Hello, I'm Jim1138. I noticed that in this edit to Lydia Cacho, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Jim1138 (talk) 03:55, 18 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Welcome!

edit

Hello, Kai taugenichts, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! References

edit

Please don't remove citations that support content. Adding references is how we ensure that content is valid. Without references, a reader can not easily validate information and there is no presumption of accuracy. See Help:Referencing for beginners and Help:footnotes. There is a tool that can help: See wp:RefToolbar/2.0. This is covered by the Wikipedia policy of wp:verifiability (WP:V). Please wp:cite your edits with wp:reliable sources (RS). Per WP:V unsourced content can be removed. References are especially important for wp:biographies of living persons Thank you Jim1138 (talk) 04:07, 18 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

None of that is sourced. Please add the citation with your content. Your edits are saved in the wp:page history, but you need to add sources when you restore the content. Also, that large list of awards should not be wp:linked as there is no target article and likely not to be in the near future. wp:redlink Jim1138 (talk) 05:08, 18 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Also, this citation:

  • "Lydia Cacho, Mexico". International Women's Media Foundation. Retrieved 1 July 2012.

appears to no longer work and should be remedied. Much of the article appears to rely on it. Jim1138 (talk) 05:10, 18 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

The article could use a better image. However, content must be freely disreputable and not restricted by copyright. See wp:images, Commons:Licensing Commons:Photographs of identifiable people. For releases see Commons:OTRS. Complicated... Jim1138 (talk) 05:16, 18 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi Jim! That works for me! Let me work and prepare the sources. And yes I have a picture from 2017 that can be used. Best Kai

Do not copy content from external sites

edit

Hello Kai taugenichts, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Lydia Cacho have been removed, as they appear to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you.

Don't bother getting permission, passing off someone's promotional biography as encyclopedic content is not on. MER-C 12:23, 18 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Does have content on Cacho: http://www.iwmf.org/?s=Lydia+Cacho&submit=
There is a wp:bot which checks for 'plagerism' and reports results to subscribers. Sorry about that.
Please consider uploading her photo to commons:. You might want to do a google search on the image. If it is online without any release, you would need to get its release validated via Commons:OTRS. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 23:13, 18 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Here is an example of an {{annotated image}}. If you click on the image, you will (or should) see the full image. Cool! It's a pain to adjust... Jim1138 (talk) 01:35, 21 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
