You have been blocked from editing for a period of 31 hours for making personal attacks towards other editors. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
If you believe that there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then submit a request through the unblock wizard or through your talk page.  CoconutOctopus talk 17:46, 23 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I did not attack other editors. I asked my mentor "Voorts" a question, and he responed rudely, evaded my questions, and refused to answer, instead resorting to telling me "it was not my place to question him". With all due respect, I do not find this acceptable, and I request this block be reversed. KA2026 (talk) 00:20, 24 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Permalink to discussion.
I'm not your mentor. asilvering, whose talk page you posed a question on, was assigned your mentor. I also was not rude with you. I asked you questions to attempt to ascertain whether I could assist you. When you stated that you wanted to email this editor because you thought the account was created by a bot, I informed you that you were incorrect; that, in any event, administrators (including myself) do not investigate alleged botting that is almost a decade old; and that It is not your place is a brand new editor to be emailing people about your suspicions that they're a bot. As you can see from the permalink to our discussion above, I did not say that it was not your place to question me. voorts (talk/contributions) 00:35, 24 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Also, how is getting me banned going? voorts (talk/contributions) 00:36, 24 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I am NOT accusing people of editing pages with bots! I don't care if they do that! I just wanted to ask him a question about an article he had edited in the past. I don't find it acceptable that you evaded my questions, responded rudely, and prevented me from talking to my real mentor! KA2026 (talk) 18:41, 24 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
If you re-read our discussion, you will see that I responded to your question when I told you that no, there is no way to email that editor, a response that you acknowledged by responding to. I did not prevent you from talking to your real mentor, who could have weighed in at any time on their talk page. voorts (talk/contributions) 18:44, 24 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Telling a fellow user you will get them banned, lying that you are able to, and then telling them to go to hell is a personal attack. I strongly suggest you take this very short block then return to editing in a more collaborative mood. CoconutOctopus talk 06:53, 24 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Sir,
If you had asked a simple question to your mentor, and then had someone else butt in and tell you that there was no way for you to do it, and then tell you it was not your place to question people, you would probably get a bit angry too. I am NOT accusing people of editing pages with bots! I don't care if they do that! I just wanted to ask him a question about an article he had edited in the past. I don't find it acceptable for people such as Voorts to butt in to my discussions, evade my questions, and tell me what I want to do is not possible, not even allowing me to talk to my real mentor. KA2026 (talk) 18:39, 24 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Please don't call people "sir"; not every editor on Wikipedia is male. voorts (talk/contributions) 18:45, 24 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
There's no way for you to email that editor because they don't have an email associated with their account. Asking people for their personal contact information on their talk page also isn't particularly appropriate. voorts (talk/contributions) 18:52, 24 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I have already e-mailed the person who I believe is using Mr Person as an alias. I am not accusing him of anything, I do the same myself, I just want to contact the acutual man who uploaded the image, no matter what name he goes by. KA2026 (talk) 19:06, 24 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
So you found the email of some random person on the internet you think is Mr Person and emailed them? voorts (talk/contributions) 19:09, 24 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

OrphanBot

[edit]

You appear to have some confusion about OrphanBot. I hope I can clear things up.

About twenty years ago, there was a major push to clean up the licensing and source information for images used on Wikipedia. As part of that effort, I used OrphanBot to send messages to about a hundred thousand users about images they'd uploaded. For many of these users, these messages were the first edit to their talk page, meaning the bot is listed as the creator of that page.

The only relation between me and User:Mr Person is that OrphanBot left a message notifying the user that the now-deleted Image:Kid_icarus_screenshot.png needed source information. --Carnildo (talk) 22:04, 24 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Ok understood! Thank you. So how can I contact the actual Mr Person user? I was trying to contact you in hopes that you were the person behind that name, so I apologise for the confusion. Thank you for clearing this up for me. KA2026 (talk) 21:49, 26 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
If the user doesn't have an email address associated with their account, the only thing you can do is post a message on their user talk page and hope they see it. --Carnildo (talk) 20:43, 27 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yes sadly it's been several years since he last edited so I don't know whether he'll respond. I posted a message, but I haven't gotten a response yet. How do I see if he does have an e-mail associated? KA2026 (talk) 17:01, 28 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
As you've now been told several times, that editor doesn't have email set up. voorts (talk/contributions) 17:08, 28 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Here you go again Voorts, butting in to other people's conversations. I'm glad you're so smart that you know everything about him. Have you even looked into his user page, or are you just trying to argue with me?! KA2026 (talk) 17:14, 28 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
You clearly know how to email other editors because you did so. Do you see the email button when you check this editor's page? I do not, nor, I am guessing, do the several other editors who have said they can't be emailed. voorts (talk/contributions) 17:23, 28 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
