong in. There are far too many edits affected by this behavior, and to be honest I am going to have to get some admin help if it persists. AGF. 76.26.217.48 (talk) 05:41, 23 January 2013 (UTC)

Be my guest, and good luck. Jim1138 (talk) 05:47, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
