Thanks for creating a draft!

Welcome to Wikipedia Josh Haines!

I understand that the following might look like a lot of reading required to "simply" add someone to Wikipedia, but this is done for two reasons (1) to protect the integrity of Wikipedia; but also (2) save you a lot of time you might spend on creating something that might be speedily deleted. so please review...

As mentioned over at the HELPDESK, the nature of your sandbox article on Dodge Woodall and your username (also see username policy) gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, and you have not yet complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements -- probably because you were not aware of it. You need to understand that paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Since the article does not already exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly or through your sandbox. Also before requesting a page be created, please read and understand Wikipedia's official policy regarding Biographies of Living Persons.

Regardless of how you contribute, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Josh Haines. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Josh Haines|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. If you have any other questions or need assistance, feel free to reply here or over at the helpdesk. "I need to publish this ASAP"

edit

No you don't. There is no deadline for a Wikipedia article. What legitimate reason would you have for making such a statement? It looks suspicious to the rest of us. Orange Mike | Talk 08:36, 27 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, Orange Mike, I appreciate you pointing this out. When I said I needed to publish quickly, I didn’t mean to rush the process or skip any steps. I think I worded that poorly!
I’ll take my time to make sure it’s all neutral, well-sourced, and up to standard. Thanks again for your feedback—I’ll make the adjustments needed. Josh Haines (talk) 08:25, 28 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
