Hey,
We don't take box office figures from TOI per WP:ICTFSOURCES, right? Other than the uncontroversial stuff like movie reviews, TOI is considered to have unreliable to not reliable when it comes to films and especially BO. And they have used sources like Sacnilk for reports in the past. Hence TOI is taken with caution. I'm sure you are aware of this already and that is why I spent a considerable deal of time reverting the BO of the movie in like 4 to 5 articles.
Also, reviews aren't per se positive. Most of them are mixed to negative. That is not SYNTH. Sources like TOI, HI etc are all putting it between 2.5 to 3, which is mixed. I din wanna revert you since we both have been around for quite a while.
Lemme know if I'm missing out anything. Thanks and happy editing :) — The Herald (Benison) (talk) 03:15, 14 March 2024 (UTC)

Judging critical consensus based on your own observation rather than established facts borders on WP:OR and WP:SYNTH. TOI's BO info can be excluded if it directly attributes Sacnilk. But TOI isn't outright unreliable for general film-related info. Only highly sensitive, political info. If you find another source saying 'mixed reviews', please add it. Kailash29792 (talk) 03:44, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
Yeah, cool. Lemme give it a go. This uncertainty is the reason why I try to stay clear of TOI, unless I have absolutely no other source. Thanks and have a good day :) The Herald (Benison) (talk) 03:50, 14 March 2024 (UTC)

Can you generate two new links for the Gen Y Cops and Abitha films from [1]? DareshMohan (talk) 23:57, 12 March 2024 (UTC)

I don't what you're talking about. But I fixed the link at Devadasi. Kailash29792 (talk) 08:26, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
Thanks. Gen-Y Cops is a film reviewed by The New Straits Times. The review is directly to the left of the Devadasi review. Wondering how you were able to change the link? DareshMohan (talk) 06:54, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
DareshMohan, just by hovering around. — Kailash29792 (talk) 07:03, 14 March 2024 (UTC)

Video source

Can I use this source where the director himself mentions that Mohanlal is in Chanakyan [2]? @Anishvishwa:@Aadirulez8: Do you understand Malayalam? DareshMohan (talk) 06:36, 17 March 2024 (UTC)

Let those who know Malayalam take care of this. Kailash29792 (talk) 08:08, 17 March 2024 (UTC)
I was just wondering if YouTube sources are reliable. You used one at Michael Madana Kama Rajan#Cast. Sadly, I don't know any users that know Malayalam or respond on their talk page. DareshMohan (talk) 20:34, 17 March 2024 (UTC)
I believe using text-based articles as reference, because they can be archived easily and as this is English space of Wikipedia, English article would be suitable. Yes, I know Malayalam, but by just watching the video and making a good faith edit won't be verifiable in future, let's say if the video is taken down.
So, I believe text article is more reliable and go to option.
Thanks, Aadirulez8 (talk) 09:56, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
YouTube videos can be archived using Wayback Machine and Ghostarchive... mostly. Try it. Kailash29792 (talk) 09:57, 18 March 2024 (UTC)

DYK for Beebo the God of War

On 25 March 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Beebo the God of War, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the titular character in "Beebo the God of War" was inspired by Tickle Me Elmo? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Beebo the God of War. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Beebo the God of War), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Hi Kailash29792, I've marked the section "Reception" --> "Critical response" with {{quotefarm}}because many of the quotations used there don't seem particularly useful. I think a good solution would be to cut the useless words, elide where possible and remove quotations from less-prestigious sources. There's also a [citation needed] in the first para of "Reception" --> "Box office" (I didn't add that) and I've added a [excess citations] tag in "Production" --> "Development" because I don't think the date of announcement needs three citations. Otherwise it's looking good. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 04:00, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
Thanks. I think cutting down the quotes can be handled at a later point. Also, is it possible to raise the request limit from two to three or more? Because the waiting period is so long, listing one article per month doesn't seem out of line. Kailash29792 (talk) 04:04, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
No worries. You should probably ask about the limit at REQ talk. Sadly, skilled volunteer copy-editors are in short supply while editors wanting a copy-edit for their pet articles are plentiful. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 07:14, 30 March 2024 (UTC)

Fishy edit

A google search of Sun Business Enterprises shows nothing and no sources confirm this. There is a high chance that the user who wrote that doesn't want the film to release [4]. They had created an account for a single edit. DareshMohan (talk) 06:42, 30 March 2024 (UTC)

Looks like WP:COI. You could rewrite according to the IndiaGlitz source. Kailash29792 (talk) 07:14, 30 March 2024 (UTC)

Hey, I have accepted the soundtrack artcle from AfC and removed some contents from the parent article. I saw you as a major contributor, hence updating. Lemme know if I should revert as it was a GA. — The Herald (Benison) (talk) 11:46, 31 March 2024 (UTC)

The Herald, I'm not in favour of a separate article for the soundtrack as it reduces the size of the main article. Kailash29792 (talk) 06:02, 1 April 2024 (UTC)
Hmm. But the standalone article had it's merits and rather than having a very large section on music, the article was pretty well cited. Hence I accepted. It has to go through AfD now since I accepted it :/ The Herald (Benison) (talk) 06:24, 1 April 2024 (UTC)
After reassessing both articles, I decided to let the soundtrack article stay as it is large enough and the main article is also large enough not to get prodded or AfD'd. Kailash29792 (talk) 09:09, 1 April 2024 (UTC)
Yes, cool. Thanks :) The Herald (Benison) (talk) 09:20, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

Requesting some article expansion help

Greetings @Kailash29792

Hi, I am User:Bookku, On Wikipedia I engage in, finding information and knowledge gap areas in Wikipedia and promoting expansion of related drafts and articles. Came across your user profile ( while searching users active in similar topic area ), and I found your user profile to be interesting.

Requesting your visit to My Choice (2015 film) (still a draft in my userspace) and help expand the topic areas if you find topic interesting. Wish you very happy Wikipedia editing.

Thanks and warm regards

Bookku (talk) 16:10, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

Title card

Is title card more important that CBFC certificate? Jana title card and CBFC have different spellings. Jana is used by more sources and CBFC certificate while 2 sources and title card use Janaa. I want to move it to Janaa because there is no parentheses (Jana (film) → Janaa). DareshMohan (talk) 05:34, 2 April 2024 (UTC)

The common spelling matters. Just look at Manghal Nila Manjal Nila. Go with Jana. Kailash29792 (talk) 05:36, 2 April 2024 (UTC)

A concern

Per WP:DRAFTIFY point 2d, articles older than 90 days should not be draftified without prior consensus at AfD or another suitable venue. Therefore, this draftification is inappropriate and needs to be reversed, you may then list the page at WP:AFD using the reasoning you gave for the draftification, thanks. 2601:5CC:8300:A7F0:C4A7:6AA1:D692:7BB8 (talk) 20:24, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

It was moved to draftspace because it fails WP:NFF. No evidence that it is filming. Kailash29792 (talk) 02:04, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
That is irrelevant, the rfc was unequivocal, return it to mainspace and list it at WP:AFD. 2601:5CC:8300:A7F0:7138:50E:4E4F:475F (talk) 02:18, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
Moved it back to mainspace as the actors just began filming. Not gonna AfD or PROD it. Kailash29792 (talk) 08:43, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
That is your call, regardless do not draftify pages older than 90 days without getting consensus at AFD, you may not like that consensus or indeed many other policies, but you still have to follow them. 2601:5CC:8300:A7F0:D56D:D9F6:C947:573C (talk) 16:52, 2 April 2024 (UTC)

Grammar

On countless articles in the reception section, I have changed the ending quotes to ". from ." I may be wrong. Do you know? DareshMohan (talk) 21:57, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

The GOCE does that (especially Baffle gab) so I believe it is acceptable. Kailash29792 (talk) 02:03, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
No, this is wrong. See, for instance, [5] and other text books. If the page has Engvar of American English, it goes inside the quotation mark. In British English you need to review the quotation, and place it inside the quotation marks if that is what the quoted material has, and otherwise place it outside. Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 10:25, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
SirfurboyDoes this also count for Indian English? If so, please feel free to make changes. --Kailash29792 (talk) 10:28, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
I believe Indian English follows British English. If the quoted material is a complete sentence, ending in a full stop in the original, the full stop/period goes inside the quotation marks. Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 10:38, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
User:Sirfurboy that is incorrect, MOS:LQ is quite explicit that logical quotation is to be used "in all articles, regardless of the variety of English in which they are written" so the English variety has nothing to do with this. Also While Indian English tends to follow British English orthography that is not universally the case, and vocabulary is strongly influenced by North American English while also having many of its own distinct features, OED's discover section on it is a good starting point if you are interested. 2601:5CC:8300:A7F0:D56D:D9F6:C947:573C (talk) 17:07, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
I was not aware of that in MOS:LQ, but it makes the same point. Just that apparently we do this on American English articles too. Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 17:10, 2 April 2024 (UTC)

Where in this source is it mentioned that the film's title is based on the pearl necklace? I thought it only mentions that R. Sundaramoorthy was Rajinikanth's makeup artist. Kailash29792 (talk) 08:10, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
From முத்து படத்தில் அப்பா ரஜினியாக வரும் பரதேசியான உருவம்கொண்ட முத்துவுக்கும். I will find a better source. I don't think the article is worth mentioning R. Sundaramoorthy's name because he only did the makeup for the father character as per the source. During that time, Rajinikanth was very self conscious and didn't let anyone else comb his hair per this video interview. DareshMohan (talk) 19:55, 4 April 2024 (UTC)

Jai Bhim (film)

Hi Kailash, I've again marked the "Reception" --> "Critical response" subsection with {{quotefarm}} because I think there are too many direct quotations; some could be reduced, summarised or removed if they don't say very much, or if their sources are of marginal reliability. I've also moved some text from "Social impact" to "Reception" --> "Critical response", where I thought it was more appropriate, but I won't mind if you move it back. Anyway, good luck with the article and cheers, Baffle☿gab 02:01, 5 April 2024 (UTC)

Credits

When no reliable sources support the actual credits order, is modifying by including movie URL original research? Somehow Santhanam, Prakash Raj and VTV Ganesh are credited before Anushka in Vaanam and K. S. Ravikumar is credited before Raashi Khanna in Ayogya. DareshMohan (talk) 08:02, 6 April 2024 (UTC)

Just go with the credits order without carrying about anything else. The only thing you have to worry about is someone else messing the order. But then we can view and edit revisions. Kailash29792 (talk) 08:07, 6 April 2024 (UTC)

Poor clarity Vijay old film posters

hi dude sorry to interrupt you my suggestion is that the film posters uploaded by you of Vijay old good classic films like ghilli, kaavalan, youth, thirumalai, thirupaachi are of very poor quality kindly re-upload hd posters are atleast hq posters if possible reupload its 50 day run or 100 day run offical film posters.the irony is that Vijay's bad films like bigil, master and leo are having good quality posters whereas good old films of his are having poor quality posters. Thanks dude Danteishere (talk) 11:50, 6 April 2024 (UTC)

Reception ratings

Since integers from zero to nine are spelled out in words as per Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Dates_and_numbers#Numbers_as_figures_or_words, do we have to change it for all film articles (I put fractions in the past). Do you have Prime? What is Rakshit Shetty's role name in [8]? DareshMohan (talk) 22:59, 7 April 2024 (UTC)

Guidelines for tables

List of Telugu film actresses currently says five films as lead but it can be changed to three per User_talk:Jayanthkumar123#Length_of_article. I think List of Tamil film actresses arbitrarily has 5. 5 will allow the table to be more full while three will make the table half empty. Thoughts? DareshMohan (talk) 07:10, 12 April 2024 (UTC)

Cast

Is sourcing necessary when the cast member is in credits? Dhamu is in Baashha's opening credits but not in a source. DareshMohan (talk) 07:32, 7 May 2024 (UTC)

IMO sourcing is not necessary. Especially when the film is available for public viewing, and not lost or in limbo (like Thendral Sudum). Kailash29792 (talk) 07:34, 7 May 2024 (UTC)
What about when the films are only available on subscription services? Alas, I feel the need to source the cast sections. DareshMohan (talk) 01:04, 15 May 2024 (UTC)

Pon Ondru Kanden

You reverted my [9], I don't think so that your theory is correct:

it should be "Pen Ondru Kanden" but they shortened "Ponnu" to "Pon"

Your explanation, would literally transliterate to: Tamil: பெண் ஒன்று கண்டேன், romanized: Peṇ oṉṟu kaṇṭēṉ -> Tamil: பொண்ணு, romanized: Poṇṇu -> Tamil: பொண், romanized: Poṇ / Tamil: பெண், romanized: Peṇ.

If you read the title, it's written: Tamil: பொன், romanized: Poṉ, lit.'Gold'.

Those are different ண், ன், ṇ, ṉ. I don't think so that someone would short such a word to a complete different word.

Even if that's the intent, I'm really not sure to assume something that may be probable, as it's WP:OR. If there's a something like a press from makers side, then we've a clear evidence. The word Pon clearly means Gold this we can't discuss away. Luigi Boy ルアイヂ ボイ talk 15:43, 15 May 2024 (UTC)

When we were discussing the screenplay, Ananthu, a close associate of K. Balachander gaaru who was with us, suggested some scenes in the film. One such scene was the one in which Bhanupriya is showing making calls and everyone showing sympathy. While shooting in the USA with all our constraints, we could only get two families in the scene, but well there it was. When the movie was released, K. Balachander gaaru and his team were in Vizag for the shooting of their Sindhu Bhairavi, and they all watched our film in the theaters. Balachander gaaru liked that scene so much that he asked my permission to use that scene in his film also. I was both surprised and overjoyed that someone I look up to was so impressed, and I gladly said the he didn't even need my permission to use the scene and he could do so anyway! Thus, a similar scene also appears in Sindhu Bhairavi. DareshMohan (talk) 06:45, 21 May 2024 (UTC)

Arrowverse FL?

Would you be intrested in getting an arrowverse list to FL? I am competing in the wikicup, there is a limit on the amount of Featured content you can have nominated of one solo and one co-nom. Would you be intrested in working on a co nom of possibly an episode list or maybe characters? It's up to you. Questions? four Olifanofmrtennant (she/her) 20:04, 20 May 2024 (UTC)

You decide which to nominate, I'll help in cleaning it up. Kailash29792 (talk) 01:25, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
Maybe the episode list for either Arrow or The Flash? Questions? four Olifanofmrtennant (she/her) 01:35, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
Arrow is the better choice. Kailash29792 (talk) 01:39, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
Alright then. I'll begin working on it. Questions? four Olifanofmrtennant (she/her) 01:40, 21 May 2024 (UTC)

Manthiri Kumaran

Can you improve the references? Citing the film itself doesn't feel notable. DareshMohan (talk) 13:10, 26 May 2024 (UTC)

No, it seems unlikely. 🌙Eclipse (talk) (contribs) 13:17, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
