Amar (2017 film) moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Amar (2017 film), does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Speedy deletion nomination of Lebanese Transparency Association

edit

Hello Jimmypapas,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Lebanese Transparency Association for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

Speedy deletion nomination of WinZip Computing

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on WinZip Computing requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Proposed deletion of WinZip Computing

edit

The article WinZip Computing has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Lacks reliable, independent secondary sources necessary to establish notability. Sources offered are either primary or routine financial coverage. Their WinZip product is definitely notable; this limited bit of information about the company could certainly go there.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Mirrors

edit

Thanks for contributing to the article Joud el Bayeh. However, one of Wikipedia's core policies is that material must be verifiable and attributed to reliable sources. You have recently used citations which copied, or mirrored, material from Wikipedia. This leads to a circular reference and is not acceptable. Most mirrors are clearly labeled as such, but some are in violation of our license and do not provide the correct attribution. Please help by adding alternate sources to the article you edited! If you need any help or clarification, you can look at Help:Contents/Editing Wikipedia or ask at Wikipedia:New contributors' help page, or just ask me. Thank you. Kuru (talk) 03:37, 7 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Again, it is disruptive to add references that you know to be false. You re-added the reference to the mirror that was clearly pointed out to you above. Do not do so again. Kuru (talk) 13:59, 7 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Jimmy, IMHO moving it to draft space won’t give this article a chance since younrecreated an article that was deleted by AFC consensus simply by changing preacher to pastor in the title. ThurstonMitchell (talk) 13:16, 18 February 2021 (UTC)

We have had two debates that decided he's not notable: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/David Lynn (preacher) in January and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/David Lynn (pastor) in 2015. You must stop recreating this, as it is disruptive. If you want to create this article, you need to find better evidence for notability and go to WP:DRV. He has recreated the article AGAIN. And again I put it up for speedy. He either doesn’t understand or doesn’t care. I want the topic protected from recreation under all possible titles and I am asking the powers that be that Jimmy be banned from future editing because of disruptive editing based not only on this subject but also other topics that have been discussed on his talk page. Hi, thank you for your feedback. I'm just new here and the reasoon I recreated this subject "david lynn" over and over again, and other subjects too, is because I though maybe I should make another trial, since my first trial(s) was not successful. Speedy deletion of Bank of Beirut and the Arab Countries

The page Bank of Beirut and the Arab Countries has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appeared to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appeared to be a direct copy from https://www.beirut.com/l/3486. Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Jimmypapas/Federal Bank of Lebanon. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Federal Bank of Lebanon. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Federal Bank of Lebanon. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. WWGB (talk) 09:48, 26 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Final warning

edit

I was very clear before about David Lynn: "You must stop recreating this, as it is disruptive. If you want to create this article, you need to find better evidence for notability and go to WP:DRV". If you create another article or draft about him, I will block you.

Your persistence with that article and your other editing gives a suspicion of a conflict of interest. See WP:COI and WP:PAID. If you have been paid to edit or create an article, you must declare it. If you have a connection to the subject, you should declare it and avoid directly editing those articles.

So - do you have any COIs you need to declare? Fences&Windows 21:49, 26 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi, thank you for your message. I hope you can help. You said: "you need to find better evidence for notability", and that's what I did, i tried to recreate it with better sources... I don't understand what I did wrong. I even submitted it as draft in order to avoid disruption. Let me know where I went wrong. Yes I am persistent, that's my character, it has nothing to do with being paid. I am always persistent when I see an article has a chance to get accepted, especially when I believe it should be on Wikipedia. I have never been paid and never had any connection with any subject. Wikipedia is a very difficult place, I think you should bear with me. I have put a tremendous amount of work to create and become an editor, I have contributed a lot of positive stuff. Jimmypapas (talk) 06:25, 27 February 2021 (UTC)Jimmy, 27feb2021.Reply
OK, so long as you're familiar with the COI policy I'm happy with your reply. Bear in mind that appearing too keen to have certain people or organisations written about, particularly when they are of marginal notability, may make you fall under suspicion.
You either ignored or did not understand "and go to WP:DRV". You need to go to deletion review to argue for restoration of an article on David Lynn, presenting evidence that the issues that led to deletion twice in Articles for Deletion debates can be overcome.
If you're too persistent, that's a failure or refusal to "get the point", which is a form of disruptive editing. Don't plough ahead regardless: you need to listen to all the feedback you've received about your editing. Wikipedia editing can be tricky to get right, but you'll succeed when you get used to adapting your ways and reaching and following consensus. Fences&Windows 14:42, 27 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Cedrus Bank

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Cedrus Bank, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". I restructured article so that it doesn't violate any copywriting, removed data that doesn't have sources, or that relies heavily on one source only. I have removed the "speedy deletion" tag as well as the "additional citations needed" tag. Let me know if that works.Jimmypapas (talk) 09:19, 9 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing certain namespaces ((Article) and Draft) for copyright violations.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Moneytrees🏝️Talk/CCI guide 16:12, 8 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

You've received five warnings above for copyright violations. Today I revision deleted Amin Salam, where you added "He is an international consultant in economics and social development, management, strategic leadership, public affairs, and communications" which was copied from the cited source. Looking at recent edits of yours, I found this one to The Daily Star (Lebanon); In that edit you add:

"Eventhough it was owned by the former PM Saad Hariri, the publication struggling financially for years. The family also owned the Future TV and the Arabic-language newspaper Al-Mustaqbal, which both also closed in 2019."

The BBC source says:

"It had been struggling financially for years, despite its purchase a decade ago by the family of former Prime Minister Saad Hariri. The family also owned the Future TV channel and the Arabic-language newspaper Al-Mustaqbal, which both closed down in 2019.

I removed this content from the article. You cannot take content from sources like this, it is a copyright violation. If you want want to be unblocked, you will have to demonstrate a better understanding of copyright and commit to not copying from sources. It's terrible how Wikipedia treats people, after all the efforts and time and energy I spend to improved so much articles and create new ones, just a few mistakes that I made here and there gets me block INDEFINITELY. I don't know what to say. I'd like to as for an appeal for sure. I will not lose everything I did here.Jimmyp3 (talk) 17:32, 8 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry, but I don't have much of a choice. Copyright violations are difficult and time consuming to clean up; editors who repeatedly paste in content will be blocked, whether they mean to violate the rules or not. Moneytrees🏝️Talk/CCI guide 18:02, 8 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Ok I understand that it's time consuming. Yeah it wasn't meant for sure, but I understand it's a mistake anyway. Is there a way to unblock me?

Request reason:

I believe that since I joined the Wikipedia community, I have given a great amount of contribution, improvements and countless article creations, however, sometimes we do make mistakes, which in my case is violating copyright norms, by copying a material from another source, and which is definitely very time consuming to the community people to fix the mistakes. I believe that blocking me is not necessary anymore because I understand the reason why I was blocked, and I will do my best not to repeat it in the future. Jimmyp3 (talk) 05:23, 10 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

As copyright violations potentially put Wikipedia in legal jeopardy, we must be sure that you understand what copyright is, when and how copyrighted content can be used on Wikipedia, and how Wikipedia content is licensed. Please see WP:COPYVIO for more information. 331dot (talk) 10:16, 10 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Is there at least an expiry date for the block?
No, it is indefinite, it will be in place until it is lifted. As 331dot says, you'll have to be clear in your understanding of copyright if you want to be unblocked. Moneytrees🏝️Talk/CCI guide 17:02, 13 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hello, Moneytrees🏝️ thank you for giving me the hints, please check below my new appeal:

Jimmyp3 (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I did some research to find out where I was wrong, and below is my updated understanding: According to the "Wikipedia:Copyright violations" article, copying material from a "copyright holder" is a copyright violation, even the text was changed, because there may be obvious grammar/style similarities (AKA close paraphrasing), which can even lead to "plagiarism". Plagarism is taking credit for someone else's work, which, correct me if I'm wrong, isn't my main problem here, because I did introduce citations, but I think it's more of a "copyright violations". Here are 2 examples of copyright violations that I did (which you have already pointed out): - In the article Amin Salam that I created, I have added the sentence "international consultant in economics and social development, management, strategic leadership, public affairs, and communications" which was directly copy-pasted from "https://www.the961.com/amin-salam-lebanons-new-minister-of-economy/ copied from the cited source", which is a copyright violation. - In the article The Daily Star, I have copied the sentence "The family also owned the Future TV channel and the Arabic-language newspaper Al-Mustaqbal, which both closed down in 2019." directly from the following source: "https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-59134361", which is another copyright violation. Also, According to "Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources", copying text from other sources directly into Wikipedia is a copyright violation, I should instead write it in my "own words", which we've already established. Please let me know!Jimmyp3 (talk) 06:58, 14 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

Thanks for the more detailed appeal, but with respect you've been an editor for too long to have only just discovered copyright as an issue. In addition the long list of deleted articles flagged on this page and in your "deleted contributions" log make clear there are significant issues with notability and reliable sourcing. Again, given the age of your account these can no longer be considered beginner mistakes. Am of the view the block remains necessary to prevent further disruption via poorly sourced or copyvio material. Although it's only an essay, please consider the content of WP:SO as a route to return to editing over time. -- Euryalus (talk) 00:43, 3 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Hello, It's been 2 years after the block, and I would like to check if you can remove the block so I can edit again. I understand that my mistake is that I can't copy directly any content from other sources and I'll be careful next time to rephrase content in my way before posting it. I understand that it was a beginner mistake but I wasn't aware of it, and now I am.

Decline reason:

Procedural decline; this request has been open for 3 months and no admin has found the request convincing. You may make another request, but I would suggest reading WP:GAB to craft a good request. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆𝄐𝄇 05:06, 2 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
