License tagging for Image:Copy of Inquirer Front Page 3 .JPG

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Copy of Inquirer Front Page 3 .JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Images

edit

Hi! I noticed that you added a few links to images on the Eddie Panlilio article but it doesn't show up on the article. If you have time, please do read this page to find out how you can add images on Wikipedia (btw, you need not place them all at the bottom, you can place them at any point on the article where appropriate).

Please also take time to read this page regarding the copyright/IP statuses of your images. I have no objections about you freely uploading your own images, but as far as the images stand today, they'll need more details about how and where you got those pictures (e.g. did you took this picture? using your own camera? on your own personal time and not as part of your work?). This will avoid having your images being tagged and eventually deleted.

Thanks and more power to your WP edits...you seem to be a promising editor. --- Tito Pao 06:19, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

One more thing: consider sending an email to the OTRS people and let them know that you are, indeed, releasing the photos into the public domain (see WP:COPYREQ for details) and would like to request for an OTRS ticket. Once they receive your notice, they'll add this ticket number on the image's info page. If you need more help, please leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! --- Tito Pao 06:29, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi Tito Pao,

I don't know how to get in touch with you, so I just edited your message. I'm sorry. Thanks for your effort in creating Among Ed's page in Wiki. You're not a Kapampagan yet Among Ed caught your interest. I am one of the crusaders who supported Among Ed. Please give me time to study the guidelines here. I'm a slow learner when it comes to PC thing.

I was fighting Marcos when you were born. So you may call me Tito. Rarely do I find I very talented person as you. God bless!

Joselito Basilio

N.B. Would you explain to me in layman parlance how to put an image into the article. Better yet, would you be so kind to put the pics I uploaded to any point in the article..Thanks...

Pao,

Sorry, I don't know what a stub is. U may delete all my inputs if you want. Don't say "hayyy". I deserve a certain measure of courtesy, ok!

Lito

No problemo ;-) There's so much to learn about Wikipedia that I myself haven't read through all the possible Help pages that I think I should read. In case I'm not around, please feel free to visit the Tambayan Philippines (the regional notice board for Philippine-related articles). You'll be surprised at the number of Filipino editors who have been editing the Wikipedia (some of us has had a meet-up a few weeks ago). Most of the active editors on the TAmbayan are more experienced than me and have contributed to far more articles. In case I'm not around, please feel free to leave a message at the Tambayan talk page, so that the others can help you in my stead. Thanks! --- Tito Pao 02:41, 7 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Effects of Foreign Divorce on Filipino Spouse

edit

A "{{prod}}" template has been added to the article Effects of Foreign Divorce on Filipino Spouse, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but yours may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.   Please do not post copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Effects of Foreign Divorce on Filipino Spouse. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites (http://jlp-law.com/blog/effects-of-foreign-divorce-on-filipino-spouse/ in this case) or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Effects of Foreign Divorce on Filipino Spouse with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article Talk page. Alternatively, you may create a note on your web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at Talk:Effects of Foreign Divorce on Filipino Spouse with a link to the details.

Otherwise, you are encouraged to rewrite this article in your own words to avoid any copyright infringement. After you do so, you should place a {{hangon}} tag on the article page and leave a note at Talk:Effects of Foreign Divorce on Filipino Spouse saying you have done so. An administrator will review the new content before taking action.

It is also important that all Wikipedia articles have an encyclopedic tone and follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

I can hardly understand why I cannot post my own article in this page..."Effects of Foreign Divorce" is my own article which I created and research. I'm the author of that article which I contributed to www.jlp-law.com/blog. Can I not contribute the same article to this page?

Joselito Basilio 04:45, 8 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, there is a good reason behind this: the no original research poilcy. Since your contributions are related to divorce, you may want to try looking up for an article about, say "Divorce in the Philippines" and then contribute to that article (or, better yet, create one such article), or (even better) add your contributions to the main article about divorce (i.e. on the section about divorce in other countries. Thanks --- Tito Pao 05:49, 8 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
I think I've found the right place for you: it's on Law and divorce around the world. Please feel free to lend your legal expertise on that section. Thanks =) --- Tito Pao 07:48, 8 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, exactly...

edit

...that's what I have in mind. You can actually put the song on its own article =) Just that, the original Eddie Panlilio should focus only on his own biography and accomplishments (the way it looked before, the song took too much space in proportion to the entire article). What you can do is create a new article, then place a wiki-link to the new article from the Fr. Ed article. Thanks --- Tito Pao 22:28, 11 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Addenda One more thing, however. Bear in mind that what may be notable or memorable for Pampangos may not necessarily be notable for the rest of the country (at the very least). Although I understand where you're coming from, keep in mind that since Fr. Eddie's campaign song is essentially restricted to a Pampanga audience, other editors may and will raise concerns about its notability and its being encyclopedic. I'd suggest that you take time to read the notability policy and the Music Wikiproject guidelines to help you build up your case. Thanks --- Tito Pao 00:53, 12 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unspecified source for Image:Among_Ed.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Among_Ed.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 11:05, 18 June 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. bluemask (talk) 11:05, 18 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Bribery2.gif

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Bribery2.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Bribery1.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 04:27, 16 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Bribery2.gif)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Bribery2.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:38, 20 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Recall: First in Pampanga History

edit

Hi, please check my edit, this is first and I got most from your blog. I am not an election lawyer, and this is new. However, as I read your blog, to muster the legal 98,000 signatures, I ponder that it is not correct to say P 1 billion is needed, as others say. Remember Panlilio won by 1,ooo plus votes. So, if and if, Lapid and Pineda would join force plus Mayor Pelayo, et al, the cost would be cheaper. It is as buying by the dozen.

I read the blog of Joselito Basilio, and I added this, in view of the historical FIRST, and to enrich our Philippine election jurisprudence. Please share your wisdom on this, since this is first in our history. Basilio's blog had this, but I supported this with links to make it encyclopedic: "In the case of Pampanga, the required petitioners must be at least 98,703 which represent 10% of the total number of registered voters in Pampanga as of 20 April 2007, the Philippine general election, 2007. This is based on the records of COMELEC (www.comelec.gov.ph), as required by Section 74, RA 7160, and COMELEC Resolution 7505 , in relation to ARTICLE X, Sec. 3 and Section 74 of R.A. 7160, LOCAL GOVERNMENT CODE[1], as amended by Section 1, RA 9244.[2] Panlilio is the first Pampanga governor which was subject of the recall campaign.newsinfo.inquirer.net, Recall petition vs Among Ed startedgmanews.tv/story, Recall move vs Pampanga gov launched--Florentino floro (talk) 08:02, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed blackout in protest of RA 10175

edit

Dear Joselito Basilio,

Greetings!

As a Filipino Wikipedian, I hope you are aware of the passage of Republic Act No. 10175, also known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, which was signed into law by President Benigno Aquino III on September 12, 2012. Currently, there is a discussion on the Tambayan, the noticeboard for Philippines-related topics, about a proposed blackout of the English Wikipedia in the Philippines in order to protest the passage of RA 10175, similar to the blackout against SOPA and PIPA held earlier this year. I feel that your input on the subject will definitely help in the discussion.

Please feel free to participate in the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Tambayan Philippines#The Cybercrime Prevention Act, and I hope your input will help the Filipino Wikipedia community determine which is the best course of action against this law. Similarly, we hope to get as much input from as many Wikipedians as possible.

Thank you and maraming salamat po!

Kind regards,

2019 US Banknote Contest

edit
  US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here
