Google books

edit

Please read WP:EL. We don't link to Google books. It is a site which requires registration and login to access. IPSOS (talk) 20:41, 3 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I am pretty sure it has been decided not to link to Google books. It's not necessary, just make a proper bibliographic entry. Also, it is considered bad form to add references when you are not actually adding any content from the reference. Take it up on the help desk or something. I think you are doing something wrong, and it is your responsibility to follow up on it. IPSOS (talk) 21:04, 3 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
You will also want to note that Wikipedia prohibits directly linking to sites which sell the books, even affiliate sites. When you link to copyighted books on Google books, non-logged in users get a set of book sales links. Wikipedia provides a single way to link to modern books, by ISBN number only. Clicking on the ISBN number takes you to a page where you can select many destinations based on that ISBN, such as Amazon, Google books, etc., so as to prevent the promotion of a single site and to give the reader access to all options not just one. It may be permissable to link out-of-copyright books with no ISBN to Google, but you should ask at the help desk, village pump or another related talk page. IPSOS (talk) 21:14, 3 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well, we don't really forgo it, since you can easily get there from the ISBN. For example, click on this ISBN 9004129022. Then search in the page for "Google books" and click on the "Find this book" link. Also, as I said, it may be ok to link to out of print books in the public domain, as Google doesn't make you log in to view those. I don't know for sure, though... AfD nomination of Electronic Shelf Label

edit

I have nominated Electronic Shelf Label, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Electronic Shelf Label. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? rootology (T) 03:28, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

James N. Gardner listed at RfD

edit

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect James N. Gardner. Since you had some involvement with the James N. Gardner redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion (if you have not already done so). Six (talk) 11:58, 24 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Georg Andreas Böckler

edit

Hi there. Would you be able to answer the question I have asked at Talk:Georg Andreas Böckler#Birth and death years? If I don't hear anything in a few days, will try and ask at the Dutch Wikipedia. Carcharoth (talk) 10:51, 2 July 2012 (UTC) Update: I checked here, but as the last edits there were in 2011 as well, I'll not post there and just leave it at this note.Reply

Mo Chua of Balla

edit

I have removed a statement that you made in the article Mo Chua of Balla because it was unreferenced. Please find a reference for about the teleportation of meat by St Mo Chua, and then you could put the sentence back again. Kind regards--File Éireann 07:58, 15 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Proposed deletion of Fire Vox

edit

The article Fire Vox has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not meet WP:GNG and WP:NSOFT.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
