  Hello Katempfc. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Valfontis (talk) 03:14, 22 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Monterey furniture

edit

I reviewed your editing history to see how you are doing. You have added a much needed and very welcome dimension to the articles you have touched so far. Your userspace article User:Katempfc/Monterey Furniture looks ready for mainspace. Your content is great and well written. Once it is moved though, a few editors will make some changes to bring it to basic Manual of Style readiness. Don't worry: That is routine, expected, and one of the great aspects of collaborative editing at Wikipedia.

Your interaction with Valfontis had a few of her talk page stalkers (including myself) hoping you did not misunderstand her notice about conflict of interest. We welcome contributions from experts of all kinds. Regrettably, we are wary due to years of experience dealing with Wikipedia-related misconceptions some experts might arrive with. The policies and guidelines WP:OR, WP:NN, WP:V, and WP:RS largely address all such ill-conceived notions.

A much more frequent issue with entrepreneurs is their seeming inability to distinguish between useful article additions versus WP:ADVERT, WP:LINKFARM, WP:COI, and WP:TRIVIA. It was that basis, on the first whiff of potential COI, that you received a standard boilerplate notice. The notice content was carefully crafted a few years ago, but, like everything else in Wikipedia, is subject to revision by almost anyone, and reversion by only a few. It may be stronger than optimal due to the onslaught of commercial interests. Something like a third of my edits are to combat attempts to commercially invade Wikipedia. I am pleased you have remained well away from that in your work. Thank you for your contributions! —EncMstr (talk) 17:23, 22 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
