Hello John, welcome to Wikipedia. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian. Your work on the quicklist looks impressive but how are you going to keep it up to date when new articles are created every hour? There is already an automatic function to list all pages, but this obviously includes stubs too.

Here are some useful links in case you haven't already found them;

If you have any questions, see the help pages or add a question to the village pump. Angela 13:19, Sep 14, 2003 (UTC)

Quicklist

edit

Hey, what's the quicklist about? --Improv 02:59, 7 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Hi, I have listed the quicklist on Wikipedia:Votes for deletion, for the reasons given by Angela. If you could comment on Wikipedia:Votes_for_deletion/Wikipedia:Quicklist that would be great, thanks. – Smyth 12:04, 7 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Quicklist deletion

edit

As the creator of the Quicklist I'd have to agree with all the criticisms about it. I started it as reaction to some of the problems that existed in the all pages at the time but has since been fixed. When I first started using the Wikipedia I tried to read it the same way I have read traditional Encyclopedias, from start to finish. Of course with Wikipedia that's impossible. One problem I found with the all pages that hasn't been fixed is that most of the entries are for redirects. But that's necessary of course due to the fact it makes it easier to find things. As the whole idea of the quicklist is flawed and no one including myself has any attachments to it I agree with its deletion.

I would like to apologies to all the users of the Wikipedia for starting that project and then abandoning it without notice. As I said above it was a project of a new user who wasn’t familiar with the wiki concept. I hope that since then I have become a better wiki citizen. Over the past year I have been an active reader of the Wikipedia and almost all of my contributions have been minor edits to correct links. When I next decide to contribute an article it will be more in the spirit of the Wikipedia.

  • Don't worry about it. --Improv 13:10, 8 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

edit

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 21:57, 14 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Love of My Life (Brian McKnight)

edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of Love of My Life (Brian McKnight), and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: "Love Of My Life". It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 23:32, 5 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hello Jph. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "The Big Three Trio".

Duplicate categories, subcategorization

edit

Hi Jph, I noticed you have added categories, such as Culinary dish, to articles multiple times, for example at Shawarma and Seekh kebab. Please don't add categories to an article without checking whether it's already there, thanks.

Also, I noticed you've been adding many articles to the Culinary dish category, but this is incorrect; they should be removed, and existing subcategories that contain them should be added instead. Please see WP:SUBCAT, and the note from February at Category talk:Culinary dishes. I will comment further there. Thanks for your understanding. --IamNotU (talk) 15:03, 15 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Australian Design Group

edit

A tag has been placed on Category:Australian Design Group requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
