Recent Changes
editHi Jwoodward48wiki (talk · contribs)
In reference to : "Do you need a source for your recent change to 1st Cotabato South Infantry Battalion (Ready Reserve)? Jwoodward48wiki (talk) 02:03, 7 May 2014 (UTC)"
Changes made to the organization of this unit is standard among all Ready Reserve Units of the Army Reserve Command. I dunno if you still need references for that? Thanks for the heads up though. :):) Judgedtwice (talk) 02:11, 7 May 2014 (UTC)

Table of Contents
editI answered your question at the Teahouse, and another editor added to my answer. Simply adding this fourth section created a table of contents for you. Take care. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 06:24, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

Your signature
editHello, James, I just though you might want to know how to change what your signature says (what happens when you type in ~~~~). First, go to Special:Preferences under "User profile" and scroll down to the signature section. Type in there what you want your signature to say and then don't forget to save at the bottom of the page :) Cheerio! ~ Anastasia (talk) 23:22, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
Notice
editYou don't have to revise someone's comment on a talk page, since it's someone's personal comment. Yet, I appreciate your desire to jump in, but just remember these words. I pretty sure you will make a great Wikipedian in the future. Happy editing! Cheers!-- Allied Rangoon‧talk 23:38, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
- Okay, sorry. I thought it would make it easier to read, and I only added periods and other punctuation, changed 'i' to 'I', and fixed spelling errors, not grammatical errors. I didn't know that it was not acceptable. Should I revert all of the changes, or should I just stop? James Woodward (talk) 23:52, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
- No it's all right. It doesn't count as disruptive edits. Their all good faith edits. I agree with you, it would be easier if you revised them. Sometimes it’s just IP addressed visitors and users who do it all on purpose, just because they think it’s funny. I’m guessing you still can revise, just don’t waste your time as long as you are not doing vandalism. Just have fun and happy editing. If you have any questions, you may click here to ask me questions. Thanks for your participations. Cheers!-- Allied Rangoon‧talk 23:56, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
- Wait. Are small corrections acceptable? If I find it easier to read something if I clean it up (like 'centuty' into 'century'), may I do so? James Woodward (talk) 00:00, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
- Sure. In fact, all corrections are acceptable. Just make sure you aren't doing vandalism or disruptive editing, but I don't need to tell you that, you're a good guy!
- P.S: Thanks for signing my guestbook! Happy editing! Cheers!-- Allied Rangoon‧talk 00:06, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
- Here are my thoughts: I don't copyedit other editor's talk page comments AT ALL, except for correcting obvious, gross errors in indenting or formatting. I would not edit how e.e. commings left out capital letters, or k.d. lang either. Certain rappers and those influenced by that subculture format their online comments in ways that I never would. Other people have their own distinctive way of expressing themselves. But that is their legitimate mode of expression. Leaving such distinctive modes of expression intact allows other editors to evaluate the comment in its original intended context. I recommend leaving other editors' talk page comments as they are. None of what I have said applies to article space, where "standard English" is the norm, as spoken in the region that corresponds to the location of the article topic. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 00:47, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
- I concur with you but James could use some excellent editing skills by revising, but, yes I don’t care about other people’s comments as long as there not nonsense and they make sense. Cheers!-- Allied Rangoon‧talk 00:58, 9 May 2014 (UTC)

Remove
editIs James Woodward your real name?
If it is please remove your last name. I do not want to be bossy, but it is really dangerous, and please see WP:SIG. It is dangerous according to Wikipedia:Protection policy. Please see WP:PROTECT, for the protection policy. I do not wish to be bossy but for your safety you must remove your last name and change your signature. Thank you for understanding. Cheers!-- Allied Rangoon‧talk 00:21, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
- Is this okay? James the Knldge-Lvr (talk) 00:52, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, that should be okay, but remember to change your real name from your user page too. That is just as dangerous, thanks for accepting it without losing you cool! Great job! Cheers!-- Allied Rangoon‧talk 01:03, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
- Crab rangoons ("Allied Rangoon"), Jwoodward48wiki: Although it is customary for Wikipedians' usernames to be different from their real names, I have never heard of any such policy.
- Furthermore, I have just read the pages you cite as authority—WP:SIG and WP:PROTECT—and neither of them says anything about this. WP:SIG is about how a user should configure and present their signature, and ways to do so, and WP:PROTECT is about protecting pages against vandalism. (Also, keeping one's real name out of their signature won't be much protection if it's in their username, since anyone can see the username by simply hovering on the signature.) --Thnidu (talk) 01:28, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
- Okay, but this is closing it off.
- Speaking as an admin - and ignoring Crab rangoons' attempt to close this discussion; you don't get to do that on other people's talkpages - you are perfectly entitled to use your own name as a username, and many Wikipedians do. The policy that is actually relevant is the username policy, specifically WP:REALNAME. Whilst using your real name does carry some small risk, we have no policy that prohibits you from doing so. Crab rangoons, please take the time to actually read policies and guidelines before spouting them at other editors. Yunshui 雲水 14:03, 9 May 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for participating. I appreciate you for following guidelines without complaining. Great job! Cheers!-- Allied Rangoon‧talk 01:06, 9 May 2014 (UTC) |
- Yay! I wouldn't complain - I know that if Wikipedia wants me to do something, there is a really good reason: in this case to protect me. James the Knldge-Lvr (talk) 01:18, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
P.S. Do I need to deal with my username containing my last name?
- See my comment above, under #Remove. --Thnidu (talk) 01:37, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
- No that should be fine, but you might have to ask an admin, since it mentions James on you user page, but your username is Jwoodward48wiki. Just make sure with an admin, okay? It's getting late. If you have any more question, ask tomorrow please. Thanks Cheers!-- Allied Rangoon‧talk 01:43, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
