Kamal Haasan filmography
Hello:
I am about to begin my copy edit of your article Kamal Haasan filmography. Looking at it I could not help but notice a huge number of duplicate links to other Wikipedia articles in the tables. Generally the practice according to the WP Manual of style is:
"Duplicate linking in lists is permissible if it significantly aids the reader. This is most often the case when the list is presenting information that could just as aptly be formatted in a table, and is expected to be parsed for particular bits of data, not read from top to bottom. If the list is normal article prose that happens to be formatted as a list, treat it as normal article prose."
For example, my interpretation of this is that it would not "significantly aid a reader" to have "Tamil" linked every time it appears in a table. So I have gone through the first table and removed all but one of those links. I would propose to do the same thing for other languages as well as for directors etc... Before undertaking this, I wanted to make sure you agree with this approach.
Regards,
Twofingered Typist (talk) 15:04, 21 February 2017 (UTC)

I'm unsure if you're being naive or not, but WP:ANI is not meant for it. Ideally, you could've initiated a discussion at the article's talk page or you could've considered WP:RFC, or worse WP:DR. I must say I'm appalled by this accusatory behaviour. :( —Vensatry (talk) 16:59, 7 March 2017 (UTC)
- I really didn't know that. That discussion was meant to list your questionable actions, not vandalism. That is why I did not traditionally ARV you. But how did you know about the discussion, despite me adding the noping template? Regardless, I will (never)infinity stop adding archived refs and translated titles, and no-one can stop me since they are not illegal. Perhaps the discussion can be moved to a different page, but not now. Kailash29792 (talk) 17:38, 7 March 2017 (UTC)
- Man, you never cease to amaze me. When you discuss the actions (the translation thing in this case) of X with almost everyone (Ssven2, Cowlibob and an ANI) but X how can you expect the user to be 'answerable' to you? You cannot "expect" me to come and explain things to you. And, nobody is asking you "stop" doing anything – as long as they are not against the core policies of the site. Lastly, if you feel my actions constitute WP:VAN, feel free to take this to WP:AIV and see what happens. Good luck! —Vensatry (talk) 19:15, 7 March 2017 (UTC)
- Continue your (copy-paste)infinity service as well! —Vensatry (talk) 19:17, 7 March 2017 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Please stop it, both of you get a grip or so help me God, I'll do something I really don't want to do. Arguing over a silly thing as translations of article titles. Put your petty differences aside and work together for the benefit of the encyclopaedia, my good friends. BTW Vensatry, Editor 2050 has resolved the YT links. Many thanks to him. — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 07:07, 8 March 2017 (UTC)
- Ssven2, You should tell this to your 'friend' (not to me) as he was the one who escalated this. And, I'm not going to explain my stance unless he is willing to directly seek an explanation from me. —Vensatry (talk) 07:11, 8 March 2017 (UTC)
- Okay Vensatry, I'll stop spiting you once and for all with this post. The main reasons for these disputes that between us emerged was primarily because you turned anti-translator and anti-archiver. Because both are not illegal, yet you opposed them (as seen in Vijay filmography and Andha Naal) claiming they clutter references (I don't feel they do so; in fact, they make them complete). I thought I'd find a way to convince you their usefulness but I was unable to do so (as a last-ditch attempt, I'll quote this policy: If you quote a non-English reliable source (whether in the main text or in a footnote), a translation into English should always accompany the quote). But it's okay since you said you had no problem with me adding them. So that's why I requested the ANI discussion regarding you be closed. As for the (copy-paste)infinity service, plagiarism was never my intention. I tried my best to re-write that plot to avoid WP:COPYVIO and thought I succeeded, but failed. Perhaps I could use this next time. Another reason for me partially despising you was that you declared Danny's books unusable. But you cited WP:MIRROR and WP:CIRCULAR as reasons which abided Wiki's policies, thus I avoided berating you. Still I despised you because you declared the entire ₹3000-each books unusable, whereas I felt only the few chapters he actually plagiarised from should have been declared unusable. But I know you won't agree with me, I know you'll say a single drop of poison is enough to taint the whole drink and Danny's books are similarly tainted, so I'll leave it there and not argue with you further about it (unless you disagree with that poison drop line). Kailash29792 (talk) 08:27, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for speaking up finally. It seems you have been holding a grudge against me ever since I opposed the Mullum Malarum nomination. Coming to the point, I'm not ENTIRELY against adding translations/archived urls. In the case of Vijay filmography, I insisted upon removing the titles as they were wrong in some cases and ambiguous (switching between literal and figurative) in others (case in point: Do you know why 'Ghilli' Vijay is being given a parrot?]. It's quite obvious that the one who translated the bit must be a Tamil illiterate. If it were you, I would not be surprised. Besides, the phrase being an alliteration cannot be "faithfully" translated into any other language let alone English. So what you were doing primarily was WP:OR, which of course is "illegal" here. As for archived urls, there is no compulsion (unless the source becomes dead) to add them either. As far as I'm aware, I never encouraged Ssven2 to remove them in Vijay filmography. I REPEAT I'm not going add them for articles which I contribute to in future, and there's no necessity to please reviewers if they insist upon adding them. NOBODY can "force" me to add them as it's not a policy. As for Dhananjayan's book, didn't you raise a discussion at WP:RSN and elsewhere? Didn't other editors have a say? It's good to write GAs/FAs but not at the cost of WP:V and WP:RS. That'll defeat the purpose of the site. Hope things are clear now. Lastly, raising an unwarranted WP:ANI against me without even notifying me is in extreme bad faith. keep watching the space. —Vensatry (talk) 10:13, 8 March 2017 (UTC)
- Ah! I only posted a discussion regarding Pride, and the discussion turned in favour of not using the book, so it's my loss. Yes, a drop of poison is indeed enough to taint the whole drink. Sometimes I actually regret joining Wiki because I saw a few articles in disrepair and believed I could make a difference if I joined the site. I've decided that once the to-do list on my userpage is complete, I'm leaving Wiki forever. I never considered myself a bad faith editor, just one who would have gone to any lengths to make the article perfect, but compromises are inevitable. Despite you being somewhat of a frenemy, I never wanted to destroy you through the events of the last few days. I thought your "anti-translation"/"anti-archiving" actions were objectionable and wanted you to stop, therefore I thought a consensus at ANI would convince you (I was entirely wrong in all this, so apologies). It would have still been good to see you join this "club" of archivers I am a part of (others include Ssven2, Thamizhan1994, Pavan, Uksharma3, Krish (occasionally) and various MCU article editors) Still if you think I'm a phony, then I guess it's hard not to agree; you're bloody well right. Kailash29792 (talk) 13:30, 8 March 2017 (UTC)
- You didn't get my point about WP:OR, did you? —Vensatry (talk) 18:42, 19 March 2017 (UTC)
- WP:OR says not to add material "such as facts, allegations, and ideas—for which no reliable, published sources exist". That part I long understand, but I don't understand what part of OR I'm violating; right now I'm in no mood to argue with you, file ANI reports against you or force you to edit against your ways. And I apologise for filing that ANI report (although I'm still not pleased with Danny's books being discredited by Wikipedia, respecting Wiki's policies I'll not use them, even for GA level). Baradwaj Rangan
Hi Kailash, re: this, I'll try to keep your note in mind, but filmcompanion.in looks like every other film portal I see on the daily. And if the ICTF hasn't actively sanctioned the site, my instinct is to remove. Also, please feel free to drop me notes about this sort of thing if I do something that you think is rooted in ignorance of Indian culture. I missed your reversion, and only found out that I was the one who removed it after seeing your note and asking myself, "Hmm, did I do this?". Cyphoidbomb (talk) 00:57, 3 April 2017 (UTC)
- Rangan also writes for The Hindu, and filmcompanion was founded by Anupama Chopra, another top critic in India. I hope that helps with its credibility. --Kailash29792 (talk) 02:43, 3 April 2017 (UTC)
- It might be wise to add this either at WP:ICTF#Guidelines on sources and at WP:ICTFFAQ to help build a stronger database of credible sources. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 02:49, 3 April 2017 (UTC)
The table is located below the end of the right panel on this page. I do not know how to edit to bring it up to the same level as the right panel. Is it possible for you to do it? Thanks.--UKSharma3 05:57, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
- Sir, are you referring to Template:Tamil films? In my browsers (Firefox and Chrome) both the table and the panel appear to be at the same level. Nevertheless, I find Template:Tamil films redundant to Template:Tamil cinema, and will tag it for deletion soon. --Kailash29792 (talk) 06:47, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
- I use firefox only. Now when I check on IE, the table and the template are in the same level. However, in Firefox, the ==1954== is in level with the template, but the table starting class="wikitable" is showing below the bottom of the template. I cleared the cache and tried but there is no change. This is the case for years 1942, 1944 and 1945 also. You can see a screen shot here.--UKSharma3 09:15, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
- Here is how it appears for me. Perhaps we could remove unnecessary fields like "director" and "music director" to make space? Both could come under a single field titled "cast and crew", following the example of 2017 in film. --Kailash29792 (talk) 09:28, 6 April 2017 (UTC)

Sethu Bandhanam
Can you please create a disambiguation page for the above? Thanks --UKSharma3 02:02, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
- Done created Sethubandhanam (disambiguation). --Kailash29792 (talk) 04:21, 7 April 2017 (UTC)

Baahubali
Would you like to take a look at the film's FLC nomination? Thanks.Krish | Talk 04:57, 4 April 2017 (UTC)
- I am waiting for your comments on both the nominations.Krish | Talk 13:43, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
- Kailash, I don't think I will be able to put the article on TFL on 28th. No Indian editor has shown any interest on reviewing the article. I don't understand. I thought you all would have been happy seeing it on main page but people are too busy to comment on it. What is even the need for that 1000 challenge, when we can't even support our own articles?Krish | Talk 04:17, 8 April 2017 (UTC)
- But I told you how enthusiastic I would be to see it as TFL. Please ask an admin to lure more reviewers. --Kailash29792 (talk) 04:33, 8 April 2017 (UTC)
- I don't think anything can be done without having atleast 6 supports or maybe more. It's been 7 days already and nobody really gave a damn. So I guess it won't make it to the main page on 28th. I thought it wmight get multiple supports within a week but I was wrong.Krish | Talk 05:45, 8 April 2017 (UTC)

GA review
Would you like to review Don or Dostana or maybe both? I would appreciate your gesture. Let me know if you will. Krish | Talk 07:16, 8 April 2017 (UTC)
- After Baahubali FL, I've decided to abstain from reviews for a while as I find the process to be straining. But I'll help with the prose whenever necessary. --Kailash29792 (talk) 07:22, 8 April 2017 (UTC)

- Thank you Numerounovedant! It would be easier if I knew how to access full versions of those books on Google Books which only have snippet views. To add fuel to the fire, they don't give me an option to digitally buy the book to view it fully --Kailash29792 (talk) 05:58, 8 April 2017 (UTC)
- Yes, I can understand the frustration. Have you tried looking these books up in the state archives? The archives here in Punjab are doing a great job digitising a large no of publications. I am not sure how it is in the other regions though. NumerounovedantTalk 07:41, 8 April 2017 (UTC)
- Try this if interested. ** Pavan Jandhyala ** 09:09, 8 April 2017 (UTC)

Suriya filmography FLC
I had resolved your comments a while back. So, I was wondering if the FLC has your support or if you still have something to say. — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 07:05, 10 April 2017 (UTC)
Bhadrachalam
The image looks quite dim. Can you enhance its aspects to make it look more lively? It would be of great help. ** Pavan Jandhyala ** 04:19, 9 April 2017 (UTC)
- Done see how it is now. And thank you indeed for showing me that Resources page. Also, can you please find additional sources that can help improve Anushka Shetty filmography? Actually, just sources for her character names. --Kailash29792 (talk) 04:41, 9 April 2017 (UTC)
- It looks good. Thank you so much. Additional sources, well, surely yes. Will do that in the breaks i take while working on Bhadrachalam. ** Pavan Jandhyala ** 10:57, 9 April 2017 (UTC)
- Save for few minor tweaks and a proper c/e, Bhadrachalam is done. How it looks? ** Pavan Jandhyala ** 16:19, 11 April 2017 (UTC)

Help
Hey! I am planning to take Urmila Matondkar filmography to FLC. But I am unable to find the links for her five south Indian films. Since I don't know about the notable websites of the south Indian cinema, would you please help me here?Krish | Talk 13:17, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
- For now, I have used the Youtube links of those films uploaded by their distributor labels. I don't think it is allowed. So please help me with the notable links of those five films.Krish | Talk 13:44, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
- I think YouTube videos from verified channels are allowed. I'm not sure if sources not mentioning the character name are usable. This review of Indian says, "Indian has dances, foot-tapping melodies by A.R. Rahman and two pretty women, Manisha Koirala and Urmila Matondkar, both playing the younger Kamalahasan's girlfriends". It does not identify Matondkar by her character name, Sapna. --Kailash29792 (talk) 13:52, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
- Well, I have already cited Indian by a BH source. I have problem finding sources for these films: Antham, Gaayam, Thacholi Varghese Chekavar, Money Money, and Anaganaga Oka Roju.Krish | Talk 14:11, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
- Regarding Telugu films you may ask Pavan, since reliable text sources for the characters are unavailable. Don't you wish you had a job at Rotten Tomatoes, where you could fill in a film's basic details like the character names and use the RT pages as sources here? --Kailash29792 (talk) 14:24, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
- Hahaha. Between, Is that possible? Though I would love to work at the Walt Disney Studios, Pixar, Marvel, Warner Brothers or even UTV (Disney India), YRF and Dharma.Krish | Talk 15:38, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
