Thanks for the welcome! It is initially not my goal to do a lot of editing on the english version of Wikipedia, there's way too much to do on the dutch one for the moment :-) JurgenG 09:57, 3 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
We shall see; perhaps you'll get addicted...Lectonar 10:43, 3 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the warning but it arrived way too late... At least a wiki-addiction is not as unhealthy as most other addictions :-) JurgenG 10:45, 3 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Have a look here. Not unhealthy? Anyway, happy editing. ;-) Lectonar 10:56, 3 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Belgium

edit

A Dutch-speaking Belgian is just perfect! I'm a foreigner living in Brussels, and I'm translating several articles from French to English. The request was actually quite open-ended, but I have one question to start.

What is the canonical English name for the nl:Zeekanaal Brussel-Schelde?

I hope you don't mind if I pester you with small things like this for a while.

Cheers, -Oreo Priest 09:12, 5 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I guess it should be called the Brussels-Scheldt Sea Canal, I couldn't find any official publications (on the net) stating this name though. Some publications seem to use the Dutch or French name even in their English texts.
No problem to answer these questions from youJurgenG 10:01, 5 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Brussels Stock Exchange

edit

Thanks. I've just expanded the article on the Brussels Stock Exchange, and I'd like you to look it over for any unnecessary Francocentrism (or Dutch omissions), although on a historical article about Brussels this seems somewhat inevitable. Thanks. -Oreo Priest 17:32, 20 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

On that note, perhaps you could root around inside the Dutch Wikipedia to see if the article exists there and add an interwiki link... If not, no big deal. -Oreo Priest 17:46, 20 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
OK, time permitting I'll have a look into this tonight (always better than to watch TV :-)) JurgenG 08:38, 22 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hi, I just had a look at the article and apart from a minor typing error (which I corrected) I can't see any problems with it. There is no article 'Beurs van Brussel' or the like on the NL wikipedia. There is an article 'Euronext' but that's not exactly the same. JurgenG 11:29, 22 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks very much. -13:22, 22 October 2007 (UTC)Oreo Priest

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

edit

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:49, 14 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
